bought these, should do nicely.
They look like a nice piece of kit and look slim line so not to much intrusion in to the pit.

Screwfix have Sandtex Ultra-smooth @ £5 off this week
https://www.screwfix.com/p/sandtex-ultr ... 0ltr/23771

I've found it very hardwearing and easy to clean.

You could use it on the floor of the pit too, mixed with some sharp sand for grip, though garage floor paint might last better being walked on

floated off the floor and moved the last of the block to one side so i can get a load of 803 delivered...
Image

I've 20 blocks left from what i expected to use on the walls, plus 1 pallet which was expected to be used on the columns that we decided where unnecessary.

that's not bad for a fag packet calculation! id have had about 1/4 pallet left over if id followed my original plans.

sold the remaining block for double what i paid for it :D

backfilled the rest of the pit with the remaining sand for the narrow area and 803 for the rest. less than a barrow load of 803 left now and all the backfill crud gone.

just have to trim the dpm, weld up the steel and pour the floor...

I have one question. How will you get into the pit when a car is over the top of it? Will you climb down there first then a mate drive in over you?

Looking good :thumleft:

there aren't enough swear words in the English language for the level of frustration I'm feeling this evening.

got all the steel ordered, only to realise i didn't take into account the mitres in the corners, so i am going to have to weld fillets in as I don't have enough angle...

got my head round how I'm going to deal with that only to trap my fingers when lining up (one of those days, swear grumble grumble)

go to tacking up, not enough gas coverage so loads of porosity. must have the gas too low, climb out of pit wind it up try again, nope no good.

put a bead down thinking i must be doing something stupid like not waiting for the post flow... nope....
Image

will have to cut that one out and try again...

ok, must be a faulty regulator, nick the one off the tig (that i was using last week so know its a1)...
nope, worse.

ok, something wrong with the mig... more swear grumble grumble.

oh that'll be it...

Image

massive hole in the argon feed pipe. plenty of slack though ill just pop the lid off the machine and shorten the pipe...

swear grumble grumble...

Image

bugger.
cracked for its entire length.

"rain stops play."

i need a beer.

still, got it tacked up...

Surely you've got some rubber hose around, originally meant for another purpose?

nope, it wasnt that critical to get it done last night and when i fix something, i like to only fix it once, so its the right grade hose or nothing for this one... argon is expensive!

still, all fixed.

all welded up..
Image

holes drilled to take bolts the nuts welded on top are temporary...
Image
Image

level being set with the bolts..
Image
Image
Image

4x pieces of 2" box for the corners to be welded in, the floor can then be poured and the bolts cut off flush and puddle welded. once thats done and ground flat, the bolts will permanantly anchour it into the concrete and leave a flat surface to run the jack on..

will be structurally finished tomorrow. then just electrics and ladders or steps.. depending on what i decide.

You don't fancy jumping into a pit and climbing out every time you work on the car James? :p What could possibly go wrong! Looking good though! Its honestly impressive how much work you get done in short little bursts!
