Yes Mark,it was, luckily,i have a mate with a Manitou who shifted my machinery in no time, the rest was just years of junk,so i got very ruthless with it,and left my hoarding head in the house for once. By the way,how are things with you?,i hope all is well, rob. :thumleft:

Hello all, i thought that i would just point out that this meet is not just for people camping overnight, but open to anyone who just fancies coming along on either day too.
What would be useful though, would be , of the people on the list so far,how many of you would be planning on stopping over,as i was going to try and organise something for the saturday evening, whether it be a meal out with a scenic drive,or just a barbie and copious ammounts of lager, please give me an idea of your plans, rob.

Hello again,my major reshuffle seems to have paid dividends.Whilst cleaning out the shed[where the camper was,for those that know],i stumbled across this little beauty, lurking in the corner. Having found this extra room[which was always there, but hidden with years of crap],it has totally reignited my love of these cars, now that i have room to work on each and everyone without having to move everything,i can get on top of maintenance on all of them with equal enthusiasm.
Every car i own, whether it be mazda or ford, can now have the attention they all deserve, and the two breeds, although vastly different, seem to very happy stable mates.
It's quite odd really, but the mazda's have the exact same effect on me as the capri's do,but for very different reasons, however, the buzz is just the same. rob. :D

I loved the one I owned back in the late 70's (L Reg). Long gone, but spotted this one, identical colour and model (1600XL) in a pub car park in 2015 when doing a trackday at Blyton. Had a long and nostalgic chat with the owner :D

Personally,i think the rx8 will follow the capri in terms of value.
Ten years ago you couldn't give a capri away, now you are lucky to find one, especially the 2.8 for under ten grand, unless it needed a shed full of work.
My advice would be,hang on to your rx8,and keep the rust at bay, everything else is easily sorted, rob.

While we're still driving our cars, the only advantages if the prices rise are;
- it's easier to justify spending money to keep it running or "improve" it
- less likely to default to "write-off" if involved in minor collision.

Otherwise, increasing values are a potential problem, not only causing insurance premiums to rise but also security concerns.

I know loads of guys that have had their "old cars" for many years and 10-15 years ago could have left them parked anywhere without worrying.
Now they're "appreciating classics" and all the FB groups are full of stolen notices; especially early Landrovers, Beetles, Jags, Escorts, Mini Coopers,...

Exactly and why are they stolen? due to the biggest advantage they are worth more.

Unless your pretty plush to begin with it's always a nice warmer to know your asset is rising in value as you maintain it. Some cars are the best investment the ordinary man could have bar a house (depending on when they brought it and for what)
