"Dink Day"

Post by V8 Power » Wed Jan 30, 2019 1:06 pm

An idea for consideration as a future event/meet.
Not mine I might add as I pinched it from another club.

Organise a day where members could bring there cars along and have dinks, scratches and dents removed by a professional dent master. Maybe also do windscreen repairs?
I'm sure we could negotiate a greatly discounted rate if say ten cars were in attendance for the day.
Do it in the summer when hopefully the weather is more friendly and have a BBQ at the same time.

What do you think?

I think that's an awesome idea. So long as it wasn't £200 worth of fuel in travel I'd definitely go.
Always a winning idea when a bbq is mentioned too.

Solid idea, I was at RR a few years ago and while the car was there I had a good few dents and what not taken out of the car by a mobile guy that Ben called, only cost me 60 quid for a pretty awesome job

I'll need him again soon though

Chipsaway use quality materials and the guys are well trained.

Being a franchise the quality of each individuals work can vary I've been impressed by one-but-one of the guys I've dealt with, and he was so bad I didn't even get as far as getting anything done.

Anyway, as a franchise they are able to negotiate deals for this sort of event, so might be worth approaching.

It could be worth arranging for multiple locations across the country rather than getting everyone to a single point.

How about the morning after the AGM too?

One of the other car clubs I am a member of have a twice yearly "Ding Day"
Essentially what you guys are suggesting
Always popular, and the ding bloke has been fully booked (Last summer they had 3 guys) long before the day along with a reserve list on a bog roll
They also had a guy that did headlight polishing/restoring as well

The problem you will find Grahame having ideas like this is that you as the originator are now expected to make it happen.
Evesham is geographically quite well placed too, further enhancing your suitability as the event organiser.

Did we get anywhere with this in the end?

I picked up a lovely dink in my rear passenger door recently that could do with some TLC.

A dink from a door in a car park is not as simple to remove as a simple rounded dent which can often be just pulled out. The crease from a door generally has to be "removed" by pushing the metal back from inside the door which required specialised tools and a skills. When I enquired about having some car park door creases removed the Dent Doctor advised it was not possible where they were due to an internal crash bar inside the door which prevents access to the door skin.

If anyone has resprayed panels then I would be wary of using a glue pull tool to remove a dent, I am sure you can guess why!

Only just spotted this. Depending on when people are up for doing such a thing, I could potentially offer up the stable-yard as a good space to do it and there's ample parking.

Would need to be green-lit by the wife first, though :)

I found this picture in another forum and have been dying for an excuse to use it here.
Not quite as good an excuse as "I need to get the wife's permission to come out to play" but I can't be bothered to wait for the next one of those.
Anyway :p
