i had a look around and could not find anything like this...
i have seen sim kind of threads on other car forums i have been a member of,
it makes for intresting reading once going to see what people have done each day.
so i thought i would start this thread to see what people have done to there...
I've seen a lot of chat on here about the cars people owned in the past and others they own now. As a relatively young driver i think i've had more than my fair share of cars and recently i seem to follow a pattern in buying- practical to sporty to practical and so on.....
OK maybe time to start some sort of record for the special editions so to start lets see what sort of list we can build so please add your details: then the usual copy and paste.
IF KNOWN INCLUDE THE BUILD NUMBER.
Well, I finally did it and wasn't even trying!!
Nice long trip from Leeds to Chichester, mostly cruising at 85 but still having fun at every roundabout I came across!
Original 300 mile thread seems to have dropped off so started another
Mod bit - title edited, this thread predates the R3 by a...
After reading this in another thread I thought I would just post to say that all is going well with my RX.
06/02/2006
Overslept after long weekend out and so the roads were clear on my hasty drive into work, a weekend of not driving made it seem even more lively.
As many members help one another I thought it would be nice to have a post where you can say thankyou to each other. I have been in many car clubs and can honestly say this forum is the most informative and friendly one I have come across. :thumleft: so firstly thanks to everyone who I...
The attached spreadsheet shows the total number of UK RX-8s registered and SORNed, broken down by model and year.
RX-8_UK_Numbers.xlsx
The headlines are:
- 24,730 individual cars have been registered between 2003 and 2018
- 13,289 still exist
- 8,092 are still on the road
- 11,440 are missing,...
Not to kick the hornets nest but why is the forum down so often?
I think recently I've had about a 50% success rate at actually accessing the forum. Normally I just see the database error, move on and come back later but seems more and more common.
I used to be a linux system admin so if someone...
I just wondered if anyone else has experienced awkward to find gears and how did you solve it.
When stationary and paying particular attention to movements I can go through all the gears and pootling about it’s ok, but it just seems that when ever I decide to race somone or drop the...
Hi, I was in a que at a car wash today and I know my car can get a bit warm so I was watching the engine temperature on my phone via obd2, it would creep upto 100 degrees C, stay there for a bit then come back down to about 96 degrees and go back up again…
I finally had a prototype board running in RX yesterday - figuratively speaking as more running on the seat\console
but A|C controls, Hazards, Dimming all properly plugged in and functioning with standard OEM wiring harness(es).
I still need to update the code to allow for recovery from low...
Just wondering what people's thoughts are on using the sprayable version of this on the underside of the chassis to protect from advancement of rust & water / salt ingress?
My intention will be to use it more or less daily, and certainly at weekends, throughout the winter; I'd like to do what I...
Again on the insurance side of things. I'm only a couple of years older than you at 27, and I think I'm looking at 800 - 900. I'd recommend trying for quotes on confused.com and elephant.co.uk . Elephant is Admiral, and Admiral was the cheapest for me on confused, but seems to have gone from there...
Ok I think I’m sick of the toxic oily smell from having no cat, the guy I bought the car off gave me a sports cat to fit, im assuming that the pop and bangs map will need to be removed so as not to damage the cat?
If that’s the case who can do it ? I was told that the map/current tune was done by...
I noticed while doing a couple of trips on the motorway this weekend that when I was maintaining a constant speed at about 4k revs, there was the occasional tug as if I had briefly come off the power. It didn't seem to happen when I floored it, but I did notice that power at the top was lacking -...
Yesterday, I cleaned the MAF and then ran the PCM reset process for an S1 from step three - I.e. I did not disconnect the battery first. I did this because the forum was down and so I was operating from memory! The brake pump responded in feedback from the oil gauge, but noticed that the DSC light...
With all the wet weather we have been having I've noticed one of my rear tail lights now has water inside of it :x . Also when I got the sills repaired on my car a year ago, I had the headlights polished so they didn't look cloudy anymore. Only a year later, they are both really foggy again. Do I...
Hi all, hope you're all having a fantastic day :). My car should be celebrating its 50,000th mile but instead, I've got a myriad of issues that have all seemed to crop up at around the same time and seem to be getting worse. I've tried researching around and have already tried several things, but...
