My bet is on an oil burp.

Sounds identical to what happened to me with Ranjan's (now Chris's) car at Three Sisters.

That was a massive oil burb, even with a catch can, that we still haven't managed to pin down the cause.

So that didn’t go to plan ?

Sighting laps went well and bedded in the new brakes with Tom behind the wheel.
Then Tom went straight back out.
First two laps and all well then just as he changed down to third @ quarry, big loss of power and a huge plume of smoke streaming out the exhaust but kept it running in second gear.
So rather than delaying the session waiting for a recovery we made it back to the paddock on a red flag
So put car back on trailer and departed with our tails between our legs.

Little bit of an update to this dilemma.
So checked the intake this morning and all’s well no oil in the accordion pipe. Oil level on 3/4 as it previously was.
Started up within 2 seconds with smoke bellowing from the exhaust. Let it idle to get up to temp then gradually gave it some Revs.
Grey smoke changed to white when the Revs were lifted to 6k but then it started to get bogged down. And the same when repeated.
After the 3rd time it bogged down and overheated throwing coolant out the expansion tank.

What do you think guys.

Hmm! Could be coolant seals due to overheating from a failed water pump, collapsing hose, jammed thermostat, fans not cutting in etc;

Engine was running sweet before it was removed from the donor car.
Fans are cutting in correctly

Those of you who cover your plates up with tape, what is the tape called

I will need to cover up the plates on the Tesla when I drive Llandow in August

Just be careful as you don't want something that will leave loads of sticky marks or half the tape back on it

Why do you want to cover your plates up?
Your plates have already been seen on here and you have publicised that you are taking it on a trackday (with trackday insurance) so not sure what you are trying to hide?
If you are worried about cloning then driving on public roads gives you far greater exposure to miscreants than on track.
If you don’t want people/insurance/Tesla warranty knowing you are on track with your car then don’t leave an internet breadcrumb trail. With the exposure you have already given your car it is pretty much bolting the door after the horse has gone or whatever the saying is. If someone wanted to id you all they need to do is search Tesla and trackday and it will lead them right here.
I take my plates off but there is no trail anywhere of any of my cars on forums that can identify the cars I take on track with me.

Why do you feel the need to hide the identity of the cars you take on track and why are you on any forum if you are not posting about the great cars you drive. I do find it odd you don’t post any photos, even of the cars you own.

I had a really bad warranty experience once that makes me very nervous about tracking a car that can be easily identified. It all got sorted in the end but caused a load of grief and hassle. Removing plates does not totally prevent id but does help. Modern telemetry logging also leaves a trail.
Still don’t get why the Tesla owner wants to cover his plates when already known info?
I do share photos of cars mainly road only on other make specific forums and may well do here once I have been around a bit and if peeps are interested?
