2025 Track Days

As Javelin and Circuit Days are running sales until the end of the year, and we haven't managed to organise many club track days in 2024, I'm posting this in the hope that we can get some interest going for a few well attended dates next year. Track days are always more fun with a good club turnout!

Personally, I'm happy to join any date that I'm free for, from the spring onwards (on the assumption that I'll have a new engine fitted by then).

I also think that it would be great if we could support another of Mazda On Track's days other than the Brands date in December that we always do. While kindly giving me a partial credit at Brands a few weeks ago, Nick D was telling me that he'd lost £14k on his days this year. MOT days are always well run, low traffic and they've supported the club in the past with their hosting of our annual meet track day at Blyton Park a few years ago jumping to mind. I'd be interested in either of their Oulton or Donington dates in November

If I have one resolution for ‘25 it’s to get out on as many track days as poss so I’m on board. Donington is one I’m keen to visit but otherwise open to anything.

Excellent suggestion Alan and hopefully Will as the clubs Events Coordinator with pick up the reins and work with you to promote this idea.

I'm sure once we have a few dates, Will can help promote them, but historically speaking only a small number of track days are Events Team supported and that generally only happens when they've already gained a fair amount of traction. So it's up to us individually to get the ball rolling.

The Curborough Sprint day is a good example of a club organised track day in the works, and should be great for any novices wanting to try a bit of track action as well as offering a challenge for the more experienced.

I have updated the first post with a few options. Please indicate if any of them appeal and look out for dedicated threads in due course.

The Curborough date is going ahead. Please continue to sign up on the thread, as the cost per person will depend on the number of people signed up (but it's already looking to be good value based on current interest).

I am also booking Croft on Monday 11th of August, so have added that and will set up a dedicated thread for that shortly.

I am also strongly considering Donington Park with MOT on Monday 10th November, and it's virtually guaranteed that there will a good turn out for Brands Hatch on Friday 5th Dec .

Sadly Circuit Days aren't running their September Snetterton date next year, which we've strongly attended for the last 2 years. An alternative could be going with Javelin on Tuesday 9th September. Also a few more track days in the spring and early summer would be welcome.

The RX-8 is an incredible track tool and our track days have sadly been remiss recently
If people wanted to get a few together for a track day at Castle Combe I would be happy to come down for a few tips on driving the circuit ( not saying I’m any good at anything )

As Events Team Coordinator I'd already delegated track days to Malc actually. But well doen to Alan for getting the ball rolling and as he says, members need to show some interest too if there are particularly popular track days. Then we can certainly sort out something special. Otherwise you can spend a lot of time flogging a dead horse.

Several Track Day Operators are running Early Bird booking discounts, most of which expire on 31 Dec 2024, so make use of the next few days to look at what is on offer

I shall be looking this weekend and posting up some dates/venues I intend to book.

Now we have a new track driver ( Mercedes ) we will be looking at :
Anglesey ( good noise limit for us )
Brands Hatch ( in summer ) and December
Donington ( GP circuit ) rather than national
Castle Combe if a few people want to do it
Oulton Park
Caldwell Park ( excellent circuit at good prices at times ) mini Spa

We’re not saying we will do all these but that is what we’re looking at

I want to commit to more trackday and Joe also interested in a trackday in his mx-5; so if I can plan one for him we'd probably share his car for one day... (use my track tyres). I think I'd prefer he tried brands first (any suggestions?)...

Snetterton, Donnington, brands and Thruxton are probably my preferred / closest (except Snetterton requires some logistics planning)... I like Oulton too.

Bedford Close too - but bad demons belie!

Never done croft, curborough or Cadwell.

Will deffo do brands in December and looking at Snetterton in April (per caseys messenger thread).

I have now booked:

Snetterton, 14 April, Javelin
Snetterton, 9 Sept, Javelin

Both dates with garages, which I am happy to share (and will bring refreshments table).

I will add these to the first post shortly and start a separate topic for each later in the week.

I will book Brands with MoT on 5 Dec, but will wait for my credit card to cool off

Likely to book Donington with MoT on 5 November, but will wait for a while to decide.

Can't yet find a Thruxton date that works for me.

I'm currently looking at trying to book a ski holiday on that week in March, or otherwise would have possibly fancied Mallory Pete. Although while I'm waiting for my engine, I'm a little wary of earlier dates.

I'll be booking the 14th April Snetterton date before the sale ends and then the November Donington and December Brands dates with MoT once the credit card has recovered.

@ SeanP. Join us for Croft! Cadwell is great, but probably an even longer journey, although I am very keen on going back there. Oulton is another I want to revisit. Bedford is convenient now that I work close to it.

Croft is showing up near Middlesborough(!?) - 4.5 hours drive vs Cadwell near Lincoln - 'only' 3.5 hours drive (1.5 from my sister in Mansfield)?

Oulton is fantastic - and I can stay with family in Shrewsbury its not too far from.
