i had a look around and could not find anything like this...
i have seen sim kind of threads on other car forums i have been a member of,
it makes for intresting reading once going to see what people have done each day.
so i thought i would start this thread to see what people have done to there...
OK maybe time to start some sort of record for the special editions so to start lets see what sort of list we can build so please add your details: then the usual copy and paste.
IF KNOWN INCLUDE THE BUILD NUMBER.
I've seen a lot of chat on here about the cars people owned in the past and others they own now. As a relatively young driver i think i've had more than my fair share of cars and recently i seem to follow a pattern in buying- practical to sporty to practical and so on.....
Well, I finally did it and wasn't even trying!!
Nice long trip from Leeds to Chichester, mostly cruising at 85 but still having fun at every roundabout I came across!
Original 300 mile thread seems to have dropped off so started another
Mod bit - title edited, this thread predates the R3 by a...
After reading this in another thread I thought I would just post to say that all is going well with my RX.
06/02/2006
Overslept after long weekend out and so the roads were clear on my hasty drive into work, a weekend of not driving made it seem even more lively.
As many members help one another I thought it would be nice to have a post where you can say thankyou to each other. I have been in many car clubs and can honestly say this forum is the most informative and friendly one I have come across. :thumleft: so firstly thanks to everyone who I...
The attached spreadsheet shows the total number of UK RX-8s registered and SORNed, broken down by model and year.
RX-8_UK_Numbers.xlsx
The headlines are:
- 24,730 individual cars have been registered between 2003 and 2018
- 13,289 still exist
- 8,092 are still on the road
- 11,440 are missing,...
The engine has been fitted brand new in 2021.
It has covered some14k miles of being driven very hard,26 track days and many many drive outs.
After this usage i am very satisfied with the results.
No idea what it was when it was new,did not bother to test back then.
Test taken on a warmed up engine...
Firstly, thank you everyone for your tips, advice, and help here over the years :)
Secondly, my 2006 231hp 76k miles RX-8 that I've had for 15 years has started making a knocking noise :(
It happens when the car is fully warmed up and at idle, after around 10 minutes.
I also...
Wanted to get everyones opinions on whether they think porting the engine is going to be worth it for me during the rebuild.
I've effectively ruled out a bridgeport as I think the drivability in traffic to already be harsh enough. Now I'm looking at streetports or large streetports, and...
Just wondering how many of you daily drive your RX8s?
It’s been my only car since getting it in April, but it’s spending a whole lot of time stuck off the road and it’s getting frustrating…
Curious as to what sort of setups others have. Swapped from a 35k nearly-new car to the RX8 as we...
I'm an aspiring mechanic, but that can be difficult while navigating my autism. I'm enthusiastic about learning, but it can be challenging for me even with videos. I know I'm going to overexplain because I'm really scared I'll leave something important out. Please be kind, I already feel really...
On Sky More4 HD Car SOS are rebuilding an RX7 including looking around a Rotary engine with Mick Hurley of Hurley Engineering.
It's also on More4+1 @ 6.50pm.
I am on Goodyear F1 SuperSport tyre's in the 235/40r18 size. Pressures are 30-32 psi all around cold.
The car is on mild lowering springs and thick roll bars front and rear. Together with fast-road geometry I find that the front end is very sharp on turn-in and it's the rears that...
Coilovers seem to be a popular option. But while I enjoy a spirited drive now and then, the car will probably never find itself on a track. I feel a set of coilovers might be overkill for fast road use and that it will kill the delicate balance Mazda...
Good day.
Am i correct stating that the clutch pedals are same in all RX8's?
I have a creaking clattering clapping noise in my clutch pedal and i have a brand new S1 one which i plan to fit and i am only 99% sure they are same.
Can somebody clarify the rest of the 1%?
Feeling more and more frustrated with this car. :(
Just feel like more and more problems just show up all the time… had it since April, driven roughly 4000 miles, and spent over £1500 in essential repairs alone. (Not including 1k on undersealing, plus a couple hundred in servicing parts which I did...
