Car shows and events run by other organisations (e.g. JDM Combe, Beaulieu, Go Japan, etc.)
Post up your interest in attending and if numbers are sufficient the Club will aim to organise a stand.
(For more information, please contact the Events Coordinator or someone from the Events Team).
Yep, sounds like we're already in the same place so can likely just convoy to parking then continue in the one car.
I plan to set off somewhere 6:30-7 or so, but can adjust a little later if needed.
That's a relief.
I've had a chesty cough for the last 3 weeks that's refusing to go away and as I'm getting married in another 3 weeks I decided to rest up instead of coming along today

My car overheated whilst sitting in the standstill traffic, have had to pull out of the queue to get air moving, I don't think I'll be able to make it

Certainly didn't see quite a few people on the attendees list today. Good to catch up with some of you. I think the wind and the inability to set up a communal area and the usual hospitality facilities hurt the club community vibe.
JDM Combe is better...
I did however have a 10 year old to keep happy, so most of my day was spent walking around looking at cars and watching the drifting.
The RX-7 got a lot of attention and annoyingly has picked up a nasty paint chip behind the driver's door. I'm going to guess someone's zip hit it

I've just got back, unfortunately traffic marshals were not very good today and incorrectly placed on the lead in. After 45 min of standstill on the A43, I too had to venture into the outside lane with a 3 Yr old trying to get to a toilet. A very nice lady in a BMW 2 series from CarGurl culture let us straight in at the very top and actually waved us to come forward, as I was attempting to get in behind. This resulted in a mere 2.5hr journey time for the 30 miles (the first 26 taking 40 min). Again the carnage inside on the 4 lane ques once everyone had joined from all directions was a chore.
Ian and Alan were unfortunately stopped from erecting the Gazebo, flags and using the burners by the stewards for Health and safety reasons due to high winds. Meaning as stated above, we were unable to have our usual congregation area and shelter with refreshments. It certainly changed the day for the worst, as many sheltered in their cars for warmth, including us. I'm unsure how other car groups socialise properly without our set up, having now experienced the first time of not having it.
The show itself was huge. I think every GTR must have been there, they were 4 banks deep and 50 cars long. The Bilstein guys were on form and made a big fuss out of my son with lots of freebies including sunglasses, hats, multiple key chain styles, sticker packs, bags, pens etc. Big shout out to those guys.
A shame about the entry and weather affecting the day, thank you to those who braved it and turned up. We still put on a 22 car display including the x2 Yaris GR, Losing only a few to traffic or illness. We actually had a very nice plot, that had weather restrictions been different would of included an ideal gazebo place. Never mind.
See you all at the next one.

Big shame about the gazebo etc, I said a brief hi to a couple of the gang, but soon got bored of wondering around looking at t shirts and bumper stickers.
Skylines and the classic Datsuns were my highlights.
Bought a hat because I was cold, collected my Maguire's kit, and did one.
At least the car got a good run
I'm hoping Harry or someone had there cameras with them, I completely forgot to take any of mine or the stand like I usually do. Think it's because my hands were hidden in coat pockets all day.

There were lots of photos being taken of it but not by anyone in the club
Well me and Lewis had a great day. Got there early 7.30 ish I think. Missed all of that queuing malarky.
Had a good wonder and watched all the drifting. Then finished the day out on track which went well.
Sorry I Only got to chat to one or two members.
See you all at JDM.

Coming from Cambridge way, Google maps took me down to Buckingham and up through Stowe, round the roundabout and straight into the circuit. Within 5 minutes I was on the stand, that was 8.45 am. Something to remember if you're coming to an event at Silverstone again.
Ian brought along my new RX8OC jacket, which added an extra layer in the winds that whip across Silverstone. It is not uncommon, as I have witnessed similar winds on the many times I've spent there watching the F1.
None of Ian's speciality bacon rolls, instead a chicken burger with cheese and bacon was suffice at £11.50! Looking forward to more events this year when we can enjoy the spirit of the RX8OC community.
Not even the racing kept me from making an early exit.... all smoke and no mirrors if you ask me.

I usually come in through Stowe and Dadford but thought I would follow the instructions and stick to the main roads, I mean how bad could it be?
Very....
I *always* go via Stowe & Dadford to all Silverstone events.
Worst case they take you up to the A43 roundabout and come back on yourself. Even that saves miles of queues on A43 anyway.
Best case (BTCC days) - directed straight into the West car-park just off the Dadford road roundabout, or into main entrance from that roundabout!
Given the size of the venue, capacity of entry roads etc. (and usage even for BTCC or Grand Prix events) I'm astonished how badly organized they are to have those queues for Japfest!
(Sorry folks I couldn't be there - but in hindsight not really missing it this time!)
