My thanks to everyone who came along yesterday and made it so thoroughly enjoyable on track and in the paddock =D>

For me, after a rain soaked day at Snetterton (Feb) and then scorcher at Snetterton (July), it was great to have a "middle ground" dry and warm day, perfect for standing around without getting burned or soaked :D No car overheating issues too - max coolant temp was 110 degrees, mostly 105-108, perfect. I was happy with a 57.94 lap (Racechrono, after the session) as there was, as Alan pointed out, a lot of traffic on circuit. It seemed Mallory aren't too bothered with the number of cars on track, unlike MSV circuits, as I saw no holding in the pitlane awaiting a car to come in.

Great that Ian and Nick came along to socialise, chat and help out. Even though they didn't take their own cars on track they had plenty of driving and passenger options. Special thanks to Nick and Nigel for helping me to locate my phone, which, in it's case, survived the sighting laps sitting in the passenger scuttle area outside alongside the windscreen wiper - what plonker put it there whilst affixing the track sticker and forgot about it

Great to see Ranjan back with an RX-8 =D> and thanks for your comments from my passenger seat (yes, I know, I really do need to learn heel and toe - I can double-declutch though  )

Well done to the foreigners bringing their trailers all the way over from Wales for this one ;)

Nice to Pete and Paula again - it's been a while as I couldn't make the AGM this year.

Thanks Nigel for continuing to pack in the trackdays and bringing some much needed supplies too :thumleft:

Nice to chat to Peter (xamtex) for the first time and help with his refueling :D

Matt, Alan, John - great to see all you guys again and sorry I didn't see you much during the day, but I'd be very interested to know what times you were clocking with those full slicks!

Chris, please don't sort your suspension out, else I won't be able to keep up with you ;)

Alan, some great driving and lap times. I was following you on one occasion and you were flying :thumleft:

Ricky, well it wouldn't be such a fun day without Ricky along, would it (and his friend from Venice on this occasion) ;)

Dave, great to see you again as it's been a while, your car was looking great.

I just love these days when we can all park up together, have some banter and enjoy some track time, long may it continue! I'll hopefully be seeing some of you again at Oulton Park in November.

I'll try and paste up a quick edit of on track footage of other Club Members' cars shortly.

Great day both on track and in the paddock. Session with Ranjan cut short by a Red Flag but still time him to give me a few tips.
I think I have the hairpin sorted be was please with my 59.13 lap until I spoke to Alan and Malcolm who both had times on the 57s grrrr! Not that any of us were timing our laps!!
First track day since fitting the SOHN and I was amazed that I got through 1tr of 2 stroke today.
Well you would do wouldn't you? If you think about it, you wouldn't have thought twice about adding a litre of oil to the sump over the course of a track day before, and now you're feeding that directly with 2T it just makes the oil you're using more obvious :thumleft:

Any difference in the feel of the engine before and after Sohn fitting?

Pity I couldn't make this day, Mallory Park was the first circuit I ever drove and I remember it being good fun. Looks like you guys were doing a slightly different circuit layout to the one I did, there's a chicane at the exit of Gerard's on the right that we used, it slowed things down a bit but made for a slightly different lap experience. Definitely one to book up next year :)
The strange thing is Sam prior to fitting the SOHN my engine oil level only ever moved slightly even on track days.

Before days of Legally-not-a-Sohn I recall having to balls a load of oil in on track days still.

This may have something to do with why I couldn't kill my original engine but yours was, well, worse for wear ;)

Typically I have to top up a quarter of a litre every second session, so a litre in a day is easy enough for me too. Your old engine appears to have not been working correctly ;)
To Do List: HKS CAMP2 install; cruise control; new exhaust; detail paintwork, possible respray

Done: Hayward Rotary rebuild and stage 2 port; Racing Beat ARBs, adjustable front droplinks, ram air intake and lightened flywheel; Exedy stage 1 clutch; Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs; Koyo radiator; heated front screen; EBC redstuff pads all round

What is even more strange though is that its the OMP and oil injectors etc from the old engine.

Seems like its now normal to use that amount of oil.

Quick "collage" of clips, mostly where other club member's cars can be seen.

I had a good session chasing the two white Integras, plus chasing a yellow Caterham and supercharged Elise (at 8m38s). Haven't checked back, but some of the driving is down to Ian.M, not only me.

I haven't checked the sound track, so excuse any language or comments made in the heat if the moment ;)

Not much else to add to the comments already, but just to say had a great day out again with the club. I really enjoyed the fact that there was no queues to get out on track, loved Gerard’s, but need to push a bit more to get a higher speed while cornering, As chatting to Malcolm he was 10mph faster  and Pete was probably a bit faster again :D :D

I use average 1,5 to 2 litres of 2 stroke oil through the sohn on a full track day . I only used 3/4 in Mallory
I haven’t topped the oil up in 3 years ( yes I have changed it ) it doesn’t burn a drop

Here's my video of the day, 56.53 lap time. I don't think i got the hairpin right all day, and there was more to come from Gerard's if i had bigger stones.

Allan's lap

One of the RX8's flash of flames, everyone loves flames so whilst its on camera i thought i'd share it.

Thanks
Matt

Good going matt , I’m sure I was sat in that lap with you ,I’d like to think that my fat arse gave you a bit more speed down the straight and good ballast around Gerard’s
I too think I should have been quicker around there but never got the chance to improve