As the title says peeps
I've found ever since converting mine to a sohn / remote oil feed setup the sump oil level gradually increases
I'm guessing this is fuel dilution ? so its quite slow about 0.5 ltr gained in 1400 miles -but I'm having to drain it out to avoid overfilling
Got my car bridgeported and now once the car is warm it's showing hesitation 4-5krpm range on depending on gear on light acceleration
Have changed the vacuum hoses, maf cleaned, ess cleaned and reset
Wondering if this is normal behaviour from a Bridgeport ? Fuel trims 2.3% ltft
Yesterday my audio completely stopped working from my 2010 R3's radio. After reading to press down on front of the LCD screen to try and fix the connections in another thread, it now makes an awful clicking noise, identical noise to this video:
Just wondering what people's thoughts are on using the sprayable version of this on the underside of the chassis to protect from advancement of rust & water / salt ingress?
My intention will be to use it more or less daily, and certainly at weekends, throughout the winter; I'd like to do what I...
Don't post much on here these days but thought I'd give a bit of an update on my PZ, which as some of you will know I've owned since new.
It's fair to say the car was getting a bit tired, with patches of corrosion and some cone induced damage from Blyton on the front bumper. Therefore I had been...
I always keep an eye out for it popping up after the buyer said he would sell it back to me if he ever wanted to sell on, needless to say he didn't, and sold it to an unknown.
It's still in MOT, however it's expires 29th Nov. Looking at...
Car has finally gone into the shop for work on the rusty sills and wheel arches, all is looking good so far, the rust doesn’t appear to have spread further into the wheel arch.
I have taken sump out at least a million times but i cannot remember if it is possibble to replace a level sensor without removing the top aluminium bit...
My sensor is going bad as it sometimes shows low oil level but oil level is fine so i am getting prepared to change it.
Thank you
As there appears to be a growing amount of kerfuffle on how bright cars headlights are blinding everyone who drives a car and as some RX-8`s are equipped with HID`s whilst not probably as intense as LED`s I just wondered how many owners do actually find LED`s dangerous as is being suggested now, I...
My car went into a garage to have its clutch changed (Exedy), OEM pilot bearing and OEM engine mounts.
After the change I immediately heard constant 'ssssshhhh' rotational noise from the box area whilst the car was moving. Something different from the usual release bearing sounds etc.
Having had my 8 for 5 weeks now, I want to get it checked over by a specialist just to settle my mind re some niggles on my mind, mainly re compression (which I think is decent, but no harm checking) & some intermittent jerkiness that seems to come from the nsf wheel at 50mph+, which disappears...
I have a 2003, 53 plate 231 that I have owned for many years.
The RX-8 of this vintage did not come with FL22 coolant, FL22 came along a couple of years after, and cars factory filled with such were I think labelled.
The service requirements for the non FL22...
Ok, i will start this thread by telling you all that my RX8 has been to Wales today, first stop Zip World Betws Y Coed, then Llandudno for a drive on the Marine toll road, then stop in town center for a good meal, view the fireworks show which btw was spectacular then straight back home.
All and all...
HI, I have a 2007 RX8 with just over 10,500 miles, owned from new, however would like it fully serviced, gearbox oil, power steering fluid changed, etc. Could anyone recommend a good provider who would also be cost effective. I live between Barnsley and Sheffield. Thanks
Took the car for a drive on Friday night and all of a sudden the battery warning light came on. Looking at my little gauge, the voltage started fluctuating.
The battery light on the dash would come on and voltage would drop gradually. Then the light would go off and voltage would suddenly climb....
Hi there, just wondering if anyone ran into this issue before.
I replaced my passenger front door also i swapped the plastic piece inside that everything mounts to. During that my window moved a bit but i just pushed it all the way in and put it all together.
Still preparing for the future and an eventual rebuild.
While at it, I wanted to compare the price of a brand new engine and the price of a high quality rebuild...
I have contacted Racing Beat today and have hit a snag: Mazda no longer manufactured the 4 ports 192 engine!
