With JDM Combe and Beaulieu on the same weekend it struck us that would be an excellent opportunity to have a WHOLE WEEKEND of car shows including our ANNUAL MEET !!
So it is JDM Combe on the Saturday 20th July, discounted...
Following a few recent conversations on the forum, I thought I would just compose a little message for all to give better understanding of Club ethos and tradition, for clarification or new information for members.
Firstly, the club is all about our members and enjoying time...
Over the weekend ive started fitting a powerflex bush kit on the rex,(bigger job then anticipated),first observation is that the suspension looks to have been assembled dry,or at the least with minimal grease, second observation, some of the cam adjusters for the camber, castor and toe were not set...
I have a 55 plate Velocity Red 230 which was kindly tail ended by a drunk driver with 1500 miles on the clock. Strangely he is still alive!!
Problem is this was in October and the car has been in and out of the body shop for a total time of 6 weeks because they cannot get a match for the paint...
Not only will they attract a chavs mucky thieving fingers towards your wheels but they could also cause all sorts of hassle if you don't take care in fitting them.
Case in point,
I have just spent 20 minutes or so tentively dremeling off 2 caps due to them corroding onto the valve...
Just got my car back complete with new engine and clutch to be advised some extra work needs doing.
Seems that there's a new advisory from Mazda that the boot lid can sometimes catch the body just inside the boot well and rub paint down to bare metal. It can catch at the very frontmost points of...
Two years down the line and my wipers have finally begun to shred.
A quick trip to the dealers reveals that a complete wiper blade is quite expensive and i struggled to get aftermarket ones which had the correct air deflector for the drivers side ( bought some and had to take them back) but these...
As I have been struggling with this I have made a little Spreadsheet that lists the features of the most popular IPOD integration kits. Not sure where to post this but hope you all find it useful!
James
Edit - I know there is an IPOD post but i thought this would get missed at the...
Just noticed this thread and thought id post a bit of usefull info.
The bulb type is actually printed on the outer lens of the headlight unit, along the bottom edge.
It gives Dipped Main Beam and Main Beam.
Under the present climate I thought that this information might help someone who has the need to cancel their finance agreement.
I had completed 61700 miles in two years in my 8. I had a three year loan so a year left to run but I wanted another new car (starting a new warranty period) I owed 13k...
I noticed the other day that one of the rear seatbelts has the buckle on the wrong way. Can't swear that it's not always been like that, but not noticed it before, and I usually strap the kids in myself.
Now my first thought was that one of the kids has got it slightly twisted, and pulled the belt...
At 14,000 miles the oil coolers on my car have taken quite a battering with quite a bit of damage on the fins which then took a while to put right so I decided to fit some protection.
I bought 2 different types of mesh consisting of some finer mesh for the oil coolers as they are open to quite a...
My fake PZ has working brakes though :P Do as Will says ya cheapskate or make me an offer on my old discs, they only did 12k  Oh and don't you owe me a lunch MetA? Got your not fully paid for shortshifter on yet
Howdy,
Needing a new battery, I walked into Halfords this morning and bought one. It is branded simply as Halfords, and they label it HCB072 . The guide booklet in the store says this is the right battery for the RX8, being able to deliver a cold cranking current of 550 amps.
Hi I'm fortunate enough to get my oil free from a company fuel card, so me thinks great when I did the search, and hope I've got it right in saying that Total Quartz Future 9000 5W-30 is the same as the Mazda Dexilia 5W-30?
Trouble is can't find the correct grade in the Total Service stations, can...
please can someone tell me if an LED sidelight only flickers when the car is moving is it likely to need replacing or is it a loose connection? I had some LED strips fitted to follow the curve of the bumper near the fog lights and they are fixed up to the sidelights & i am...
The top of my illuminated gear know (the chrome bezel which holds the transparent window) has become loose and buzzes annoyingly. I'm not clear how it attaches to the top of the leather-covered know, so before I start poking it about does anyone know how to reattach it? Thanks.
Hi guys I just got my RX back from mazda after returning it so they could sort a bunch of scratchs out that they just left when they sold it to me.
My question is that on the front nose there are a considerable amount of stone chips which they have touched up and done a crap job making the car look...
All, Here's a quick guide I put together to help those who feel that their lamps are set too low or too high, if you are coming up to MOT time, and want to check your lights for the test. If there are any questions, then I'll amend the guide to include a more concise description.
I currently have a 6 speed gear box in pieces to check for gear selection problems and have found every sincro ring needs renewing due to wear!.
