Thanks to those who suck with me on troubleshooting car problems.

The car cut out on my last session and whilst it would crank (and sounded like it had good compression) it wouldn't start. The car had also blown quite a bit of coolant oit and the exhaust tips were white showing that it had been running very lean.

On closer inspection the plugs were shot, with one of the leading ones completely missing it's electrode and the other nearly all gone.

The car appears to not be priming the fuel system, after rooting through the fuses and relays the car is blowing the EGI COMP1 fusethis appears to control the circuit relay which in turn controls the fuel pump.

I cannot thank quackers enough for allowing my to steal parts from his car in order to crawl home.

A quick Google has pointed to a faulty rear O2 sensor being the probable cause for the fuse to be blowing...

Tell me the time you did and I will tell you it is better than average 😉
It depends on driver and mods, tyres, pads etc
Obviously PZ suspension is the fastest mod 🍷😄
I did do rough guide with different set up once.

The missing electrode is a concern though..as has it damage side or apex seal.
And reasons for bumps.
Ill update in morning.

It looked like it had burned away tbh Jon

I've kept the plugs anyway

We did turn it over with the plugs removed and it all sounds very even.

I pretty sure engcont1 feeds coils and if bad spark has taken a coil out...could be source of problem...

cars just not getting any fuel from the pump to the engine.

Hopefully a photo, two in some cases, of every car that was there today. Many, many thanks to everyone who came today and I hope you enjoyed the day as much as I did. Great to meet you new folks and apologies for not knowing the names of some people I have met before, Ok with faces but names are another thing for me!
If you want a high res version of any photo then PM me with a copy of the photo and your email address. Special thanks to Ann for being a sport posing on her bonnet for Leroy presenting an irresistible photo opportunity! I nearly got a snap of Clive checking his nuts too!

Please don't quote this post as it will repeat all the photos

It was a hot day. 8) Big thanks to everybody who had anything to do with anything (organising it, setting up the stand, leading convoys, cooking bacon, providing eatable things, providing good company etc .... I hope you all know who you are, I do mean you). =D> =D> =D>

It was a great day as usual and weather performed well again. Thank you to everyone involved in making this a memorable event. Food was delicious, great people and great club to be a part of. Thank you Nigel for the car decal, had a perfect place on the windscreen for it. Lovely photos of the cars!! My parents thoroughly enjoyed it and the track sessions. A big thank you to Ian for taking my Dad out as a passenger and showing him how it’s done!! See you all soon :D

The missing electrode is a concern though..as has it damage side or apex seal.

It looked like it had burned away tbh Jon

I've kept the plugs anyway

We did turn it over with the plugs removed and it all sounds very even.
What plugs were you running?

I *know* people say that "hot plugs" are fine for track work but Mazda themselves were very clear that they should only be used for cars that spend their time pootling around in traffic, especially the US/JDM autos that change at at too low revs.

I'd like to add to the chorus of thank yous for the organisation, not to mention for the food and drink! I had a good walk around the event, and there were few clubs with areas as well appointed and as friendly as this one's. All in, my food spend was £2 for an ice cream which given I didn't bring anything with me is miraculous. Next time however I shall arrive armed with cookies for sure!

By small way of recompense, below are a selection of my photos from the day. Cheers all :)

What plugs would you say are ideally suited for a track only car ?
Thanks
