Club 100 Calendar 2021

Post by v-rex »

So the season is underway and I'll put the calendar up in case anyone wants to come and watch.

It's a bit funny at the mo, as clubhouses are still closed, masks need to be worn etc, but I am sure that will lift soon and then anyone is welcome to come down to spectate. If anyone let's me know in advance I can sign up to 2 people in currently when I register for each round.

https://club100.co.uk/championship/heav ... ship-2021/

The championship rounds are :

Round 1 - Sun April 25th PM - Clay Pigeon, Dorchester, Dorset
Round 2 - Sun May 16th AM - Whilton Mill, Whilton Locks, Daventry
Round 3 - Sun June 13th PM - Lydd, Lydd, Kent
Round 4 - Sun July 4th AM - Glan y Gors Park, Conwy, North Wales
EDIT: Some issues with this round so it's been changed to
Sun June 20th AM - Buckmore Park, Chatham, Kent
Round 5 - Sun July 11th PM - Rye House, Hoddesdon, HertfordShire
Round 6 - Sun August 1st PM - Ellough Park, Beccles, Suffolk
Round 7 - Sun September 12th AM - Bayford Meadows, Sittingbourne, Kent
Round 8 - Sun September 19th AM - Llandow, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales
Round 9 - Sun October 10th PM - Whilton Mill, Whilton Locks, Daventry
Round 10 - Sun October 31st AM - Lydd, Lydd, Kent
Round 11 - Sun November 14th PM - Bayford Meadows, Sittingbourne, Kent

I'm doing the superheavy weight sprints on the sunday and the lightweight/heavyweights alternate AM/PM. There are other endurance races on the saturday of each weekend above so again you can go and watch once everything is lifted.

Some of the rounds are live streamed so I'll put up those links on here as well when I find them out.

Can't recommend these enough. Karts are fun to watch (especially the testing pile ups if it's damp during testing). Great way to spend a an afternoon watching.

Yeah I always think it looks so slow in the videos. The live stream is good but so much better actually live at the venue. Esp when everything lifts and clubhouses are open, and you can get a good view from the balconies.

If you end up doing the Llandow round I will most likely head down for a watch.

Well that must have been very frustrating for Vinod. Even the commentators made a nod to how many incidents he was on the receiving end of. He was leading the indoor champ in the c final but I fear a cone penalty will have dropped him behind.

Yes I've already booked in for that round and looking forward to it. Llandow is a great track. Very technical, don't think I've mastered it properly but always glad to keep trying. Will be great to see you there for sure!

Yeah not sure where I hit a cone but it was probably whilst trying to get past the pack I was in. It's frustrating at the moment as the extra lockdown weight is killing me, even on the straight where I can do nothing. I really need to shed some kilos ( this isn't a fact I just became aware of but a repetitive theme this year).I think this must invite people behind to try and overtake as they catch up to me, but then their attempts have been a little amateur to get past me. What annoys me is that I don't defend particularly hard either and if someone shows their nose with a decent overtake I'll give them the corner without much fight. Some people aren't clear on the decent overtake bit it seems.

Next round is Ellough Park near Suffolk which is a great track but not live streamed sadly. Hopefully I can shed some weight before then to be more competitive. Next live stream is Bayford Meadows in Kent on 12 September. I'll put up the link once it's available, and of course welcome anyone to come watch and say hi.

Another change to the schedule and Round 10 is now Lydd on Romney Marsh, and I think still maybe live streamed. I've edited the calendar above to reflect the change.

Llandow this weekend AM so need to be there 8am. It's a bit of a drive and with the M4 being shut as well this weekend, I was hoping to find a hotel to stay over on saturday night. Not sure what is going on, but all the hotels are booked and silly money. Even the two premier inns I found were asking £140 a night. Even the largest Elvis festival in Porthcawl is not till next week.....

https://elvies.co.uk/

I guess everyone getting out and about after lockdown.

So it will be an early start. Not live streamed sadly but here's some track footage from a while back. The TKM clutchless karts we had in those days weren't as quick as the rotax we had now but you could really throw them about and lock up under braking so were alot of fun. I think sadly clutches are the way forward, health and safety and also laziness.

Given my extra lockdown pounds, I always do a rain dance before each race but no one is listening up there, as most of the races this year have been dry and sunny. This one looks no different. At least there is less washing to do after ...
