Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
Just came back through Chippenham today. Roadworks look to mostly be effecting the 350 north/south up to the roundabout for Combe. There may be some 40 zones for one or two roundabouts coming south from the M4 but nothing that should cause much hassle. In theory..

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
Ah your in the old area again, I like the planned layout ahead of time though and the engine display, work area to side. Always good to have a plan like that, I'm about to do one very similar to guesstimate the Hangar layout and external parking for the 120 at Benson Day. I do think they are very worthwhile, even if tweaks on the day are required.

Wow 6:30? Is the RX8OC track session that early? Also is there a whatsapp group chat for everyone. I'm not too sure what time I should be leaving the hotel and where we are all going to meet.

Could you not park in the eastbound side, but then walk over and stay in westbound?might need to be 'slightly earlier' as I have booked the wrong bloody hotel, should have booked eastbound I think! and travelodge are being a pain in the bottom, and wont let me cancel/transfer the booking!

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
Sadly that wouldn't work as the two hotels and services are separate entities for parking.
It's only an extra 15 minutes back around to east from west anyway. Requires one junction and back around.

casey wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 5:27 pmAs Conan mentioned above, we've been liaising on the plans for next Saturday and here is the stand layout plan we will aim to work from. You will have received a "RED GATE CAMP MAP" with your stand mirror hanger. The plan below is an expanded view of Area M5, M6, M22-M26 on that map.
Please be aware, when we see the actual scale of our stand on the day, and any "obstructions" (lumps of concrete, etc!), we might need to adjust the plan accordingly. There will be 3 parking marshals on the stand, so please follow their directions, as we have a lot of cars to park up!
PLEASE aim to arrive no earlier than 7.30am, to allow the Events Team to set up the marquee, gazebo, refreshments gear, and mark out the stand.
JDM 2025 Stand.jpg
Points to note:
For those on track:
- Refreshments (1 or 2 breakfast bacon rolls), water and soft drinks will be available. There will also be tea & coffee, but please BRING YOUR OWN MUG - only a limited supply will be available on the day. Members are most welcome to bring cakes, etc, to share.
- Refreshments are FREE to fully paid members, others will be required to contribute £5 to partake - still a lot cheaper then the trade vans! Cash would be good, else paypal or I can take card payments on my phone (if I have a signal!).
- Bring your own camping chair(s) to relax in the Club Marquee.
Don't forget to bring:Pete and I recommend you go to the Strawford Centre to sign on asap after you are parked up, maybe after some refreshments though. Then go to a COMPULSORY Safety Briefing session (every 20 minutes in garage near Strawford Centre, starting at 8am). Pete will provide some further advice in due course wrt noise testing timing and when we expect to leave our stand to convoy to the paddock.
- Long sleeved clothing to cover your arms and legs.
- Helmet (or hire one on the day - limited supply, so sign-on early for these)
- Your current, full, valid, DRIVER's LICENCE

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
to be fair, i always go to castle combe using a exit to the west of that services anyway. wouldn't be the end of the world to go west and exit and take the other route in.
the major upside of parking in the eastbound is you can drive out using the service road and cut right across directly south of the services knocking a fair amount of driving out of the route.

Hi All
Looking forward to this Saturday and cant wait to meet you all!
I'm planning on waking up early and driving from Preston down to Combe on Saturday morning.
From reading the above and the notes in the pass emails I assume its best to arrive between 7:30/8am?. Will be an early start for me as just under 4 hours from Preston ahaha.
If anyone else is coming down from a similar direction lmk and I'll be up to meet up enroute
Cheers
Luke

Yep, 7.30 to 8.00am arrival would be perfect. That's a very early start though! No problem if you want to arrive a bit later.
I look forward to seeing you there

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
DRIVERS , PASSENGERS FOR CLUB EXCLUSIVE TRACK SESSION AT 10 : 45
Please remember driving licence and reg no for drivers, passengers get wrist band from Strawford centre.
Bring crash helmets ( open face is best ) bring spare helmets if you have any.
Drivers and passengers must have arms and legs covered - no shorts and T-Shirts!
Remember to fit towing eyes.
I highly recommend that first time drivers get a novice sticker from Merlin Motorsport on site for 2.50 + vat**
Stick this in the rear window towards the right so people know to give you time and space
GO TO SIGN ON , BRIEFING AND SOUND CHECK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
ALWAYS SAY THE BOOT IS EMPTY AND EMPTY IT BEFORE GOING ON TRACK
Boots should be emptied into the Gazebo as soon as you can on arrival
Do not put the handbrake on when you return to the stand
Turn the engine off and leave in gear. Do not let the car idle as the oil is at it's thinnest and low pressure
Parade to assembly times
10 am get into cars
10:10 start your engines and line up tight left behind the 4 lead cars
We will parade slowly around the show ground and line up tight left in front of first assembly area
Please leave a gap between each car so the public can walk between the cars
Have a great time everyone
Great viewing from the bank or stands M5 and M6
Regards
Pete
Any questions just ask
**casey will have ONE novice sticker available on the day. First to claim it on here can have it FOC.

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
This will be the first JDM Combe i have not attended since 2014 and the turnout by members is impressive and rewards the efforts of Pete, Malcolm, and others, behind the scenes and in keeping this topic alive and full of information regarding from how to book to where to park on the stand. It’s a great stand location we have used several times at past JDMs and you will all have a fantastic day.
I will be at BMW Live at Oulton Park on Saturday with my i8 but first thing i will be thinking about you lot tucking into the legendary RX8OC breakfast catering!

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
Sorry folks - I won't be able to make JDM Combe this year...
I've neglected to get the Clutch & misfire sorted over past weeks and last night oil light came on whilst picking Joe up from station last night; topped up, and it came back on again on again on the next trip this morning!
I hope I haven't fscked the car (usually oil light on is premature in the R3 - and a short trip is fine before topping up)...
It's dripping on the driveway - looks like from Oil Cooler lines or sump (both replaced brand new December 2023)...
