Mazdafest 2020 Kirkistown - 23rd August

Post by warpc0il » Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:07 pm

I mentioned at the AGM about the successes of Mazdafest 2017 and 2018, the lack of 2019 (due to Brexit fears) and the hopes for 2020.

Well we've just got home and word is that Mazdafest 2020 is on 23rd August and the venue is confirmed as Kirkistown

This event is run by Irish Rotary with the Irish MX5 OC, which means that (nearly) all the cars will be RX-8s, RX-7s and MX-5s.

Other details are still being clarified though we have already offered our home (19 miles from the track) as overnight accommodation for those with a long journey. The rooms in the house and being booked fast, but there's lots of space for indoor camping, sofa surfing or camping out on the lawns.

There will be the usual BBQs in the evenings, Saturday for the main group and Sunday for those that can get the Monday off.

The primary communication for the event are on the Irish Rotary FB group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/irishrotary , which you're welcome to join, though I will also be updating key details here.

Having just returned from 3 Sisters and the AGM, we can confirm that the costs and logistics of getting cars and people across the Irish Sea aren't trivial.

However, we can also confirm that Kirkistown is a great circuit, the team that runs these events has the perfect balance between efficiency and flexibility. It's a good crowd and great craic.

Hopefully we'll have the workshop, with 2-post lift, all working before that weekend and I might even get my PZ suspension fitted in time

It's the weekend before bank holiday weekend, though the layout of our calender had caused some confusion there.
