So, consider this us letting the cat out of the bag!
Let me set the scene... A few months back, in the committee area of the forum was a post - one that simply said 55th Anniversary Event? (those of you who have read the most recent committee meeting minutes may have...
As you may have read, we are planning on doing a regular Car Of The Month feature for every month through 2022 (and potentially beyond!). This is where all you lovely people can post up your cars for consideration! As with all things...
As you will no doubt be aware, your committee has been working tirelessly in the background getting some glorious things tee'd up and planned for 2022. The events team has a fantastic thread which has been set up ( to detail all of the events and potential plans for...
This forum is just a part of the RX-8 Owners Club; to get the best out of the Club you should really look at joining up!
Here are some of the benefits of being a Club member:

i had a look around and could not find anything like this...
i have seen sim kind of threads on other car forums i have been a member of,
it makes for intresting reading once going to see what people have done each day.
so i thought i would start this thread to see what people have done to there...
Again on the insurance side of things. I'm only a couple of years older than you at 27, and I think I'm looking at 800 - 900. I'd recommend trying for quotes on confused.com and elephant.co.uk . Elephant is Admiral, and Admiral was the cheapest for me on confused, but seems to have gone from there...
OK maybe time to start some sort of record for the special editions so to start lets see what sort of list we can build so please add your details: then the usual copy and paste.
IF KNOWN INCLUDE THE BUILD NUMBER.
I've seen a lot of chat on here about the cars people owned in the past and others they own now. As a relatively young driver i think i've had more than my fair share of cars and recently i seem to follow a pattern in buying- practical to sporty to practical and so on.....
As many members help one another I thought it would be nice to have a post where you can say thankyou to each other. I have been in many car clubs and can honestly say this forum is the most informative and friendly one I have come across. :thumleft: so firstly thanks to everyone who I...
As some of you are aware, I've been in communication with Scorpion-Redpower regarding the potential of having a production re-run of the exhaust system they produced in 2006 for the PZ models.
This would enable PZ owners to restore their exhaust system to their original specification and may also...
Based on the opinions of a couple of other owners regarding the quality of the gear change in their own cars I decided to change the oil in my own gearbox to a full synthetic.
I have used Mobilube SHC 75w90 synthetic gear oil as it is available locally in a trade motor factors that I use.
After reading this in another thread I thought I would just post to say that all is going well with my RX.

Overslept after long weekend out and so the roads were clear on my hasty drive into work, a weekend of not driving made it seem even more lively.
Well, I finally did it and wasn't even trying!!
Nice long trip from Leeds to Chichester, mostly cruising at 85 but still having fun at every roundabout I came across!
Original 300 mile thread seems to have dropped off so started another
Mod bit - title edited, this thread predates the R3 by a...
Today I drove 452 miles in a diesel Fiesta from Northampton to Newcastle & back & saw a total of 0 RX8's. I also drive to various other store locations for the company I work for and never see more than 2.
Having got the idea off Seanp,I was wondering if people could post up if they're willing to help out fellow owners with fault codes, what area you could cover and/or how far your willing to travel etc, what beverage you'd want on arrival, preference of biscuits and so on&so forth.
As a community we have been talking forever about fake ignition coils but these days they’re far from the only fake parts being offered for your car.
“Fake” coils include replicas of the Mazda OEM coils sold in convincing branded boxes, having been produced in a factory in China and sold wholesale...
I'm looking for volunteers to write some content for social media/ blogs/ newsletters in the future (no, not a magazine!) - if you have a recent modification you've enjoyed, a quirky story around the RX-8, an event you've been to, a track day you've...
WARNING: This post is long, really long, and doesn’t even have any pictures.
I've been active on this forum for ten years now and this is all based on my personal experience owning and working on RX8s, talking to owners, information gleaned and distilled from forum posts and PMs, working for Ford...
The attached spreadsheet shows the total number of UK RX-8s registered and SORNed, broken down by model and year.
RX-8_UK_Numbers.xlsx
The headlines are:
- 24,730 individual cars have been registered between 2003 and 2018
- 13,289 still exist
- 8,092 are still on the road
- 11,440 are missing,...
Please use this thread is if you wish me to follow up any issues/queries you may have, regarding your 8. However, your first point of call should be your dealer. Alternatively, PM me and I will be happy to help.
I have spent time this morning talking to my service manager today. I can now list the...
Took my 8 in for its second service this week at Romford Mazda . A gentleman call Chris called me over to his desk and said, we have done the service, but we have found some problems. My heart sank. Just a few problems he said.
O/s/f anti rollbar lower link broken, os engine mount riding low(did...
You are allowed to vote up to three times for those that have had more than one rebuild but can you post in the thread if you've had more than one with the reason.
E.G. In my case it was Romford Mazda cocked the first one up royally.
If you haven't had a rebuild can you please post your current...
Over the last couple of days I've had the lock actuator in and out of the car as I'd replaced the motor in it but hadn't glued the unit shut, which caused it to open slightly and stop working via central locking.
I've since sorted that part out, but in the mean time I've managed to get it into a...
The drivers side rear door window doesn't shut flush on my rx8, it closes about a cm low in the corner. Was hoping someone here might have the knowledge and able to explain or show me how to adjust the fitment if it is possible to DIY it, as I'm paranoid one day rain will start to get in.
