Javelin rules attached.

You cannot have anyone from another household in the car with you unless they are in your support bubble. But you can have an instructor as a passenger so long as you have full face helmet with visor closed or open faced with a mask and you give 48 hours notice and they hold an instructor license.

Looks like I'll be relying on my memory of last year. Chris, what brakes was the car running when you collected it?

I fail to comprehend the consistency of these two statements from the Javelin rules:

 Passengers are only permitted if they are from the same household or part of your ‘support bubble’.

 Private instruction is now permitted on our events providing the driver and instructor each have either a full
face helmet with visors closed, or open face helmets with a face mask.

That doesn't make sense to me!

Note also to those who might be used to hiring a helmet at these events:

 Helmets are not available for hire.

They're giving people the opportunity to designate their passenger as a private instructor Malcolm. And differentiating that from a regular passenger.

In theory someone could abuse that and call any passenger an 'instructor'. But the TDO probably thinks it's worth the perceived risk. Especially as their faces will be covered. Poor driving standards on track being a greater immediate threat than Covid.

(Maybe they also know of some private instructors who could really do with the income)

That's illogical though from a covid-19 protection perspective? Any passenger outside the driver's support bubble or household carries the same theoretical increase in risk of virus transmission. Surely the rules should either allow passengers with masks or not, regardless of their instructor status?

They have to hold a ARDS licence ,produce it at sign on and the track given 48 hours notice so not anyone can rock up and try it.

Not sure how the guy on the pit lane will know who's who though Image

Looking forward to being on track, listening to my indicator as all you lot with the fancy track tires zoom zoom past. Fingers crossed the brakes will help me catch up a bit....

Ranjan,

One day I want to get a few laps in with you giving me some pointers. I got too excited at Mallory last year to get you in the passenger seat and you can't make it this time. But soon one day you'll get to mock my concentrating habbit of sticking my tonge out while shouting why are you braking this early!

Will it be worth us less experienced guys trying to up at the front of the sighting laps so we can watch the instructors line and braking?

I remember being 20 cars deep last year and not really being able to see what they were doing so it was more of a parade lap.

If you can get close to the course car on the sighting laps then it helps.
I have been behind mid pack before and it was pretty hopeless trying to follow the line as it was all over the place by the time I got there.
Still helps familiarise yourself with the track anyway.

Great drive here through the countryside making the most of the sunshine. Andy's first drive of a rotary and learning to rev the thing. Bit different from his diesel.
