Chiddys Strato Blue, Medium mods for looks/handling...

Post by chiddy » Sun Oct 09, 2011 10:11 pm

I won't bore everyone with pictures throughout the time I've had the car, rather just put up a spec and before and after pictures...

I've had the car since february, and done the follwing mods wise...

Meister-R coilovers,
Toyosports full decat system,
K&N panel filter,
BBS CH replica's with 235/40/18 R888 tyres,
Seibon Carbon bonnet,
Yellow tinted foglights,
Removed front plate.

Maintenance wise...

Full service including coil packs, plugs, leads,
Compression tested by Ben (cheers mate!)
R3 starter motor,
New disks and pads all round,
new rear drop links.

This is how the car looked when I got it,

And now,

Next plans is a smoothed boot, then just enjoy it... get it out on track afew times in 2012.

Cheers :)

That was a photoshop... only realised it wasnt meant to be there when I read your comment!

I toyed with the idea of a big wing on the back... but soon decided against.

Yeah i like it!, i love the Strato as it is anyway its one of the best colours.

I wouldnt go down the big wing route, it only kinda works on heavy modded cars. I like the slight diversion from stock with your mods.

Maybe a rear carbon boot lip would work, just so it balances the front bonnet out, or a carbon loop spoiler.

although when changing to carbon, i would be temped to change the filler cap aswel.................................just a thought lol, am i gonna get slated for these comments?

Cheers people,

Vinnie, I like suggestions! I was thinking about a carbon boot lid... But a replacement OE lip spoiler in carbon would be a better, slightly more subtle idea I think.

I quite like the fillercap now, goes with the wheels... hated it when I first got the car, but it's grown on me.

Also, I'm on the lookout for some winter wheels with tyres, if anyone has any going cheap ;)

Looks great! :D As you say, the wheels balance the filler cap really well, don't they?

And a carbon reear spoiler of some kind would work as a very nice foil for the bonnet. =D>

Here's a couple of pictures on how the wheels sit, They are 18x8 ET30, so sit the same as a 20mm spacer on standards, fll the arches out alot more, and I've had no problems at the height it sits regarding tyres/arches...

And one of it's party trick...

I curbed a wheel on Thursday... So, Yesterday I paid for a new set of wheels, just waiting on them being delivered.

Rota GKR's, Enkei NT03 reps.. 18x9 front, 18x9 rear. Come with 225/40's on front, and 235/40's on the back, will see how they fit, but really I'd like to have some 255's on them.

Image

Also, have a Recaro pole position here out of my mates 172, in two minds weather to fit it in the drivers side, or just give it him back. lol.

Image

P.S. If anyone wants to buy a set of 5x114 bbs ch reps and/or a set of 235/40/18 R888's,... let me know :)

Little update...

The car's been at Hayward north getting a rebuild with a street port, and my exedy stage 1 clutch and racing beat lightened flywheel fitted. Feels like a new car, only 350miles into running it in though, sooo frustrating... But I'd rather be gentle with it to gain more in the long run.

Also, took a couple of pictures today after a wash when I went to put a couple more miles on it!

Next up is to sort the bodywork out as it is showing its age in places, and get the wheels done silver.
