Personally, and based on the conversations with the IROC guys, I think that Mondello Park is over-rated and over-priced.

That's why the IROC used Kirkistown rather than Mondello for their 2017 50th Anniversary meet, despite being subsidised by Mazda Ireland and Kirkstown being in NI not ROI. They also chose Kirkistown last year, even without the financial support of Mazda.IE.

Great day at Blyton yesterday.
Mates RX8 went well, saw another RX8 R3 there going well and popping flames from his exhaust. D***POJ not sure if hes a member on here?
An Integra had a roll and looks rather worse for wear. Both driver and passenger emerged ok though thankfully.
I had pad wear and flames from the front brakes so my day was cut short mid afternoon but weather was great apart from some light rain for an hour over lunch period.
All in all was fantastic and looking forward to the next one.

I thought I recognised that car! I was also at Pembrey in my Sunlight Silver. I meant to come over and say hi, but time got away from me and didn't get round to it.

Even stock, the 8 excels on track and did a great job of embarrassing much more expensive metal. The instructor who went out with me recons they're a bit of an unsung hero handling wise, not something I'd argue with ;)

Likewise buddy , after the first session I went to change the wheels over . Undone the nuts and a heard a rather loud crack Image( that’s the second set of black diamond , never again for drilled discs ) thats what I found , so after a few FaceTimes with the Mrs she found a spare set and a friend of mine popped them down , so I had my head up my arse until lunchtime , saying that , the amount of downtime in the morning through oil spillages I don’t think I missed too much . So after lunch I used 90 / 100 litres of fuel lol . Which was pretty much , out for a while , in for a drink and cigarette then back out again . And as you say , many are shocked with the ability of the car , which mine is only 150 whp . I did think I’d blown the engine when I came back in last going off , struggling to rev , making an awful noise so it went straight on the trailer , definitely the fastest it’s ever been driven up them ramps before . Ha ha .
Checked the fuel as I thought it might have been a shortage but it was showing nearly half tank . By the time I got home zero in there . It must be frothing up . Lesson learned ........
I will come say hello next time ,
What did you think of pembrey circuit ?

Oof, that's quite something! Good work on getting it sorted on the day. If it's any consolation, my mate with the MX-5 chewed right through his pads and had to get the AA to recover him home

Yeah red flags were frustrating, they completely screwed up the instructors' schedules so I spent a fair amount of time trying to re-arrange my tuition slot. The mistake I made on the day was not heading out at lunch for more fuel. I had a similar problem to you; when out with the instructor the car started cutting out so we pulled in with the fuel gauge reading 1/4 left. When I turned it on again after having swapped what was left of the front pads, the needle didn't move off the bottom. Sadly I only managed one session after lunch because of it.

I don't have a huge amount of on-track experience, having said that I really enjoyed Pembrey. I was at Castle Combe the day before for the Forge action day; I don't know if it's the car or my driving style, but Pembrey suited me much more. For some reason, it seemed to bring out the oversteer in the chassis, compared to Combe where I felt I was always fighting understeer. I was having way too much fun chucking her through the hairpins on the brakes  It looks like you've got a fair bit more track experience, what were your thoughts?

I've been meaning to attend one of the south Wales monthly meet ups, but they're always on weekends I'm busy! Hopefully if one works out we can properly introduce ourselves :)

Hi firium,

Is the Allsorts meet at Cam near Dursley too far for you? The meet is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month and the next one is this Thursday coming. Search for Allsorts to find the thread.

Funny you should say that , I too suffer from a bit of understeer around castle Combe . It is generally a much faster circuit tho
