I would have loved to have joined you, but family comes first, so had to give this a miss due to a family birthday.

Hop eeverybody has a great day tomorrow - unfortunately on this occasion; things have transpired against me being able to take part; not least getting an Oil leak on the Cooler lines and they're planned to be replaced (under Warranty!).

Saw your car on the trailer when I paid Nick a visit last weekend. Hopefully you get your various issues sorted soon and maybe steal your son's MX-5 in the mean time, come to a few meets and do some revenge burnouts Image

Last minute repairs prior to track day, luckily Nickp47 at Enjoyable Cars had a spare race pipe and just about time to squeeze it on for me. Massive thanks to Nick, as suspected my Resonator had decided it no longer wanted to be Resonated. The upside is all the loose internals which sounded like a bag of spanners on acceleration has now gone, but also I suspected it was louder than usual but the drive home was a blissful rest for my poor eardrums.

Really great morning thoroughly enjoyed it, great fun. No overheating after the radiator foam fitting, yay! Unfortunately two corners before the pub lunch, my clutch let go. So the car is now sat outside Tamworth Clutch Centre and we're back at the Lichfield Premier Inn. Train home on Monday, and then back again when it's fixed. Now for the pub and some sightseeing Image. And special thanks go to Harry for volunteering to ferry everything I'd left trackside, back down south, it's very much appreciated Image

Now consoling myself with a small cup of Merlot.

That was a great day, sorry yours was ended short by a clutch fail. At least it was at a pub and not on the track. Great bunch to do the track day with, everyone had a good laugh. The car held up well, my bigger calipers may have been touch much for the discs at one point after no doubt scaring will a little in the passenger seat by nearly overshooting a tight corner, bit of blueing on them from heat but not warped touch wood. Other than that the car was flawless and back safe.

Well Curborough was a good day out. I'm actually very impressed with it as a small but very technical track, and I think it offered something for everyone at all levels of experience.  Pretty safe given the low speeds, although it was a different animal during the rain!

Leroy's clutch failing was a shame. It would also be nice to go a month without a burger gate at an RX-8 social. Image

I had a lot more fun in the afternoon once I decided to turn the TCS off. I leave it on generally, but on a tight mostly 2nd gear circuit, it intervened far too much, and despite a few mistakes, it was nice to have full control over rotating the car through the hairpins. The Kaaz diff does a great job in those conditions.

Plenty of running with the low low numbers.  For the last half hour, it was just me, Josh and Nick lapping constantly with the whole place to ourselves Image

Think I've got Racebox telemetry, so will try and produce some videos.

As was discussed, it would make a good annual meet activity one year, given the central location and appealing to all abilitity and experience levels.

Thank you for organising this, it was great to meet you in person and to test out the beast.

I have had a great time and I got so much more confident with the car. It really did help that we intentionally squeezed out some drifting from it to learn how to control a slip.

The knock, that we first identified during intense breaking now can be heard when turning the wheel sometimes, so we suspect it will be a broken bearing somewhere. I have put the car to rest for now until it can be fixed.

In the meantime I have also shot some pictures.

I pulled the Insta360 footage last night and have a few videos that I'll get edited. I'm away with work a lot this week though, so won't be quick, as I'll be trying to overlay my RaceBox telemetry which is a bit involved. Looking like my best was about a 1 minute 35.

The footage from Nick's car shows a really fast lap, about 3 seconds faster than my own best effort.

The external footage from my own car is pretty good too.

When I timed you just using my phone I got about 1:33.5 , I think more than once so will be interesting to see what times you have from your Racebox.
