Track day Dubai Autodrome

Post by Ranjan » Mon Sep 28, 2020 9:28 pm

I have booked this as I have a new car to take on track.
Only ever driven this track once before so I will be all over the place in the dark.

I was there 14 years ago on honeymoon, went to the track early and found out it was too hot to go out on track :(...

Have fun look forward to the pictures

Yup, all track days here are held once the sun goes down otherwise you would cook in your car half way round.
It has changed a bit in 14 years but not much.

I’m well up for this
Basic economy flight is £292 return
Premiuim economy flight is £588 return
As Graham said , we need footage of this .
I do blame Malcolm about the “ if there’s no evidence it didn’t happen scenario “
He started it all in the lap times thread
Always says need proof of that or it doesn’t count

Ok, I will see what I can do but have you seen the interior of the car I am driving; there is no where to put a camera except the windscreen and that is such a boring view.
It may seem like good value but this particular operator only allows 3 sessions of 25mins.
It was the only one available in my time schedule.

On the basis of the above I don’t think I will bother! Just a soundtrack would be a good consolation.

After the Eurotunnel it's a straight run down. The drive through Saudi Arabia alone would be worth it. Maybe avoid stopping in Syria and use a jerry can for that bit. Future AGM perhaps?

At a generous 300 per tank, about 15. Assuming nobody is driving through Germany and other bits at a staid 50mph, it'd probably be safe to call it 20. :thumright: (plus track fuel and then the drive back!)

NO!

Well that was 48 hours I want to forget; things coming out of all my orifices.
Feeling a lot better now but now cannot sleep and it is 3.30am here; chance to catch up on some emails I suppose.

The drive through Saudi Arabia alone would be worth it.
That route through Saudi (Highway 65) would truly be an adventure and a half.

Imagine a desolate, windswept road, good tarmac and virtually traffic free along most of it; vehicles are usually buses and the ubiquitous lorries but some parts are like driving through the middle of Manhattan, some parts like driving trough the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, and others like being in Death Valley. No one follows the speed limits as there are no police or cameras anywhere, but you will need spare parts and a mechanic; no one will come if you break down; but other vehicles do stop to give assistance.

Most foreigners who attempt this always have helicopter back up.

I did a section of this route for two weeks on camelback sleeping in tents, it was glorious (the night sky was like being in space), I can highly recommend a desert trip at some point in your life.

Ranjan.
