With JDM Combe and Beaulieu on the same weekend it struck us that would be an excellent opportunity to have a WHOLE WEEKEND of car shows including our ANNUAL MEET !!
So it is JDM Combe on the Saturday 20th July, discounted...
Following a few recent conversations on the forum, I thought I would just compose a little message for all to give better understanding of Club ethos and tradition, for clarification or new information for members.
Firstly, the club is all about our members and enjoying time...
Since I don't use my rex much and my OBD reader is always plugged in I find my new battery feels a little sluggish on starting.
So, I'm just rebuilding a till in a Halfords and notice they have the Ring Battery Maintainers at a really good price, cheaper than I can get them on Ebay! Amazon is a...
Hi I've just stripped my motor to find what I think is 2 useless rotor housings :( while breaking the engine I discovered 2 broken apex seals but luckily there wasn't any substantial scoring or gauges! But excessive flaking identical on both housings. I take it these are useless? Also why would the...
Does anyone know how to use the Tape/Cassette player ?
Ive looked online and i have not seen how.
I know where is it located but my on RX8 there is a cover over. (I know everyone else's does)
But i don't know how to open that I've tried from the bottom but it doest clip open or open much.
Its been driving me mad for a while trying to figure it out, i can't find it anywhere in the owners manual or in searches.
Its in the middle section first compartment where the cup holders are, there is a piece of trim that you can remove to adjust the handbrake and there is what looks like a...
Right tried my best too find a sensible place to post this so here it is. I had a really annoying rattle in the drivers side door trim whenever any amount of bass was put through that speaker. So after cleaning the interior yesterday afternoon i decided to remove the door trim to see if i could...
Hi all, as a newish owner I'm about to start premixing and I have a couple of quick questions about it that I could use answering. I've done a search or two but can't really find anything other than what oils are best and rough amounts to use. But I was hoping someone could give me a bit more of a...
Just noticed on my car that a bit of plastic has broken on the handbrake lever.
It's the bit of plastic at the bottom of the handle that covers the gap that would otherwise be left in the centre console when the lever is up. (does that make sense ?)
I promise i am not this thick normally lol i have only just got the car and wanted to ask if i have started my RX on an icy morning and it stalls will it start again no problem? because i have turned mine off before cold and learnt the hard way that the engine floods :(
The purpose of this post is primarily an 'I told you so' (the title will draw you in I know it  ) but figure it could be quite informative anyway.
I could write a big long thing about what it is, what it does and why we do it ... for now tho we use seafoam as opposed to the old school...
So Ive just ordered my new cat for my rx8 from mazda rotary parts.
But do i need to anything else? ie ignition coils?
Ive never had a problem with it starting so im not sure if they need replacing.
Any suggestions?
Not sure where to put this thread...
Anyway, i recieved an email from halfords (not sure quite how they came about my email address though) the content of this email was a promotion for ALL castrol 4litre oils.
£17.95
Not a bad price, hope somebody can benefit from this!
Having had this for a year or so(there are other posts on it)I finally had enough and took it to my local dealer
Long story short after numerous days or trying to find problem (whole dash out) it turns out to be the windscreen.
What has happen is that when you drive hard (like track days etc,or...
I have a problem with the Bluetooth on my R3. The dealer is stumped and going to speak to Mazda Technical next week. The system is locked out due to a security code. They tell me they have tried (unsucessfully) to reset it using their computer and disconnnecting the battery
After removing the front wheel to deal with the rust on the inner parts of the brake disc - I then replaced the wheel and nuts but left the locking key still on the nut! Warning - the key does detach from the nut when driven. I am still waiting for a replacement key 6 weeks after ordering a...
I thought I'd share this with people as a warning not to fall into the same trap as me.
I bought my car privately with a new MoT but have since found out that a/the previous owner taped over warning lights rather than fix the problems   .
I'm not naive - I did check for fault codes...
Looks like the winter is already here, lower temperatures than normal for this time of year.
Whilst sitting on my sun lounger freezing my jewels off I thought of how to look after my Rex during cold months.
It would be gr8 if we all could give a few NO NO'S and YES YES'S.
I have noticed that there have been a few people reporting damage to their vehicles bodywork, wheels etc when leaving them with garages employed to carry out specific work.
As this is something I must admit to be completely paranoid about and the fear of the 'it was like that already' comment...
After finding that I could not get my front wheels off I have found the perfect technique for the removal of stubborn wheels without kicking or causing any damage.
1) Crack the nuts whilst the car is on the ground.
MyGarage Manager is a great, free, program to keep track of all the actions and events associated with your vehicles.
Whether you've just got the single Rex and have it serviced by your local dealer, or you have many vehicles and do most of the work yourself, you will find this tool invaluable to...
Have been spending time researching all manner of stuff RX-8ish over the past week or so. One of the things I came across is that you can do a test on the instrument pack on the RX-8. It doesn't break anything and you can't do any harm apart from resetting the trip mileage.
This is a good description of how to remove kerb damage on your wheels - it is not difficult to do and I have repaired many wheels now using this method.
Since this hot weather and the A/C working overtime, i noticed the mats and carpet were wet :? on passenger side when i was cleaning the rx, put some paper down and ran the air con, after about 5 mins a puddle formed about 5 inches across, took glove box off and checked the blower and...
This isnt a DIY but its useful advice - when replacing the sump I would advise that you replace the bolts as they will be very weak from the continuous cooling and heating - I managed to shear the head off one while applying a minimum amount of torque. Also dont overtighten the new ones - they dont...
Bit of an odd one on mine today. Have just fitted new Bosch wipers, on the road today the wipers started squeaking at each end of the travel. It's not the blades though, even with the wipers off the screen and pointing up to the sky the mechanism's still squeaking - sounds like a dry bush.
Just thought I would put this on to help anyone who may have the same problem I've been having. With the heavy rain we had just over a week ago my drivers footwell flooded about half an inch deep. Took it back to dealers and they couldn't find anything, so had a very productive day today and tried...
If like me your glovebox damper is broken here is my fix for the problem. The plastic is very weak and as a result it broke before I received the car. The fix involves screwing a piece of cable tie around the weak plastic.
Picture no. 1 shows a closeup of the fix with cable tie.
Picture no. 2 shows...
Hi, can't find a power socket either in the rear seats or in the boot. I need one in the rear to power the little ones portable DVD player for peace and quiet on logn journeys. I also need one in the boot fo rthe fridge for weekend camping trips, JAE etc.
Today my key jammed in the fob and would not come out as it had become slightly bent. Luckily my daughter had a hair clip that we used to gently pry it out.
After finally getting my R3, I thought I'd use the fact I: 1) Owned a '1st generation' RX-8 for three years, 2) Am a bit of a nerd about engineering and how it evolves, and 3) Am off sick today to provide a guide for the curious to the visible (i.e., not the fact that the oil delivery system has...
I went to leave for the Midlands Monthly meet on Wednesday, and the car had a low battery from laying dormant, so I consequently flooded it!
MazdaAssist came out, the guy had seen many cases, and set to work on repeatedly turning over, took the plugs out, dried them out, heated them up, all to no...
I've just bought an RX8 and the original mazda battery was pretty much shot so I went out and had a new one fitted today.
Car starts much better now (although it now stalls when idling after first starting up amd the anti skid light wont switch on/off)
A had company come out to my workplace called chips away to get priced up some repairs for my alloy wheel dont let your girlfriend drive your car bless her. He said there was no point all the wheels had signs of corrosion and that i should contactmy mazda dealer. So i did and aparently the 2003 to...
