Snetterton 300 Circuit - Tuesday 9 September £209**

I have already booked and paid for this event and invites others to join me. I've booked a garage, which I'm is happy to share (contribution towards the £40 cost gratefuly accepted), and he will setup a drinks/snacks table with kettle for hot drinks.

This event is being run by Javelin, who always provide a good fun day. This is one of the longer circuits in the UK (full lap about 2m 30s) with a great variety of corners, from a tight hairpin to Coram, a 90mph+ bend that goes on forever

What a great day; superb weather, pretty good track etiquette overall and plenty of trackktime, despite quite a few red flags (mostly very brief thankfully)!

A smaller group than in previous years, but great company to make the day most enjoyable. Lovely of Haydn to pop in to say hello too

My best lap of 2m 24.4s didn't quite manage to better the PB laptime I set earlier this year, probably down to my tyres, well worn Federal 595 RSR's being on their last outing, but it was fun trying

Alan and I had several very enjoyable sessions out on track together. It showed Alan had a very slight edge over me, shown by Alan setting a new PB (1.XX seconds better than mine ) - well done Alan . I'll let Alan report the details himself.

I was very impressed in a passenger ride with REF. A largely OEM car and road tyres, Robert was taking excellent lines (IMHO) and extracting all he could from the car

Sad to see Nick had two black flags for noise and so had his wristband removed, but at least he managed to get in a lot of tracktime up to the mid-afternoon session.

Here is a video of my best effort. I'll see if I can cobble together a compilation later of some of our cars on track.

Excellent track day. Maybe a bit too much traffic in the morning and a few red flags, but perfect conditions and no issues with other drivers. It improved as the day went on and the track got quieter.

I enjoyed a number of sessions with Malcolm in the morning. Given how consistently good he is at Snetterton, it's something I've wanted to do, but never been able to achieve in the past. This time we were able to lap together, doing pretty identical pace, with only traffic having some impact. I didn't do so well on the few times that I was Infront of him, which saw me make a few mistakes due to overdriving just as my tyres were going off...

It took me a few sessions to get my tyre pressures right. On one morning session, I took a bit to much air out of the fronts and was getting chronic understeer. 30 psi seems to be the sweet spot...

I also found the tyres starting to go off after a few fast laps, which is not something that I've experienced with the AR1s before. I guess now that they're not new anymore, maybe the effect of previous heat cycles could be showing. They are still exceptional tyres though, and would probably be the main reason for my small advantage over Malcolm. I was really pushing them through Coram especially, and getting quite squirmy, managing speeds faster than on previous visits.

The car was working really well. My previous Snetterton pb was a 2:26.07 on a reliability disrupted day last year. I beat that 16 times yesterday, with the best being a 2:22.59. The only difference being the new engine and some more aggressive driving.

Odd how low the club turnout has been for track days this year, especially this one given that we achieved a staggering 30+ cars last year, but hopefully we can rectify that.
