As you may have read, we are planning on doing a regular Car Of The Month feature for every month through 2022 (and potentially beyond!). This is where all you lovely people can post up your cars for consideration! As with all things...
On my way to a kart race at whilton mill in Northampton and the car felt off. Struggled to hold idle and the throttle kept going up and down, even at speed. My fuel consumption was terrible. 60 miles was almost up to half a tank. When I got here I saw these codes. P0172 / P0335 / P2097 and MAF was...
Help please. The immobiliser system on my 2004 192 Rx8 is Heat Sensitive! I have to warm up the ECU , either by repeatedly holding the ignition on for 1 minute at a time(perhaps 10x when really cold) or by heating the ECU externally! Nobody in the car auto business is keen to help except new ECU ,...
Hello
I am having a problem with the track day car,the battery has been disconnected for about 8 months and the battery in the Key was dead so I put a new one in.when I try to start the car the immobilizer light flashes quickly and fuel pump does not prime
What have I missed?
Thanks mark
The story is that my 8 is not working since December last year, I'm suspecting that engine is low compression, it is not keeping a steady idle RPMs, air intake is blowing away somewhere, soon as I'm trying to even drive a bit on parking lot it...
Any lighting experts does anyone know do HID bulbs change with time, I went out earlier in the RX-8 in the dark and I noticed although dipped beams seem OK the focal point of the H9 main beams seem to be low down on the road in front of the car although the road ahead is well lit and the RX8 was...
I have a 192hp RX8. First engine lasted about 60k kms. Bought a brand new engine which is now at 20k km, premixed from the beginning. Tracked the car with this new engine so it's not long for this world. Last time I measured compression it was down from ~9 bar to ~6 bar, but power...
Hello all,
So today I went had the car booked with Rob at KROWN, and after is initial check he found the rear left outer sill needs repairing and probably worth doing the right hand side at the same time (see pics below)
Otherwise he said the good news is the inner seals are solid and the rest of...
I've ordered the parts to replace the inner and outer tierods on my RX8 after the shop that did the alignment pointed out both out rods were leaking and the locking nuts being seized on the inner rods.
So, on to autodoc and I ordered the parts. They are all Febi so no unknown brand.
Would humbly like to request help diagnosing an intermittent no-crank-no-start.
For context, the car typically starts and runs a dream - I have owned it nearly 3 years and this is the first time I've ever had trouble - but then I have been relatively pro-active following forum advice to...
Hi guys.
A group member who knows me and my car has sent me this.
Somebody has copied pictures of my FD and has advertised on Facebook which is obviously a massive scam.
It would be a big help for potential buyers if you could report this sucker so nobody will fell in this trap.
Thanks as always...
It’s getting to the point where my front wings (or fenders ;) ) are needing to be replaced, as they’re effectively rotten beyond repair.
I know SG Petch sell genuine Mazda wings, but I’ve seen cheaper, aftermarket ones floating around and I wondered what experiences people have had with those....
For me at least, today marks the end of my season. The SORN is In affect and winter preps begin. Unfortunately I've ran out of time this weekend to fully detail the outside, but next weekend will involve pulling it back out for further winter storage prep.
So then chaps being as my rexi has 144,000 on it and is nearly 20 years old I suspect it may be in need of some bushes
what do folks find needs changing ?
I should say the car drives well, no bumps , rattles or squirrely handling and no discernible play when tweaking joints with a pry bar
Not sure this deserved its own thread but couldn't think where to put it otherwise. As soon as I read this I thought of rx8 'hot start' issues and how this could have easily been an rx8 at a petrol station instead of a Pontiac....
Hi all was looking to upgrade standard cat back system on my R3 with a budget of around £600...have looked at a few on eBay but unsure of fitting as very few list R3 fitment as hangers are different..any suggestions? As unsure which to go for really :-k
After a few weeks of searching, I am coming up negative at finding a suitable 2003-2005 231. Thus far I have found one which I would have bought if someone had not pipped me to the post.
The rest I’ve seen have either had questionable chassis, shot engine (some times both) or a...
Especially with the winter coming i am washing the car more than often, usually once a week.
The problem i've got is that every few months and with every wash the headlights are going back to being faded/yellow on top.
It sorts itself out after a fine 1500 wet grit and good 3M polish but only lasts...
