I called the Hotel and asked for a table for 8 people for 7pm. They apparently don't take reservations

However, the guy I spoke to, Drew, was very helpful, took a note of our requirements and said he'd be on the front desk tomorrow evening and asked me to speak to him to sort out a table.

Booking for:

Malcolm & Gwyn
Ian & Jackie
Leroy &Rachel
Liam K
John B

I'll loiter around the restaurant/reception area just before 7pm and look forward to seeing you all there :D

I imagine, the more 'rural' Shell stations will be completely fine (if not a tad bit more expensive than average).

Meanwhile for normal E10 for me... Its 1.35~/L. The closest "premium" fuel station is a BP and I havent bothered to check if they have fuel or not... 161.99/L is day light robbery Harry!

Hi all
We are going to Castle Combe on Saturday and I am on the track at 09:45. I have just realised my towing eyes won't screw in, is anyone going who has a tool to clean up the internal thread?
Thanks in advance!

Take an angle grinder to one of your towing eyes and cut two or three slots along the threaded section thus making a rudimentary tap, coat in grease or squirt oil into the threaded hole, screw it into the housing till it stops, wind it back, screw in again and repeat. Each time it should screw in a bit further.
Failing the above someone may be taking a tap with them.

I seem to remember getting caught short in the 8 when i took it to uni year before last (I'd only had it like 2 months), i'd just started therapy to help me deal with the fuel economy infact. The Shell i used, which was round the corner from Campus, charged something like £1.65/litre THEN!.
You expect a few pennies to be tacked on here and there, but yikes :D

Perhaps we should hatch plans and buy (as a club), shares in Shell? :P Thus preventing this f*ckery

I'll bring my Tap and Die set with me, its fine threads though. Its a towing hook so i imagine it would use a fairly course thread, although our cars seem to love 'fine' threads. I'll bring it along anyway :D

Post by GreySilver Beast »

Good Morning everyone :thumleft:

If you beat the Events Team to the Club Stand tomorrow morning, then please be prepared to be asked to place the car somewhere else on the Stand

We will be placing the two club gazebos at one corner of the Stand at the front so as we can promote the club to passers by :thumleft:

Chris, Ian, Malcolm and Nigel will know what's happening on the day [-o<

We are supplying the usual Bacon Rolls, Hot Drinks, Cold Drinks, Snacks, Scones, Jam and Cream =D> =D>

Please bring cakes if you can for the members to enjoy =D>

We will have one non-Jap car on the Stand, which is the support car for putting the event on for you to all enjoy :thumright:

This year we're in a different location, so please bare with the Team, as it's also all new to us as well :!:

Hopefully there will be room on the Stand for James's Lorry [-o<

If you like your Annual Meet Welcome Pack Envelopes early, then please come and find Nigel before 2pm :thumleft:

That's about it and the whole Team look forward to seeing you on the day :P

Many thanks for your support :thumleft:

Plenty of fuel at the M25 Cobham services, M3 services and around Newbury (just off M4 to east of CC). All normal queues, ie effectively a few minutes wait at most.

£1.4999 per litre V Power at Shell to the south of Newbury. Polite notice asking people to limit themselves to £35.00 worth, but nothing to stop you putting in more or going round twice with passenger paying.

Update: M4 Services Westbound from Newbury have plenty of fuel too.

Car’s packed up with snacks for my 3 hour drive after work

Asked the valeter to give Flos a quick once over for me and he’s still cleaning her over 3 hours later - she wasn’t even dirty! Full polish inside and out so she’ll be gleaming tomorrow 🤩

It had better not rain now!!!
