Re: JDM 2022 Castle Combe 55th Rotary Anniversary - Saturday 9th July **Club Stand Space Now Reached**
Thought this was the best place to post a bit of a concern I have so everyone involved sees it
After chatting with Nigel last night at the MK meet I'm a bit concerned about the timings etc for getting everyone in and parked up. I know I don't know all the info for what's happening BUT please remember half of my day job is lining up cars to make them look pretty so I have a fair amount of experience with this sort of thing
Assuming the events team, Mazda UK and the timeline cars will be arriving first thing (as they should) that still leaves circa 80 cars (didn't count but can't be far off
) to get in the right place and lined up. With the arrival time Nigel has suggested that gives us roughly one minute per car, which is not possible without alot of very experienced marshalls/drivers and zero traffic from other clubs delaying entry (I assume we haven't got our own seperate entrance from everyone else). Just as a rough guide It takes 4 of us around an hour to organise and line up the 30ish cars on our forecourt, and we've all been doing the job for years
If all of this has been taken into consideration I apologise (not trying to step on anyone's toes or doubt the organisation skills of those involved) but from 10 years experience of doing this sort of thing an hour is definitely not enough time to direct mostly inexperienced people (dont think theres many people here that regularly park cars on display for a living/fun) and to put it bluntly will quickly end up being a s**t show, which I'm sure is the last thing anyone wants

Re: JDM 2022 Castle Combe 55th Rotary Anniversary - Saturday 9th July **Club Stand Space Now Reached**
Hi Christine, at the last count we potentially have 94 cars to get parked.
Thankyou very much for posting your parking concerns which I and the entire events team involved in the JDM day share 100%.
The RX-8OC allocated stand spaces will include the Mazda Rotary Club, FD Owners Club and the timeline cars of which Mazda are supplying two. We have 14 stand spaces allocated to us, 4 of these are opposite the our main area and this is where the Timeline, FDOC and non rotary cars will be parked.
As is usual everyone who has booked will receive their arrival instructions from the organisers which will advise which gate to enter and stand number on a mirror hanger. Each stand space will be marked by the organisers with a numbered sign and I am adding an A4 size coloured sheet to those signs which is much more visible from a distance.
There will be four, at least, parking Marshalls and each will have a list of all the cars in alphabetical order of forum names to confirm stand numbers and colours to the drivers. All this information will also be posted here in this thread.
That hopefully gets people quickly to their allocated stand and then it’s the spacing of the cars on the stand that is going to be the great unknown. My thoughts are cars will need to park parallel with a space to the next car being a maximum of the second “click” of the door retainer. People will be able to test this out in advance as all RX8s have the same door opening control.
Precisely which gate our cars will be directed through we don’t know yet but given our location it’s likely not to be the main gate.
Stand allocations are not being finalised until booking close off but given the number of cars “we” have booked the organisers have advised us regarding the stands we have been allocated but until the stands are allocated this information needs to remain with the events team.
Would you like to be a parking Marshall to assist with the above and help hopefully prevent a possible debacle?
As a final note we probably have from 7:30 to c9:30 to get the cars parked but the longer after 7:30 people aim to arrive the longer it is going to take for them to actually get into the circuit as traffic will be extremely heavy.
Oh one other little concern is that w3 have to get 68 cars off the stand for the parade lap and then get them parked back on the stand again!

More than happy to help out in any way I can and as Ollie is in my car (getting to be a bit of a habit
) there's another body to help out
As a suggestion we've previously used the little plastic sports markers (no idea what they're called but the flat cone thingys) to space out cars at trade shows. Makes things an awful lot easier if people are told to just park between the markers then it's just tweaking to make things straight and pretty

In terms of cones, I've got a set of 50 (might be minus one or two, but still
) saves buying all of them