This time 10 years ago I got on a plane to Southampton and a train to Christchurch to pick up a one owner 07 ,rx8 for 2500 pounds and it was mint with full history.
I got in and drove it back home to the south west of France,it never missed a beat,it was the family hack for 3years baby seat...
Bit of a quandary, do I sell my car as parts or as a whole.
Engine rebuilt by me 3 years ago, compression around the 5s now.
2007 PZ 50k ish on the clock
Bodywork ok, no dents but roof needs a respray
Ryan Upgraded coils mk3 fitted
Racing Beat manifold, cat (low mileage on cat, 500 miles approx)...
After chatting with a mate about what it means to be defined as a Hybrid - which he concluded was either multiple power sources or multiple fuels - I decided to buy one of these and stick it on the back of the 8.
It does, after all, run on both petrol and oil... #-o
My neighbour's just informed me that someone was scoping out my car yesterday evening. Sat for around ten minutes, trying out zappers and taking a more than healthy interest.
The battery's sitting in my house. I don't have the luxury of a garage, so the car has to sit in my publically accessible...
I bought Apec discs and pads in the last week from Opie Oils, for the rear of a Nissan Juke, not the RX8. I couldn't see much on the forum about Apec, hence share this as they are available for the RX8.
The disc quality appeared very good. They come with a black coating on the areas not in contact...
I'm currently refurbishing the rear spindles/hubs on my RX8. I want to replace the studs and wheel bolts. Afterwards, the car will be fitted with oem R3 wheels.
The replacement studs I found for my car (non-oem) have a total lenght of 48, which is 3mm longer compared to stock (total...
Just intrigued if anyone has any links to a place that stock parts for Racing Brake BBK, I.e replacement pads and discs. I'm of the understanding the company is no longer in existence. Just wandered if there was any redundancy for those with the kits installed.
I'm working on connecting the RX8 chassis wiring to the EMU Black ECU and I'd like some help on where the wires should go. Based on the Tuned by Shawn jumper cable and the factory wiring diagrams, I know that plugs 4 - 5 are the main two plugs on the factory ECU that I need to look at...
Hello boys and girls.
I have in mind for the winter to remove the seats and send them somewhere to have them re-trimmed in the Spirit R way.
Massive question is where?
I mean,we have our upholstery guy which does all our retail cars,he has done the sides on the R3 for me which look good but i would...
PXL_20230826_103236625.PORTRAIT.ORIGINAL.jpg Just want to say a big thank you to Nic from Enjoyable Cars for my R3 which I recently purchased from him very great service and very helpful.. very many thanks and highly recommended 👍
Hey all, hope you're all doing well and making the most of this rather drab summer we've had so far.
So as some of you might've seen from my introduction post, I have been a long time lurker of the forum, looking at build threads and classifieds for a while before finally making my account. I am...
First and foremost, yes, i've read as many other threads and as much as I can about aftermarket cats on here. But I do find trying to search for cat or catalytic on here heavily poluted with cat-back, decat etc. etc. so it's very hard to fish out information :D
When I first fire it up it sounds very rough. After letting it idle for a bit, there's a faint whine that changes pitch and then suddenly it's ok. It doesn't do it on a hot start. Something air pump or choke related?
Dug out my Bluetooth OBD2 reader today and plugged it into the RX8.
Was able to connect with various Phone apps no problem, however everytime I have the OBD2 reader plugged in the Traction control light on the dash is showing and wont disapear until the ignition is restarted with the OBD2 reader...
After a 2 week holiday I went to start my car and it was completely dead. No interior lights or dash light, nothing (it usually goes a couple of weeks without being driven no problem).
Assuming it was a flat battery I plugged it in to charge (whilst still in the car), but the trickle...
I'm looking to replace the brakes on my R3 but I know absolutely nothing...
I'd like to replace all four brakes, nothing too fancy but I don't know how much I should expect to spend or even which brands to buy from.
Any recommendations?
About 4 years ago i cut the bottom off the arch liners where they meet the rear cills. Whilst bleeding the rear brakes today, i removed what was left of the liner to inspect the metal beneath it. I am pleased to say that the metal that has been exposed for the last 4 years is every bit as good now...
Absolute long shot, but don't suppose any body on here has the paper pattern set from the mazdaspeed side skirt install accessories? Or have any useful installation experience/tips for me?
They are finally painted apparently and now he's trying to be shy about fitting them. I gave him the...
