Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
All (paid up) club members should have received the track session £5 discount code via PM.
If you haven't received the code, and you are a club member, then drop me a PM.
We now have 21 cars "signed up" for this session, so please pay for your place to secure it asap through the club shop (I've paid for mine!).
We will cap the track session places available to 23. With a track limit of 28, that will leave plenty of room out on track to have fun.
Well done to everyone who has booked their stand place so far, which is most of you
A gentle reminder that the £5 stand ticket discount code (see first post for details) expires on 5 February. So, I encourage anyone who hasn't booked their stand place to do so at the discounted price of £20 before that deadline.
There is still time to add people too the list. This is always a great day out at a lovely location. If you've never been before, put your name down. We are, I believe, a very welcoming club to anyone attending a club event for the first time.

Yea, Austin is a member, .. I will do the track session purchases separately then!casey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 1:11 pmI admire your enthusiasm and very impressed you spotted the tickets were now in the shopLWatson-Jones wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:06 amI can't see the exclusive track code anywhere on the thread?
also, can I book both myself and Austin in one transaction?
literally waiting with 2 in my basket![]()
The Club Shopkeeper posted only posted them up late yesterday for testing, to ensure the discount code worked. I did that last night and confirmed all was OK at 11.13pm. The plan was for the Ian (Shopkeeper) to post up about the tickets this morning, which he has now done. You were just too quick

Pete (Conan) will be PM'ing out the discount code to Club Members today. I'm not sure if your son, Austin, is a member? If he is NOT a member, then a single transaction will be fine, as the code gives a discount of £5 (however many tickets are in the basket), so correct for one member and one non-member; total £65. If he is a member, ideally put a transaction through separately, in each member's forum name, to ensure the total paid is £60.
I'm sure both of you will enjoy the whole process and experience; noise testing, safety briefing and getting out there! There will be plenty of experienced people around - if you need need help, before or on the day, any of us will be more than happy to help. If you have half decent tyres on your cars, you will be impressed by how well the RX-8 handles on track. Budget tyres will not bring the best out of the car.LWatson-Jones wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:06 amIts both of us 1st club meet AND we're track virgins too!!!
@everyone doing club tracktime. Check your messages for the discount code and, if you have not received it by 5pm tomorrow (Wed 29th) then shoot a PM to conan and casey and we'll sort it out
OOH, on the noise testing .. I am sure its fine, as MANY other Jap cars get louder than us.. but we're both decat and 'sporty' exhaust.. will that be ok do you think?

I can confirm, I have ordered and paid for both mine and my Sons Track tickets
will also make sure I have decent tyres on there (got really slippery i-Link (put on bu previous owner to prob get thru MOT!!!) but I've only done like 3000 miles in the last year!

Is that ghetto decats or Toyo straight pipesOOH, on the noise testing .. I am sure its fine, as MANY other Jap cars get louder than us.. but we're both decat and 'sporty' exhaust.. will that be ok do you think?
Is that Toyo cat backs or something else
I believe the static limit is 100db
I run Toyo manifold , mid pipe, and back box and I need mutes in the tail pipes to pass which I bought from Merlin motor sport at Castle Combe for about £20 and drilled them into the tail pipes
If you look at video on the roll bar sway bar post down this page you will have some idea of my noise level
Turn the sound to FULL THROTTLE
PS : Use 235 x 40 x 18 tyres

On tyres, have you looked here for ideas?: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=4303&p=1442252
Look at the last page and work a few pages backward - the topic has been running a while!
I've just had a set of Continental Sport Contact 7's fitted today (£525 inc fitting, 235/40/18). I was impressed when driven around Brands in December by a racing driver in a Hyundai i20 Sport with these tyres fitted. Also very good dry and wet performance reviews, e.g. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Contin ... tact-7.htm
I'm primarily buying them as road tyres, but also as "wet" track tyres, to replace some RainSports. I have a set of Federal 595RSR's for dry track work (road legal too).
The Goodyear tyre review:
https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Contin ... tact-7.htm
Admittedly only one review comparison. Prices for both tyres are about the same.

Nothing wrong with goodyear eagle F1 supersports. It's what I currently have and are great in the dry and wet. Obviously not as good as semi slicks in the dry. But is a great all rounder

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
There is just 3 days left for people to take advantage of the discount for a place on the stand at JDM Castle Combe
The discounted price is just £20 for a car and 4 adults with our clubs code
We are trying to achieve a minimum of 50 cars on our stand this year so if your interested please post up in this thread and we will send you the codes.
If you have paid please post in this thread so we can update the list in first post
Thanks to all who have signed up already for this great event
Thanks
Pete
PS : We will start separate thread for a swap meet at this event later for people to buy, sell, give away or swap parts etc.
This is ideal for people from all over the country to exchange parts

Re: JDM Castle Combe: Sat 31st May 2025
I've purchased:
JDM Combe Action Day 2025 Club Display Passes - Club Pass - £25
- For myself, plus 1x guest
- *Note: "Permit one car, driver and up to three adults in the car"
[JDM-T-2025] Exclusive Track Session - JDM Combe 2025 (10:45 am)
JDM Combe Action Day 2025 Track Sessions - Track Session 16:30 pm - £25**
(*) Presuming we shouldn't need to purchase General Admission tickets (1x per person) in addition to the Club Display pass, right ??
(**) NB. I noticed the 16:15 pm track slot was also £25 in the title, though (cheekily) the site is trying to charge £35 ?!?!
