Blimey, these track days are going to be manic if everyone of them is going to be fully booked, especially Mallory  :!:

Was speaking to a friend of mine about this trackday and he said he loves Donington can he come and watch ? I said I think I need to book you in to watch I think, given all the COVID rules, and if I'm booking you in then there's no point you standing around watching so you might as well drive. So I now have a +1 driving my car, his name is Will. Let me know if you guys know of any special rules given COVID I/he should follow to make this work, thanks !!

Ranjan, also put the fear in me that this is going to be a bone dry day, and will shred my rainsports, so I now have a spare set of PZ alloys with some lightly used Federal 595RSR's on that I will bring if it's looking dry on the day. I've never used semi slicks before so I almost want it to be dry so I can try them.....

Even if it's bone dry (it won't be before 11am, I'll bet KitKat on it) don't use those Federals if the temperature is below 5 degrees.

KitKat? Some sort of prison currency as an alternative to smokes? :-k

Ok, so I'll be monitoring the forecast on this one carefully as I won't even bother bringing them if it looks like no chance of dry weather or >5C temps. Saying that the forecast said today was going to be torrential rain and it's bone dry and sunny ( albeit still cold )

take out your back seat squabs (not totally necessary though) and load your RSR's, 2 each side. It might slightly compromise the driver's seat going back as far as you might like, but it's very do-able.

If I take mine, this way, I never need them. If I don't, I always wish I had

I will be contacting the lucky member in the next few hours to take Ranjan's place :) ,unfortunately he has had to pull out of this event following on what happened at Brands Hatch yesterday with the MX-5 Turbo :(

I wonder who it will be

I got 2 at the back on the passenger side when I picked them up. 1 behind me and then 1 in the boot. I guess 2 should be easily doable behind me if I squeeze. I just need to get them in right.

Now I just need one of you to not bring yours so I can have the schadenfraude of needing to using mine.... :D

This has been lingering in my mind. Is there a guide or something on how to take these out? I've never done it before...

They just unclip by pulling from the back of the squab seat base, like you would do with a Ford Seat when putting the whole back seat down :thumleft:

Thanks. Will have a look today as I've got the car out for the last kart race of the year. Sounds like it should be easy....

Expect any needed follow up questions on this to be tinged with embarrassment and sheepishness if so....

It's far easier in the RX-8 compared to the GT86 as you need a Spanner on that car to release the Squab :!:

Swing by on your way back and I'll show you how the seats work.

You actually pull up the front edge of the rear seat squab and to remove the backing squab there are two bolts at the base.

Just to note, I don't remove my rear seats when transporting my track wheels. I just stack two on each side horizontally on a cover and still have plenty of driving seat space and I'm not exactly small. Lol

Thats how I used to transport mine too, at 90' to their normal direction. If you roll them slightly "up" the transmission tunnel and hold there the rear door closes easily.

Thats the trick. The wheel closest to the front seats get push up a little as Chris mentioned. :thumleft:

Thanks guys. I've taken a day off before Donington to get the car prepped, and it sounds like I have a few configurations to try!

I'm probably going to order some tyre covers for seat protection during transport and to protect them from dust in the garage whilst they are being stored during the cold winter.

Theses come in handy. I've got both makes but prefer the Quality of the Heyner. Just make sure you get the right size set.
