Castle Combe Charity Track Day - Wednesday 19th August

Post by shroom »

Hi all,

Has anyone ever taken part in the CCRC charity track day? Spoke to someone from Combe on the phone and implied it was a similar format to their normal track days.

However this seems a reasonable price at £150 in August.

They do also have another normal track day on the 28th August at £175

Anyone going to Combe then?

I’d ask how many are attending first
We are booked on 26th , I’ve since found out from them that it’s 20’cars on Circuit and 80 booked in for the day , it will be chaos

80 is ridiculous , 60 is normally full
I’m going to see how the next two weeks go that they are holding and go from there .
Just imagine , if there 20 on circuit , there’s at least another 20-30 waiting

Hi Tom,
A friend of mine will be there so I will come down with him as this is my local track.
No problem with the charity track day it’s just the proceeds go to a good cause and is still open pit lane.
All circuits have noise limits per year which determines the amount of noisy days they can have.
This determines the amount of cars on track at the same time and explains 12 or 20.
There’s no problem with 20 as we start races with 32 or 34 at Combe.
Combe have had the figures of 80 max 20 on track for many years now and there is very rarely any problems.
If a large queue does appear they can put the chequered flag out and release a new 20 on track.
Anyone else coming ?
Pete

Better of booking with slip n grip, motorsportevents or any of the others rather than combe themselves...as these limit to 60 cars attending...Ive had enough of boiling up my car queing down to the strawford centre and happily pay an extra £50 for 60 attending 12 on track. Versus the 80/20 combe own format. People have queued for so long that they stay out long too. And nigh on impossible to get clear laps with 20 on track. As much as i like overtaking i much prefer trying to get my laptime down with a clear track. Shame i just dont book with Combe anymore...if you were allowed to overtake in corners would be fine but your not so you just end up in queueing on and off track. ive told Combe officials this several times to no avail.
