I hope in this thread to clear up a few points about compression results on RX8 and rotaries in general and allay many unfounded fears that people have over lower compression figures.
I have heard many times it mentioned than anything below 6.9 bar compression at 250rpm is an engine failure. Well...
This is a repost of an original thread by Fabrice (Rasputin) that has since expired. A classic for all members and non-members to enjoy =D> (or just stare at the pretty pictures ).
(apologies, but my sig appears at the bottom of each post - this is all Rasputin's work).
I thought I would create a post detailing the part number for the exhaust crush washer which fits the RX8 toyosport manifold.
I spent the best part of 3 weeks trying to find this.
Part numbers listed below :
19004800 - ajusa
YF01-40-450A - mazda
4167203- ford
I was looking up the RX-7 series numbers and thought it would be nice to have them collated in a thread. Then I decided to add the other RX series. Then I thought I'd add the Cosmo series. Mazda also made some weird rotary versions of other models, such as the pick up.
Hi Guys,
I know you can get parrot system, etc, but wanting the simplest solution possible to get Bluetooth through my speakers, a while back I got a 'Bluetooth to FM transceiver', the kind that just plugs into your Aux power socket and gives you some USB power too.
I am wanting to make sure I get on top of the regular servicing on my RX-8 R3. It had an engine change a couple of years ago, so I am looking at doing the spark plugs soon as well as all the oils (gearbox, diff) and air filter. Is there anything else I should be looking to add to my...
Hi I know this probably has been asked before but is there a way to sort this as driving me crazy at the moment #-o ..can this be tightened or something If I remove the door card..just has a bit of play before opening the door any advice would be greatly appreciated guys👍
Hi guys!
I know how much of you guys are loving to film the action with your cars and i am coming today asking for a pro tip.
I would like to fit my gopro at the track in such a way to capture the road and also the driving style and gauges.
For that i have done a bracket that sticks onto the dome...
Put the cat back on yesterday for mot and I've had another front bolt that had seized and had to use a socket and spanner to snap it (2nd time its happened) what other bolts can I get to avoid this perhaps higher temperature ones?
Doesn't do my lungs any favours

I thought I'd share this as it has taken a long time to isolate. The symptoms were an occasional knock, heard in the cabin and felt through the body of the car. I originally suspected something on the drivetrain as I thought I could feel it through the gear stick, however I was in fact picking it...
I did a real short (less than 3 min) vid comparing the Varta N72 and the Yuasa HSB030 batteries on the PZ to demonstrate the importance (or lack of) CCA in relation to starter speed on a normal day. This does not take in to account really low temps which is when CCA really plays a factor, but I...
A few weeks ago after having researched for tips and advice regarding driving this wonderful car in winter, I decided to add a few light modifications to give me a better picture of how she is running, as the majority of the trips I do during the week are short sub 5 mile commutes...
Monday morning, wasted 4 hours of my life on a speed awareness course. Where shall I begin, well, in my opinion, there are over-careful drivers, careful drivers and nutters! I fall into careful driving, considerate to others, taking advantage of the open road as and when...
This relates to my car (2007 SE) but for any dads (or mams) out there who need to carry a double buggy I can confirm the baby jogger city mini double fits with room to spare. - I was well surprised!!
Had to move the emergency wheel repair kit to the side but that was it - I even think it made the...

So having read many threads, and checked my firmware version (10.01 :x ) I figured that while I save up a few quid for a double din adaptor and unit, I would have to find another solution for my stock radio.
I ordered this FM bluetooth transmitter off Amazon and it works great. Connects almost...
I’m working on and off in Swindon at the moment, and have a flat there so I can sometimes stay over when necessary.
A couple of months ago some ‘kind soul with a predeliction for scrap metal’ :-k cut my Cat off. The Mazda dealer, once I’d had the car recovered to Boston Mazda (BigPete’s...
Hi All,
So I took the bitch to MOT to a nearby garage. The mechanic guy lives practically next door and the garage is 5 mins away, was supposed to be a simple MOT. Failed on fuel leak. Every once in a while I smelled a faint whiff of petrol when I filled the car full so I was like okay. I had some...
So do they just pop off with some leverage?
And then press back on?
I should check for corrosion, treat if required, and spray with waxol.
Then they clip back on?
Is there a procedure out there for getting an RX8 to start after a prolonged spell of non-use? I attempted to start her after returning from my holidays (about 10 days of not used) without success. Normally she starts after a couple of cranks but all that's happened this time is the starters...
RX8 started fine yesterday Went out this morning to set off on 350 mile journey and am just getting a reasonably quick clicking from starter and no turning of engine Lights etc ok Have put battery on to charge but in meantime wondered if might be another issue? any suggestions Am very new to my...
Well guys,
for my 100 post I will give you all a tip.
Don't do as I did with my coolant tank.
I recently changed all my fluids after buying the car and was fairly pleased with myself for completing them all .
However just before my Oulton park track day I realised the coolant was a little higher...

Hi guys.
Can anyone give me some idea on the best way to go about fixing this ding in my front aero lip please. The lip will be coming off soon as I have managed to find a replacement bumper as that crack above the grille has annoyed me since I got the car.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Everyone,
I have never heard the beep and the rev limit since having my Rex from February. I have gone through the instrument cluster diagnostics and can hear the beep when I get to #14 after a second or so and it is set as 'on' but despite this there is no beep when driving?
Any suggestions?...
Has anybody had any creaking noises from when they turn their steering wheel? Is this something I should go back to Mazda on?
Any advice would be welcome.
Inevitably everyone will have to replace the drop links at some time or another especially if you intend to keep the RX-8 - the original O/S front link recently broke on my car @ only 25K miles so if you are in need of replacements make sure the ones you buy have spanner flats on the mounting...
Saw through a selling thread and have noticed on car pics etc., that a lot of people who get their R3 rims refurbed/ painted often don't get the centre caps done due to not wanting the logo painted.
Well, I noticed when I had mine done, that on the R3 rims (not on the S1s) the centre cap...
235 40 18 IS Much cheaper than a 225 45 18 and a 245 is around the same price ,so what size fits wit no problems considering the pz is lowered slightly
I have found a cure for my scratch in the silver centre console that I thought was worth posting.
I had a nasty scracth from someone carrying a hard suitcase in the back seats. The scracth eroded all the paint and all i could see is a line of black in the middle of...
Ordered Dec 13th and I'm still waiting. Due this weekend apparently, but I won't hold my breath. Seems from reading this site that most people got theirs significantly quicker - must admit I didn't shop around dealers for better delivery times, but wish I had now. Anyway, just wondering how quickly...
The rubber engine mounts help reduce the amount of vibration that is transmitted from a running engine to the chassis of the car. The rubber mounts are fixed onto the chassis, and a bracket is fixed to the engine. If the rubber mount fails then the engine bracket will settle onto a hard stop (by...
