One of the cars blew it's engine causing a few spins and they ended the race.

Yep, red flag with 3-4 minutes to go, due to an Escort engine blow-up laying oil down at the chicane. Several cars spun out, so they decided to stop the race early. Clive was having a battle trying to get past another Escort for quite a few laps just prior to the flag, and had just passed it. He finished 16th, so improved on grid start position. 9 sec slower per lap than the 2 leading cars though! Needs a 20b to compete in this series ;)

I was at Donington yesterday. Some excellent racing and it was great to be able to go back to spectating motorsport.
The Thunder cars looked amazing and were very quick. The highlights were a gorgeous metallic blue fire spitting RX7 and a lovely wide arched Capri.
The RX8 from the OP was stunning as well but with such a field of high cost cars it was always going to be difficult to compete.
Great day but now nursing a bit of sunburn!

Hi All,
Well good news is car is back in one bit and engine is fine with 60 races on it, had a great tussle with Kevin Denwood’s BMW E46 then playing with my old mate Tony Paxman’s Escort swapping places just like we did 40 years ago!

Bad news is to put it bluntly, yesterday the car was junk, no power due to somehow running too rich and diff gearing way off leaving me to wait forever for boost to appear on two corners then the chicane.

To put it into prospective, looked at my data sheets and three years ago on a cold damp day in October on track day tyres and 140 bhp less I was 2.5 seconds quicker, so we had best not write the car off just yet !.

Still had a good day though, so thank you to the organisers and to the many drivers who welcomed me CTCRC Thunder Saloon Car Championship, after last weeks Mallory debacle. [-X

Looking forward to racing at Castle Combe on 3rd/4th July :thumright:

Yes, it looked close between you and the sky blue Escort. Did you get past him just before the second race was stopped?
What engine is in the Escort it sounded great?

Every time the boost dropped off because of the gearing Tony got me, just managed to stay ahead at the finish.
I think its a 2litre FVA engine. Tony’s not poor, he's just having another MK1 finished that’s cost 100K

How come your 500hp doesn’t get you past 200hp cars?
Looks like you holding back and some very strange lines.

Also as said the diff ratio was all wrong.
