Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
The final part I was missing has just arrived!!!!!!!
I've only got the intercooler, sump, coolant pipework and a little bit of wiring to fit and in theory I'll be able to fire her up later/tomorrow, tiny assistant dependant
Watch this space I guess.......

The coolant temp sensor... have you run the ground to the same place as the sense wire? The ground goes to the body of the hose adapter.

Is grounded to the chasis. Exactly the same as the old one was wired in just replaced with a new one and a tidier loom

I believe that is what's referred to as an anti climax

Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
So quick charge and she started.....
Then threw out all her oil
Looks like a leak from the sandwich plate, which I kind of expected as the gasket looked a bit battered. Off it comes so I can reseal everything and we'll try again. 3rd time lucky
Oh she's also throwing a P0336, which I'm going to assume is because the turbo's throwing out the timing but if someone can think of another reason I'm all ears

Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
that's not a correlation or limits code (not that id expect one) that's a circuit code. check the wiring.

Sensor or wiring fault, basically not the correct signals being received by PCM
Could also be something magnetic stuck to sensor, or damaged position plate.

Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
Eml was care of a not fully connected alternator
Start up was an epic fail. Sandwich plate no longer leaking so there's a win. The oil feed line however is leaking from the back so fairly sure the connector has had it. I bought some line just in case so tomorrow will be spent removing the old fitting, joining a section of new line to it, attaching it to the sandwich plate
On the plus side she started no problem, no exhaust leaks, gauges appear to be working fine and I don't have to dismantle the entire engine bay to fix the leak
We go again tomorrow

Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
I can now take the upper manifold off in under 20 minutes
Sandwich plate side of the new supply line is in but time caught up quickly and it's too late to get it all connected back up
D-day tomorrow

Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
Impressive. I can do everything apart from the rear bolts in about 20 minutes, but the one against the firewall probably takes me double that by itself with much swearing and hand damage. I had a numb arm for days after doing it on the PZ last month. Not sure if a 192 is easier...

Re: Shouty Luminous Green TURBO Car... & Chat
Joining a new section of feed hose isn't going to work. It has a metal core so barbs, sealant and clamps will be useless
New plan - replacement ordered and arriving tomorrow. Given the lack of space to get to the turbo I was expecting a massive struggle to get the old line off the turbo, most likely involving taking it all back out. Only way to get to it without full removal is from the engine bay with many extensions, one of those funny cut out sockets and a wobble joint, which I have managed to get to work exactly 0 times in my 20+ years of taking cars apart
HOWEVER!!!!!!
I am quite little. It turns out I can reach the line from under the car by getting my hand and arm in the tiny space between the gearbox/exhaust manifold/tunnel
taking the line off took give or take 2 minutes. As long as getting the replacement on tomorrow goes as smoothly everything should be back together in under an hour
Keep everything crossed for me
