An opportunity to exhibit your car at NEC Classic Motor Show (Birmingham): 8-10 Nov 2024

Post by casey »

Since 1984, hundreds of the UK’s best known classic car dealers, car clubs, service providers and traders have chosen the Classic Motor Show as their annual ‘showroom’ to reach the thousands of classic car and bike enthusiasts that attend this prestigious event.
https://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/

As the season finale, this huge event is a celebration of all things classic motoring, including everyday classics, thoroughbreds and prestige marques.

Organising a stand at this event is somewhat different to other shows. As we understand it, the organisers request car clubs to submit requests for stands, which the organisers then assess and decide which clubs get what space.

The RX-8 OC have submitted a request for a stand and so, separately, have the MRC (Mazda Rotary Club). We have no idea if one, both or neither request will be successful at this stage. However, we think the MRC has a better chance of getting a stand, as they are proposing a full range of Mazda rotary models, from the earliest they can muster, through to the RX-8.

Once we know if either/ both submissions are successful, we plan to work together with the MRC to utilise the stands space(s) as best we can to present the best examples of models across the range.

If you have a show-worthy Mazda rotary (any model through to the RX-8) then post up your interest in here. There is NO commitment (or guarantee) of a place at this stage.

The good news is, a place on the stand is COMPLETELY FREE to all exhibitors, plus you’ll get a few “friends and family” complementary entry tickets too. Ticket prices have not yet been announced, but I believe they are typically about £40/day!

Note that your car HAS to remain on the stand from Thursday 7 Nov to Sunday 10 November. But don’t worry, you don’t need to be there throughout the whole period. There will be members on the stand throughout to keep a watchful eye on your pride and joy!

Here are a few pictures of the stand Dean Bayley organised on behalf of the FD Owners Club in 2022 and 2023. The giant rotor was designed and constructed by him! The aim this year is to have larger stand(s), organisers permitting!

If you are interested, post a picture of your rotary below to get your request in to grab a place on at the show.

Yep, no problem Drew, yours is certainly a good example of an R3 to display.

I'll put you on the list :thumleft:

Good question. My instinct says unlikely at this sort of show, but I don't know if that is correct. I'll see if I can find any "rules" on entries.

I would very soon have a fine example for this show,a true icon of an RX8 is in the works, however i would not like to put my name down yet as i am not sure if the thing will be ready to roll until then.
