Re: Track day
I can’t do spa this year as I am to busy at work, the joys of self employment.
Working all the time really pees me off I thought life was surposed to get easier as you get older.
I am going to book early for next so I have to go.

Re: Track day
You're lucky to have two good tracks so close to you! Please do post up how you get on Mark and what you think of the track. I'm thinking of a track day at a 'local' style circuit in France next summer. Hire a farmhouse or somewhere with a pool for the day before/after, that sort of thing. Val de Vienne looks like my favourite so far based on videos online.Markl17 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 5:25 pmHi I have booked another track day today for the 14th September track looks good and is 3.8km long so should be able to stretch it’s legs it might makeup a little bit for missing spa.need to get the bucket seat and harness back in the car.

Any other tracks over there that you've already done you'd recommend?

Re: Track day
Hi new duke.
I will certainly let you know how it goes. Also the Vienne is a nice region for a holiday plenty or rural holiday lets with pools and stuff to do. As for other circuits there is the Bugatti circuit at Le Mann there are one or two smaller ones but are more like go-cart tracks. I am using local track day provider called Speed Monster but they haven’t posted next years dates. If you decide to do this I will certainly come and join you. The only thing with French track days is you must have track insurance but this can all be done on line very simply.
If you decide to do this let me know and I will help where ever I can.

Re: Track day
Hi
Here is my write up from my track day yesterday at circuit Val de Vienne.
I think this is the first time that this track has had a write up on here.
So I will start with the facilities
The track is quite modern, there is lots of tarmac car parking, purpose built on site cafe, plenty of loos and wash facilities all modern. The pit garages are well laid out. Pit lane is quite wide.
Track.
The track is 3.8 km long with a long ish start finish straight and long flat out straight with a kink in it.
I found the track quite difficult to master as 2 or 3 of the corners were late apex and you needed to brake all the way into the apex. Also the twisty stuff was quite a challenge as I spent the morning attacking it too hard. In the afternoon I got it a lot better by going in a gear less and hitting the apexes better.
I think it’s a circuit you will need 2 or 3 days at to get right.
I enjoyed the day open pit an hour for lunch and only 2 red lags in the day. The over taking was a bit of an eye opener as they came at you from all angles. So it wasn’t the same driving standards as in England. I did my last run at 3.30 in the afternoon as it was 33 degrees air temperature & about 45 degrees in the car, as I have no air conditioning. After 5 laps the sweat was running into my eyes. So maybe not the best place to do a track day in the middle of summer or make sure your ac works.
All in all the event was well organized and Bruno from Speed Monsters was a nice guy. I am out again in October at the circuit haute santonge so hopefully it will be a bit cooler. Car was great, track was great, I was a bit rubbish.

Re: Track day
Hello.
It’s two weeks until my next track day another new circuit for me but looking on the internet I think it will be a little easier to learn than the last one.it s also Japanese only and car show so should be a fun day,it is open pit lane so should be plenty of laps.
I think I am also going to go back to the circuit Val de vienne in November as I think I can drive it a lot better.
Oh no I think this might be the start of the addiction!

Re: Track day
You just have to select the track, which it should auto detect, based on your location, then set it running, which you can do in your garage before going out on the track. Once you pass the S/F line it will log laps automatically. Works well in my car with phone in arm rest cubby hole. Out of the box it works well, very easy to use. It has one or two traps set around the track for inter times, which you can play with (the trap positions) and adjust if you wish. The recorded data also shows speeds around the track.