Upon careful inspection of all parts I now believe that this problem has been caused by a worn gear-leaver assembly leading to the gears not being moved...
few days ago I decided to move my number plate. Biggest problem was to remove old plate holder. I was looking in the forum for help, I found few topics about this but with no pics so I decided to make this ,,tutorial,,.
2admins: You can merge my thread with others of course.
Halfords now do touch up paint mixed in store to any colour code - I have just tried a 300ml spray can for Strato Blue, the manufacturer is Holts and it looks to be a good colour match and not a bad price @ £10.99.
new to the forum, but ive checked it out in the past to see just how impressed people are with the rx8 - and generally, i think that 8 customers are very satisfied!
i bought mine from new 18 months ago now, and ive been really pleased with it. i use my car for work which sees me driving...
Just seen these on fleabay.( Can't seem to get the link in properly but if you have the time the item number is 310042832115) Will they fit straight on to the car using existing tyres??? Don't understand about offset and all that.Just a newbie trying to get along!!! Thanks very much.
Hi guys and girls ..
I know I've read in various threads about people providing their own oil for the first service. Can I ask how much oil needs to be provided as I'm thinking about doing the same thing?
I changed the original gear knob, and swapped it for my other car's one.
The other car is a Mazda323f, and the two gearknobs can't be compared for quality, the rx-8's feeling beefy and cleverly crafted, the 323's feeling plastichy and light.
But the shape of the knob is what counts, and I must say...
Hello everyone, just wanted to know how many people leave the climate control on. For a car that consumes a lot of petrol anyway it has the nice option of climate control which doesn't drink more fuel. My last car had air con, which i can honestly say i very rarely used, and when i did it wasn't...
Hi there, anyone got an idea of how to remove the rexy's front bumper, i mean relatively how hard and how long it will take...Just brought a air diversion duct from racing beat which channels cold air from the nose area to the air box, but cant damn take the front bumper off...so the item is...
Does anyone know the answer to this one, the knuckle rapping technique was not quite definative and I know bits on the RX-8 can sometimes defy expectations.
Well I finally got round to fitting my RA2 and am really pleased with the result. The double hinged mirror on the 8 makes this mount possible, and you can't even see it from outside the car.
While looking through the owner's manual I noticed that they showed a pouch with spanners & screw drivers. When I checked my car this was missing. I checked with my dealer who informed me that the RX8's don't have this item. Is this correct ? did anyone else actually get these tools? :?:
I have previously fitted Blue LEDs to the puddle lamps, trunk and interior lights, but after living with them for a while decided that the blue puddles weren't best on a Titanium Grey (they look great on Winning blue!).
So... I decided to change them back, and in doing so I broke the mirror face...
The attached pic show how a Sat Nav (Tom Tom 1 XL) can fit quite neatly into the removable tray by the lighter socket.
I have wedged the supplied TOMTOM windscreen holder behind into the tray by ramming around a lot of (dark coloured) sponge material, but I would think a more permanent fixture to...
After 2 weeks standing my car refused to start, totally flat battery? Whilst speaking to Mazda Assist, they offered me a starter modification. This had not been offered previously, despite having a service only 4 weeks ago? According to the repair chap, this causes the starter motor to turn more...
Has anyone had the problem of a broken driver's seat. This isn't the creaking seat problem (that I've also had) but more serious. The motorised lower seat part moves and it's possible to move it up and down with your hand. My dealer says he has seen this once before and a new part is over £1000 but...
Hi eveyone in the club
just thought i would drop a line to say i has anyone used dubbing on the seats?? Just had a go myself and i must say it has brought the seats up like new it also protects against all the wet weather we have been having, Give a go it really works
Paul
Found it a bit difficult to find information regarding Offset / ET , Wheel width , size , tyres etc so thought I'd pop the above up to get into one thread :) If anyone finds any relevant sites to help out please feel free to add !
At the Austosport show in B'ham, I met our Greek OBR (the engine management company I work with) dealer, Mikhalis, who introduced me to Nick, a Mazda dealer, and also a RX nutter. He then introduced me to 2 other Greek blokes who designed and manufacture the Sprint Booster. They asked me to test...
I just got my first puncture (ever) - I think it was man made while I parked as I recovered the offending screw from the tyre (it's not just a screw it, there is also a little wedge to keep it upright - evil, I will post photo tomorrow).
I drove home (so it's in the garage now) as I only noticed...
