As the title says chaps
Currently sat on the side of the motorway, with a sudden big vibration, jacking the car up shows front left bearing has about 8mm play at the rim
Could do with one for the weekend as this car is my daily
Gsf a and euros no helped
Coilovers seem to be a popular option. But while I enjoy a spirited drive now and then, the car will probably never find itself on a track. I feel a set of coilovers might be overkill for fast road use and that it will kill the delicate balance Mazda...
I couldn't find anything about this anywhere, although there are a couple of threads relating to headlight levelling warning lights.
Since having the car up a couple of months ago for its initial inspection and leaving it overnight in a front-raised position on the ramps, the headlight...
Are those shock absorbers compatible with our UK spec cars?
I know several UK rotary specialists stock the EnduraPro Plus shocks. But I'm wary about purchasing something with 16-level damping force adjustment: I can't set it up myself and I'm not sure how easy it is for a shop to set it up to...
I've just gotten around to trying to replace all the interior (+ mirror puddles) filament bulbs with nice bright LEDS.
Problem i'm having is, any bulbs that are intended to dim (2x Front dome, rear dome, 2x door card, 2x wing puddle) flicker when they dim and look terrible.
I've tried out...
Hi boys and girls.
Three Sisters is organising a one hour evening track attack with open pit lane on Tuesday the 19th of March.
I am thinking to go for a bit of fun and take the 7-8pm session.
If there is a bit of interest perhaps we can go for a meal afterwards?
Any other takers that want to meet...
Hi guys and girls.
Taught i should make a quick post about mazda RX8's i have owned in the last few years (personally owned, not bought to sell)
Feel free to comment if any of you guys know the cars or have owned them before or after me😊
On another note i would love my next one to be a low tax S1...
Not sure if this has been covered before but here it goes:
Recaro seats have the plastic trims at the top which tend to snap or break upon removal.
For anybody that is after a set every seat has 4 parts, two inner and two outer, they are the same for both seats and they can be supplied by Mazda....
Soon to be doing my first ever clutch.... So wish me luck I guess :^o  (hopefully I won't be making a fail photo compilation soon lol) have had a quick read up, i've got most of everything I need tools-wise and courage-wise, only one I am missing is the clutch alignment tool to keep it centred...
Myself and the Committee would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and best wishes for 2024.
Having had a fantastic turnout and truly magnificent show season in 2023, which has seen the club win 3 awards for best club in show, and a massive AM & AGM attendance, then 2024...
Just wanted to wish y'all a good Christmas and New Year. I hope Santa brings all that you want, and next year brings much joy and merriment with your RX8 and other things...
Stay safe, be nice, smile and wave...
It seems to be hit and miss, sometimes it starts and runs with no problems. I can try it the next day and it won't start, battery is fine as radio and lights work. Also when I do try to start there is nothing, doesn't even turn, also when it has started and I switch off it wont start again. Any...
Hi folks. I’ve been working hard this year to get my RX-8 back on the road after 3 years off. Complete what I think is to be the last job today, and find this:
Anyone know if this is worth repairing and if so, how much approx it might cost?
Cheers
I was driving the RX8 this week, and it seems to have developed an issue with the steering, it's being quite lumpy and showing a lot of resistance when I turn it left and right 90 degrees.
I know it isn't an electrical issue as I sorted that using forscan, and I cleaned the PS connectors, and it...
I've recently acquired a Rev8 catback. Unfortunately, it has bits from of catalytic converter rattling around. It's a shame as it is otherwise a pristine unit.
My main concerns are for some of the bits to end up clogging one of the exit pipes or for the bits to get very warm inside the back box...
I decided that it was absolutely necessary to get a Kaaz 1.5 way diff for the track car, and therefore scraped the bowels of the Internet for the best Black Friday deal on one. It should be delivered in the next few days.
So now I need to find someone to assemble and fit it.
I am currently diagnosing a misfire issue (P0301) and I suspect this could be my D585 coils (they are over 30,000 miles old).
I still have my OEM Mazda coils in the garage (which were working fine when I removed them from the car) so am tempted to fit these to see if this resolves the...
The car currently sits at 102 624kms (approx 65000 miles). Time for an oil change.
Last year I overfilled the engine with oil due to the oil pressure light staying on... After draining the engine and filling it with approx 3,5 liters (on the dipstick, the oil sits at 1/4 bellow MAX level) the...
