Beginners' Track Day

Post by willberry70 » Sat Jan 11, 2020 11:36 pm

Hi Guys and Gals,
A few things to ask.

I'm planning on going to Bedford Aerodrome for a beginners track day on Monday 9th March.

I'm wondering the following:
  • Am I going to have any trouble with the noise restrictions with my stock exhaust? I find it hard to believe I would but their limits are STATIC 101 dB(A) and DRIVE BY 87 dB(A).
  • Is there any point in trying to find a single day of track day insurance from a separate insurer or am I better off contacting my regular insurer?
  • If anyone wants to join me in their car, you are of course welcome to.
All help appreciated.

Cheers,
Will.

He's wondering if he will be fine with the noise tests. (Elaboration on exhaust setup being used would be a good idea) And the best option to take with getting trackday insurance I believe.

Those noise levels will be fine if you have a stock exhaust.

Yup, like I say, it's stock and certainly doesn't sound loud to me 🙂

Static test on my stock R3 in Dec 2018 at Bedford was 73dB from memory. Should be okay on that front.

Best quote from Reis, Moris and A-Plan (from MSV ticket link) was Reis at £77.
I'll have to see how they compare for annual insurance when the time comes.
