It's going to depend on what Tier it's assigned, Swale in Kent currently has the highest number of infections in England so if they do blanket county wide restrictions then it may be Tier 3

However outdoor pursuits may well go ahead as the emphasis is on indoor entertainment etc. So fingers crossed as this will be subject to MSV's/MoT's interpretation of the rules.

So, does Tier 3 mean the event is definitely cancelled, it's certainly far from clear!

"People are advised not to travel to and from Tier 3 areas". That makes general sense, but if one travels directly the Brands Hatch and back, without getting out of their cars en-route in Kent, the risk appears to be low?

I guess it will depend very much on what MSV decide to do, they may take the decision to close, as they are defined as being in Tier 3. However, hairdressers and gyms can operate in Tier 3 (if covid sececure), so it's not clear cut. As Ray says, the focus seems to be on reducing social interaction in indoor space, so maybe the event will proceed?

MSV Trackdays have announced on Facebook that all of their days will be going ahead. I'll assume that means that this one will be happening.

Based on the following cut and pasted official COVID advice then from a Tier 2 I can travel through a Tier 3 zone but not actually stop in one.
if you live in a tier 2 area, you must continue to follow tier 2 rules when you travel to a tier 1 area. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through a tier 3 area as a part of a longer journey
The crucial word to me is “through” meaning I cannot stop at Brands Hatch and certainly not stay at the Mercure the night before if it’s not work related.

if the event runs, its legal to go. it wont be allowed to run if not. and they have already stated that they have no intention of cancelling unless they have to, and the subtext reads to me like they have no intention of issuing refunds, either....

The issue is not whether the event runs or not but that travelling through a lower Tier zone is mentioned, but not stopping in one, therefore on that basis “through” means not stopping, other than for calls of nature I presume!

Whether you are legally entitled to attend the event is a different question ( fact )
Given the time scale and situation perhaps the club should be making a decision (events team ) ?

The Events Team doesn't need to make a decision regarding this trackday Pete , as it's up to the individual if they want to go from one Tier to the other Tier