Ever since installing my aftermarket headunit, I always get a high pitched whine from the speakers right after turning the car on.
This will persist for a few minutes or so until it suddenly goes away. However sometimes I will hear it while driving too.
I've replaced the interior lamps with Osram 5W led replacements, but they flicker rather than dim after a delay when the car is locked. Has anyone noticed this and did you resolve the issue? I suspect adding a shunt resistor to increase the current draw might help, but thought I'd ask here before...
Got new discs and pads. Mintex pads and MTEC black grooved discs. I bought a new set of anti rattle clips from Biggred, seems like a reputable supplier, but as seen in the images, they dont fit over the disc?
Anyone had this issue before? are they the correct clips?
When the battery housing was removed today I noticed that the brace or strut located below, is quite heavily corroded. Is this cross member
attached to the car's structure with fixings or is it an integral part of the shell? I'd be interested to know if anyone has experience of a similar...
Hey, due to some horribly botched job (not me obviously  ) I need an oil cooler. Would this fit a series 1 RX8? If anyone has any experience or recommendations for aftermarket oil coolers it'd be very welcome, preferably in the £200-300 range. Thanks
Does anyone know if the stationary clutch bearing that comes in the exedy clutch kit sold by Racing Beat Europe is plastic or metal? Looking to buy a clutch + bearing and want to make sure I get the metal one.
Sent them an email but looking to put an order through asap and since its Sunday and...
Armed with the correct paint code for my velocity red S1, is it possible to get a touch up paint pen from somewhere, so that i can address a few really minor chips and nics that have occured during use? Cheers.
I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times before, happy for someone to link me to a thread, I had a quick search and couldn't see an obvious one in the results returned.
Pads are getting low, and discs are fairly worn. Think it is just Pagid stuff on there at the moment.
I've got a full set of replacement brake disc shields on the way, as the originals have rusted and crumbled off, and will have them fitted as and when wheel bearings need doing - rear first as they're already up, fronts sometime in the future.
I'm wanting to give this set a fighting chance of...
Just a heads up for those experiencing oil burping without a possible valid reason, well we had a customer in recently with this very issue, it turned out to be Racing Beat Oil Regulator. Once this was swapped out with an OEM all is well and he has yet to experience another burp.
New member here, made an account on gathering some information I need as I am currently stuck. My dad owns an rx8 231. I have recently rebuilt my brakes in my Mazda MX5 thus he's asked me to rebuild his as he wanted them sprayed and renewed.
I'm currently in the process of replacing the front and rear stationary bearings of my beloved 13B, after I put it all together I was measuring endplay of the rotating assembly which was 0,19mm which is definitely too much. Now it doesn't really make sense to me how the endplay would change...
Newbie here, but I I recently have had some misfiring on my PZ, I do have new ignition coils and leads, it started about the time the E10 petrol was introduced.
I do still use E5 petrol but I’m wondering if maybe the E5 has changed a little to cause the misfiring. After the new coils and leads the...
So my ridiculously low mileage 2006 S1 has been very well kept during it's life, fair play to the previous owner, but im wondering whether changing all the fluids is necessary or just overkill at this point. Yes the car is 16 years old now, it's virtually stock, its only done 12K miles and ive had...
Does anyone here buy spark plugs from ECP, set of 4 with 8s was £72 so quite abit cheaper than the rest
Went to pick up and one of the boxes was different to the others and the print on porcelain was also different so decided to leave it, how likely is it that the plugs would be fake ?
So I noticed I had a coolant leak and getting under the car today after removing the ridiculous under tray 🙈 I found it’s coming from a pipe, they don’t look great, ballooning and rusted clips so I thought I may as well go for silicone and some nice stainless clamps 💪 so what make have you got and...
Hey guys, so I bought my 2nd 8 around 2 years ago with a poor starting problem. It was sold as low compression but untested.
The issue I have is that when I try to start hot (rebuild is coming this year, but for now I would like to get it sorted) it will crank perfectly fine for around 3 seconds,...
Completely new here so let me know if I'm in the wrong place! (Please!)
I bought my RX8 two weeks back and I knew it was going to be a project so I wasn't TOO bothered by compression tests etc. Was happy and willing to spend £4000 if required on a rebuild (Just hoped it...
Maybe this is something common, but I've not seen it discussed before, and I remember my old RX8 (on stock suspension and Pirelli tyres) used to do the same thing too.
Whenever the car looses traction, be it under power from a standstill, changing from 1st/2nd or 2nd/3rd quickly, or...
I've done lots of reading around the use of premix and wanted to ask the community on here what to do with quandary.
My 2006 231 S1 had only 10,589 miles on the clock when I picked her up. It's had two actual owners, one for a year and then it's long term owner who barely used it and had it...
Trying to remove some spacers. Nuts fused on and have completely succumbed to the force. Nut remover sockets then completed the destruction. I'm now thoroughly stuck.
My car back on road after 2 years and I found the substance for tyre repair is out of date.
At my advanced years would not use it anyway
I want to source space saver any idea where I should look
Just thought the post office was playing an April's fool prank on me.....
£346 for 6 months.
I believe april is when the tax rises incur but that is just outrageous. Nearly £700 a year now. With the mercedes sharting its gearbox the R3 has to pick up the slack as a daily for a moment so taxed it...