This is a bit of a follow-up from the advert that I spotted on eBay with the crazy prices for a brand new full set.
After noting intrest from members for oem standerd replacements, thinking of having a crack at making some sets.
Basically id like to know if its worth my while.
Hey R3 owner peeps. I have mainly stumbled across this today whilst looking for something else.
DISCLAIMER - I have not printed this yet
I intend on printing a test part our of normal PLA (not suitable for use in the car long term, but cheap and good for a test print) and will obviously post...
Its raining and im a bit bored, flicking through ebay, and a couple of parts took my eye.
Ive got a the center consol trim with the silver trims which run upto the ash tray. If i was to get the top of the dash, air vents etc, a radio and a ash tray, would it be interchangeable?
So then chaps
I've seen on some strut braces they incorporate a master cylinder brace to help reduce motion and so improve brake feel
like this
mazda rx8 brace.jpg
do they do anything that you can feel?
From around the age of 13, I'd haunt the local car auctions. By the late seventies, there were loads of mint Mazda Rotaries going through, selling for around £200. Nobody wanted them.
The only one I can remember actually being driven was, from memory, an RX-2 with a Ford V4 conversion. This was in...
Got a hurdle to overcome on the banana project, sorting this knock connector. It's snapped off flush with the connector which I guess is a blessing and a curse. Downside is I can't joint back into that connector (although I do have spares from a bad/cut loom I have so that's not too bad - middle...
I am off to the land of the rising sun on Sunday with work. I am there for almost 3 weeks and on my final weekend there I wanted to try and explore a little more than I will over the prior couple of weeks.
I thought, I must go to Hiroshima and see the Peace Park and Atomic Dome. I had previously...
When the battery housing was removed today I noticed that the brace or strut located below, is quite heavily corroded. Is this cross member
attached to the car's structure with fixings or is it an integral part of the shell? I'd be interested to know if anyone has experience of a similar...
'Problems, in the end, make the enthusiast' (said someone, presumably)
Unfortunately my first motorway trip has resulted in an engine light and a slight hint of of ‘bogging down’ on acceleration. On returning home I noticed a few oil spots in the driveway which obviously helped settle my nerves...
An unfamiliar noise has become apparent on my S1, I noticed it when putting the engine under load between about 2k and 3k rpm. It is slightly tinny and, at first, made me think of sucking foam through a straw so I thought about something on the intake, but it disappears after 3.5/4k rpm so now I...
Recently changed diff & gearbox fluid to this. Do you think using 70/75w rear diff fluid may cause rear diff whine, as 75 /90w seems the more popular choice. Fluid is Redline MT-LV and I'm not certain it is actually the rear diff making the noise. Whine comes at over approx 50mph and gets louder on...
Having been toying with changing the head unit, but have read that although the metrakit seems to be good, it’s not 100% reliable. Is there anything out there that allows a head unit change but keeps climate controls and is reliable in its function?
As you may have read, we are planning on doing a regular Car Of The Month feature for every month through 2022 (and potentially beyond!). This is where all you lovely people can post up your cars for consideration! As with all things...
On my way to a kart race at whilton mill in Northampton and the car felt off. Struggled to hold idle and the throttle kept going up and down, even at speed. My fuel consumption was terrible. 60 miles was almost up to half a tank. When I got here I saw these codes. P0172 / P0335 / P2097 and MAF was...
Help please. The immobiliser system on my 2004 192 Rx8 is Heat Sensitive! I have to warm up the ECU , either by repeatedly holding the ignition on for 1 minute at a time(perhaps 10x when really cold) or by heating the ECU externally! Nobody in the car auto business is keen to help except new ECU ,...
Hello
I am having a problem with the track day car,the battery has been disconnected for about 8 months and the battery in the Key was dead so I put a new one in.when I try to start the car the immobilizer light flashes quickly and fuel pump does not prime
What have I missed?
Thanks mark
The story is that my 8 is not working since December last year, I'm suspecting that engine is low compression, it is not keeping a steady idle RPMs, air intake is blowing away somewhere, soon as I'm trying to even drive a bit on parking lot it...
Any lighting experts does anyone know do HID bulbs change with time, I went out earlier in the RX-8 in the dark and I noticed although dipped beams seem OK the focal point of the H9 main beams seem to be low down on the road in front of the car although the road ahead is well lit and the RX8 was...