My RX8 has decided to dump most of it's oil on the road. Literally just as I put it into reverse to park in my parking spot on the street I heard my aftermarket oil pressure gauge start beeping to indicate low oil pressure.
It would have been only a few seconds later that I turned the engine off....
Occasionally, when cold and idling in neutral the engine will drop revs as if to stall, pick up revs, drop back to normal idle speed and then repeat. If I drop the clutch, thus relieving a tiny bit of engine load, it goes away. It's not so much a problem in the summer but it probably indicates that...
Can any of you clever RX-8 owners tell me if you have to remove the front bumper to change a fog light bulb, many years ago I had changed the H11 halogen bulbs to LED's and not that I use them but one of the LED's is now not working but I think I had changed the bulbs with the bumper off whilst...
Hey, so I recently installed some prosport crystal gauges - Oil pressure, oil temp and water temp. For the oil pressure sender, I drilled and tapped the banjo bolt coming off the front cover (from oil pump?) that runs into the first oil cooler, the temp sensor is in the banjo bolt on the other end...
So on the last mot it was noted the shocks were misting. I'd now guess it's a bit more than just misting as the rear feels rather loose. Knowing the 40th anniversary had a different suspension to the other s1's what options are there for me to replace the Bilsteins without impacting the handling?...
After parking my R3 on an incline, I noticed the fuel gauge has been playing up a bit (was showing more than what it has). After a few drives and it being parked on flat for a while, I went to refuel and the gauge hasn't moved. Is this likely a sender that needs replacement? Interested to...
I am in a state of indecision about what to do car wise
My rexi is now up to 163,000 miles and I'm about to switch to a new job with a slightly longer commute
so I'm thinking of changing car
option 1) Gt86, don''t quite have the requsite 8K to buy a used car, there is one I can...
Ever since my engine rebuild 3.5 years ago, the engine has never quite felt the same at the top end. No problem elsewhere in the rev range. Soon after 8k there is a little but sudden drop in power. It's only noticeable in 3rd gear and higher, and I've only carried on to the red line in third -...
Around a month ago, I started having a problem with the abs and tc lights coming on intermittently. After testing the rear brake light, I saw it wasn’t working and replaced the boot wiring, which seemed to fix the issue until this Friday, when the lights came back on again.
An unfamiliar noise has become apparent on my S1, I noticed it when putting the engine under load between about 2k and 3k rpm. It is slightly tinny and, at first, made me think of sucking foam through a straw so I thought about something on the intake, but it disappears after 3.5/4k rpm so now I...
Hey all, earlier I was looking to see whether my APV, SSV and VDI are working by simply turn the ignition ON then off. I can hear the motor for the APV wirr and see the actuator for the SSV move but the VDI doesn't. My RX-8 is a 2005 231. Does anyone know whether the VDI is supposed to cycle with...
Supermarket delivery van scraped the family wagon while turning around on the driveway.
Only front bumper and light/fog light surround damaged. 'Tis merely a scrape'
Driver fessed up no problem, completed details on the scene, all good.
Now the supermarket's insurance co have got involved and...
I've searched, and read through a few threads, but basically I'm looking for a replacement catalytic converter to allow my RX8 to pass the MOT emissions test.
It has a Petit Racing/Milltek exhaust from the manifold back, this includes the cat-back section and either a resonated decat mid pipe...
Good morning
It has been a long time since I posted,I still have both cars.
I was looking at the track car yesterday and realized I have not done a track day in two years and I think it is because of the cost for one day,I am in France so my costs will be different to the uk.
This is what a normal...
Hi all,
So i carried out a compression test on my R3 today using a compression tester I bought on ebay (I know, says it all but I just wanted a reference and the reviews were positive.)
Anyway, I ran the car to temperature by taking it for a 20 minute drive, parked up, jacked up, removed passenger...
So I've got a small issue with the climate control on mine, where the set temperature doesn't seem to match the reality in the cabin
So If I set 18 degrees say it tends to be too hot
I have to come down to 15degrees to force it cold and then its too cold
switch it 16 degrees and its...
