This event unfortunately clashes with the Shedfest weekend as i am travelling down south on the Sat 24th. I have done a few events with ExclusiveJDM before and The Motorist is also a great venue. We do occasional Sunday coffee&cars meet with the Yorkshire crew in the summer days. Would be good to join us next time.

Drew told me that many people are already committed to Shedfest, but I thought this could be a good alternative for people like me, who can't afford to go to Shedfest this year :)

I have been following the Sunday gathering topic, definitely something I would love to join. Just need to be careful not to drive my husband mad with me going to every event there is. (I would definitely attend all of them, haha!)

This event concluded, so it’s story time!

I was very excited to attend my very first car show. I was hoping I won’t be the only one with an RX-8, and luckily I wasn’t! There were 4 others, and we had a great time talking with some of the owners. I also had the amazing opportunity to see a mint condition RX-7 FC!

Got a lot of compliments on how mine looks like almost freshly out of factory and I met a young RX-8 enthusiast who was very excited to see one in such (apparently) mint condition and took lots of photos.

Got some rolling eyes about not keeping the Recaro seats, but then others thought the Evolve suits the car very well.

Got my first taste of nay-sayers and rotary shamers, but I found it funny how they “know more” about the car than those who actually own one.

We got some decent attention, mainly because my neighbour RX-8 got an old rotary block displayed, that was bringing in all the attention. This actually gave me some ideas for next time.

All things considered, I am happy with my first show, just wish it would’ve been a bit longer of a drive to get there so I could enjoy the car a bit longer

Great work Eva flying the club flag solo(ish)....I hope you suggested club membership to the fellow 8s you found in the area to expand northern members lol looks like a good show. It's a shame it clashed with the autoalex show in Goodwood or I would of popped along aswell. Ah yes the pub rx8 masters of knowledge, great arnt they. It's a shame people who think they are interested in cars or know what they are talking about are so easily influenced by misinformation and ignorance to cast further influence on others with alot of nonsense. If they knew what they were talking about they would know rust is a bigger risk than engines to all Mazda.

Thanks, I did promote the club, but for example the RX-8 owner next to me said he’s already in “RX-8 Familia” and that they have some beef with this club apparently. He said that modding is not very supported here. Luckily he didn’t make me feel bad about it and in the end we said goodbye with a hug and me suggesting collab meets in the north which he was open for as an individual. He even invited me to a Familia meet the following Monday but I couldn’t attend due to me going on holiday.

I definitely feel like there’s a missed opportunity here.

This again, I have tried reaching out to familiar before. For future ref, and to try and mend bridges, familia was founded many years ago by members of here that broke away following disagreements with legacy people in the club. I'm 99% sure that not one person they have or had issue with is even still a member or banned by us aswell. I've had told various members this before and we did have some good collabs at Japfest together and are next to each other at SimplyJap this year, but there is still a few people holding a grudge their end and influencing their side. To the point one of the main events organisers there side flat out refused to entertain me at japfest because of things from a decade ago I wasn't even involved with. One of the main things when I became chairman nearly 4 years ago was to work closer with all rotary communities to ensure the continuation of dwindling numbers by working together. Unfortunately it is not our end stopping ties and I do not understand this pack mentality of "I'm familia so I can't possibly be a member of the OC"? This is not the same club or people from their issues. Perhaps now as Event team or possible future EC, you may be able to build relationships with them and dispell the negativity. Especially as it sounds there is quite a few around you and a meet. The longevity of the platform/club and their club will rely on closer relationships in the coming years.
