Arrangements for the scattering of Ray Harrison’s Ashes: Friday 3 December, Brands Hatch
A few minutes after noon, to allow the track and pitlane to clear from the morning track session, anyone who wishes to pay their respects are asked to line up in their car in the pit lane, behind “Ray’s” RX-8. The start line marshal will signal when the track is clear and we will follow Ray’s car (which may be led out behind the course car). There will be a procession, in single file, once around the complete circuit at ~30 -40mph, past the S/F line and then up to the top of Hailwood hill, under the footbridge, parking on Druids corner.
Helmets are NOT required and rear seat passengers ARE permitted.
Please exercise caution as you exit the pit lane and are about to enter the circuit. There may be vehicles exiting ACROSS the circuit, blending from your right, just before you come onto the track. There may also be track maintenance vehicles around the circuit.
Please park 3 abreast on Druids corner, to ease egress and entry through the marshal’s gate at the top of the hill, onto the infield at Druids Corner. You might want to bring a change of footwear and some suitable weather protection. It can get a bit muddy if there is heavy rain.
We will then gather inside Druid’s corner for the scattering of Ray’s ashes by his family, with maybe a few words and a moment of silence. If there is time, people may want to take some photos of the parked cars before we all set off again, in single file, back to the normal track exit and our garage area.
I would estimate this will take up to 30 minutes, so allowing time to get some fuel and food before the track re-opens at 1pm.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
