Car shows and events run by other organisations (e.g. JDM Combe, Beaulieu, Go Japan, etc.)
Post up your interest in attending and if numbers are sufficient the Club will aim to organise a stand.

Hi Mark
Last year was a cock up, which is why i'm helping this year
The area given to us last year wasn't even big enough to get all our cars on
I have conveyed our disapointment to Castle Combe in no uncertain terms and i'm expecting better treatment this year
Thanks for offering help and full details should be published by next weekend hopefully
Helpers arrive as soon as gates open : we have marquee and gazebo to errect (marquee chap will need one helper) we need parking helpers with over 40 cars to seperate track and stand cars so both can be displayed and track cars can come and go easily. Food station assembled, flags etc, etc,etc
Nice colour blue by the way, which car are you bringing or both
Regards
Pete

The organisation of the stand sounds promising if you are creating a parking plan based on car type. Will make a nice change from me usually having to park cars as they arrive in an adhoc fashion. Combe last year did have space, however we were encroached by another club which I had to push back to get out full stand space and due to the location of last year's stand created a Track car area and show car area again adhoc, to prevent the cars going on track being trapped in. I do remember your disappointment Pete when you arrived towards the end of set up last year at where you had park for the track cars due to the stand limited space along the rear fence line and without power steering, however this was done to allow the stand to have a permanent display and easy access of the track cars.
In regards to Mark's question aswell, Nigel used to get "around" this problem by putting anyone in not going on track in the depths of 3 or 4 rows back of the display, all the track cars at the front to drive off and on as needed, especiallyat conve with our multi exclusive track sessions. I never particularly liked this for the 2 reasons, unique cars or show cars in particular that are good promotions for the car and club were often stuffed in a corner to not be seen. And also, when on track the stand looked empty and disprganised. Plus on return the cars were never parked back I how I would say a show display should look, I.e how I normally park them with all Bumpers in line as per AGM and every other show I normally end up parking the cars for as get there early. Obviously track cars on return tend to just pull in as and when with no one marshaling. Plus they often need tinkering when back in so you ended up with cars on the front of our display I'm pieces having brake pad changes, fueling issue trims etc.
Anyway, that's my 2cents worth on parking and arriving. Unfortunately I can't make this year which is only my 2nd miss in about 10 years, I look forward to seeing the pictures of the display and set up. And hopefully they've given a good location like the Anniversary area. Again I never much liked nigels spot he always requested behind the big hill everyone sits on, no one ever walks that way as they are up on the banking then drop down. Always felt like an afterthought location but again Nigel liked it for ease of track car access. This was disappointing for the people not wanting to track who were stuck behind rows of cars, in an area behind a big hill, and the extremities of the show. I know some people liked this area aswell though, but I always thought it was a really poor location in general other than easy access to the road for track and not having to fight through crowds, as there was no crowds in that bit? Anyway good luck with the stand and day. Hope you all have a good time. Will see most of you at the next show.

Well done Malcolm
And even though your on holiday you still managed to post up paid before I could
Have a good holiday
There is still time for people to get on our stand if they wish to do so

I have a random (probably silly) question about the track time!
as we all know.. no thrashing the 8 until its properly warmed etc.. how does that work, do we all sit at idle 10 mins before out allocated time?
Also, Austin and I will be convoying up from Exeter, leaving here about 06:00 if anyone on the way wants to meet.
We (yes I AM volunteering Austin, my son) are happy to help out where needed on the stand!
do we need to bring anything? or a better question, is there anything the Stand needs/wants?
Hi Lee
That’s not a silly question at all
Engine temp is easy but you need heat into oil, gearbox, diff, brakes etc
I run my car up 30 mins before and let it stand for heat soak into gearbox and oil
We assemble in an assembly are for a while before been let int the pit lane where we wait for the previous track session to finish so you can also warm up in these two areas
Take the first lap sensible to warm up brakes and diff ( and most importantly to know where the corners are and which way they turn ) Be careful with the second chicane as it looks like the track goes straight on ( the old circuit ) but is a sharp 2nd gear right )
Thanks for the offer of help and we always accept cake on the stand ( bring chairs )
If you want merchandise pm Ian Mothersole and he will bring it
Regards
Pete
I am certainly no racing driver, so wont be ragging the crap out of my car! I am mostly going on track just for the experience.
I will follow what all the other on track drivers do then!
Oooh, I can bring cakes and beverages and I have a couple of chairs somewhere I think!
So I can plan my trip, what time do we need to arrive at the stand?
15 minutes before the gates open so we can set the stand up for people helping with the stand
We ask people not helping to arrive a little later so we have time to erect marque etc
Information will be posted in the coming days so everyone knows the schedule
People on track need to bring their driving licence and know there reg number
All details will be posted shortly
Regards
Pete
Unfortunately it's worked out that I won't have my car for this - anyone able to pick me up from Leigh Delamere eastbound services? I have transport up the night before and back from Combe afterwards, just need the hotel-to-Combe leg.
I also have a club stand ticket that I won't be able to use; if anyone still wants one, let me know
Just had my mirror hanger/pass arrive by email
and OMG we have a large area
now just need to sort exhaust noise in the next 2 weeks lol (for both our cars!)
as was previously asked, what time to arrive at the site? because there is conflicting info
on the hanger it says arrive at 07:00 onwards
and the instructions document with it says 06:00
i dont mind.. just need to know what time to wake up!! (not that I wont be awake like an excited 5 yr old on christmas morning!)
the earlier the better, ill be first on site, ill arrive the day before, they will let you in at 6 iirc.
Are you coming up from Cornwall??
we are literally 1/2 mile from Jnc 30 of the M5 so would be happy to meet you and come up at the same time
He’s in a lorry
I don’t think you want to go that slow
He then sleeps in the lorry overnight
I think the gates open at 7am but I will check before posting instructions for everyone

Pete

PS : We will start separate thread for a swap meet at this event later for people to buy, sell, give away or swap parts etc.
This is ideal for people from all over the country to exchange parts
Apologies if I've missed it, was a separate thread created?

Yes it was but it’s dropped off the page so you may have to ask one of the mods to retrieve it which could be handy for club members
