Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
Fantastic day at Combe.
Well done to all involved with the organising. Managed to talk to just about everyone and glad to see we had some new members come along!
Had my arm twisted to go out on track and enjoyed myself (had been a fair while). Do need to resolve my brake pedal issue.
And find myself a bucket seat so I can get that in the car for more track time.

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
a good session not without its issues... but i made it to the chequered flag, which considering the previous 2 years, is amazing..
as the session went on my fuel pressure started to drop away as the boost rises (you can hear it miss high up) this is why im short shifting lower and lower as the session goes on. i think i have a issue with the main fuel line, as when tested, the fuel flow DROPS when it sees boost and demands more fuel, even though its commanding higher pressure as boost rises.
other than that minor hiccup, it ran really well.
last year the car was totally undrivable. brakes didn't work properly at all, it was stupidly peaky and tail happy and was trying to spin me into the nearest tyre wall constantly. what a change this year, boost came on predictably and much lower (having solved last years fuelling issue) making it drive out of the corners smoothly, the work i did to the suspension all round meant it could be aligned properly, which was done by hatton energy motorsport. those of you watching the drifting saw there car out there i'm sure. they did a bang up job and after looking at the tyres after the session, its showing perfect wear patterns for the usage. it was rock solid in the corner, and as malcolm observed, i was playing with bringing it on and off boost mid corner, learning its behaviour, and it didn't slip at all, you can just see it moving around on the suspension as it unloads and loads the rear.
i couldn't be happier with the car, just the last fuelling issue to solve and it will be bang on.

Yes indeed. Was another successful day out at Combe. Thanks for organising guys n gals. I probably wouldn't attend track days at all without the fine organisation of the Club.
Lovely Bacon roll and the Ginger cake was lovely too!

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
As Conan said, thank you to everyone who supported this event. A great deal of work went into planning and preparing for the day, so seeing smiling faces yesterday made it all worthwhile.
Thank you also to all the volunteers who helped setup the stand, with parking, cooking, bringing food, etc. Seeing Ian Mothersole's car stuffed with the gazebo, cooking gear, drinks, etc, at the beginning and end of the day just shows what a great club we have, where members quietly just lend a hand to make such days happen so smoothly.
Apologies to those members I didn't get to speak to yesterday. It was great to meet and speak to quite a few new faces, but the day just went by too quickly.
Feedback, positive or negative, is most welcome, so we know where we are getting events right, and where we can improve them. Comment on here, or via PM to me and or Conan.
Personally, I had a cracking day. The track session was especially good - my (near) 21 year old car (owned since new) and now on 105k miles, reminded me, once again, just how much driving pleasure these cars deliver.
I'm not back at home yet, but will aim to publish my track session video when I do.
Let's have some more photos on here too. I didn't get the chance to take many myself.

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
Well done everyone who organised the event and for feeding us
.
Personally I thought going back to this area was better and it was good to see new faces and catch up with members who have loved their Rotary's for what seems like forever.
Still cant believe, I've been to everyone since JDM started some 25 years ago !

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
I hope someone took some photos of the day and our club stand
I didn’t take any photos as there has always been people much better than me at taking photos before
Did anyone video our little procession through the show ground to assembly
Regards
Pete

I’ve only got these but you can clearly see the awesome club gazebo and the expanse of our club area we had this year and other 8’s if you look closely. Was having too much fun chatting to others and watching those cool drifters to concentrate on taking pics. I’ll bring my camera along to next one

A big thank you to all who organised the event. Great weather too.
Passers by really seemed interested in the “how a Rotary engine works “ model. It would be great if even more information was there, but it definitely caught people’s attention.
Bargain of the year was the £36 room at Swindon West Premier Inn.

Here's my in car video of our track session. Only 11 minutes from entering the circuit to the chequered flag, so our session was a little short, but I managed 7 laps. Had some clear laps and managed a 1m27.45 on road tyres - happy with that (my best is a 1m24.XX on semi-slicks).

And, at the request of Pete, here is the procession to/from the track. I had to stop on the way to the assembly area for a pee, so got separated from the main pack, just following nightfire10
