Here is a list of useful links for aftermarket bits and services.
I've been a club member for over two years now and in that time have found lots of useful links as well as other club members pointing me to some, so below is a list of useful links if you what any aftermarket bits for your 8....
I’ve got a series 1 with original exhaust including cat and I’m looking to upgrade the catback for a more sportier sound. Budget of around £600. What are my best options? Thought of Cobra, RRP🤷🏼♂️
Cheers
After burning through my redstuff pads surprisingly quickly I have new plain discs and M1144s all-round on the way, plus a set of caliper refurb kits for a full on brake refresh.
Of course this has led me to consider changing the brake hoses for aftermarket Teflon/stainless items, but being a...
One of the first things i like to do when i get my hands on an 8 is modify some ecu parameters in order to make the car perform slightly better and perhaps last longer.
Some of the moods i firstly do are:
Increasing idle when warm and decreasing idle when cold:
I like this mood because i believe...
I was looking around for an uprated starter to add some zing to my ignition..
There's not a lot of info out there except to Ebay sh*t and 2k starters with 14 teeth? Price-wise I've seen 40 quid all the way up to 200 quid. Of course, money doesn't always equate to better...
Wanted to recommend as a great source of high quality floor mats.
After finding out that Mazda doesn't produce the R3 style floor mats anymore, and wanted to charge £60 for the standard RX8 ones, I looked around and found the above site.
They let you upload a custom logo to use and they'll...
Hi all. I've been shopping around regarding replacing the stock head unit for the R3.
I've had a look around at both the (I think) current head unit upgrade threads for the R3 - namely HarSc's double din guide and Dr. F's Seicane guide from 2021 - and I've come to the conclusion that all I'm...
I recently came across this video doing my usual upgrade/modification research ideas:
A search on the internet indicates there is only one retailer in the UK who supplies these (in 356 instead of 355) and the fitment is for VW Mk5 Golf. Does anyone know if these will fit an '09 R3? Or perhaps...
I've recently purchased on ebay Via Australia a Chinese android head unit that is supposedly tailored to the car without the need for adapater harnesses. I've seen these units on ali express ect, but nothing online from someone who's actually fitted one. The one on ebay has sold a few, so they must...
The missus says my knob isnt up to the job and i need a bigger one… im currently running a Jass Performance gear knob i pilfered out of my MX5 and although perfect in that its smaller than the OE one in the ‘8. Ive always fancied a big ‘crystal’ gear knob but now cant find any good looking ones and...
I've been looking into a COFS or Sohn adapter recently with a view to getting hold of one over the next few months.
I've seen the RRP COFS, but as good as they look, they are quite pricey and seem to sell out really quickly. This leads me nicely on to my point; is there anywhere in the UK that...
Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I've just been to Halfrauds (to buy a pack of standard bulbs to sort out my sidelights) and had an interesting discussion with one of their 'specialists' (*cough*) so thought I'd ask the brain trust on here what they think.
Hi guys.
i have found a guy on other forum that builds smart little gadgets for RX8's.
Among them i found a nice display which sits in the ashtray, connects to the canbus network of the vehicle and can display values found across the can network.
It has a nice boot screen and you can select when the...
I am playing with the idea to buy a big brake kit for my car.
At the moment i have front and rear EBC brake disks with yellow stuff brake pads.
The first thing that i dislike about them is squeaking when cold, they squeak like mad and i have tried all their backplates, stickers grease and so...
Judging by all of the absolutely gorgeous projects on the forum, I'm not sure how useful this will be. But I wondered if there was any worth in creating a cheapest sources thread for those who want a little bit of upgrade on a budget. This is just my research, please feel free to add....
Hi All,
I have recently been installing the Ryan Rotary Performance catback with their resonated 200 cel cat (V-band variants) while the car has been tucked away for winter along with a list of servicing and maintenance having bought the car at the beginning of November and have had some trouble...
In my quest of being different and making the bay look pretty I've had a thought of relocating the oil filter to where my air pump use to be.
So far can't see anything other than some stuff from the USA forum which I take with a pinch of salt.
Problems so far:
Fire hazard: if it leaks it will be...

Had a slightly strange reply from RSW regarding the ATR momo wheel that I requested to be retrimmed. They politely declined.
Saying that they are unable to retrim the momo wheel as the foam can come apart when removing the leather, its a common problem and it took too much time last time and...
Yes, I know..... Bear with me..... I have often wondered about the D585 coils. What they really are. What their original source is. And what the options are. So I've been doing a bit of research.
Firstly, I'm not a coil expert, and there are people on here that know far more than I do, so anyone...
I hate the plastic one, and mine's broken so needs replacing anyway. Having a quick look about for a replacement (that might have the benefit of being slightly more sturdy/protective, plus shinier=better), led me to this US example from LRB Speed;
Can anyone recommend what mesh to use on the Mazdaspeed front end? The only thing i know is i want it black, not silver.
Not sure what size pitch is recommended for adequate protection to the oil coolers and radiator? Is there any reason to go for ABS plastic rather than stainless steel?
I thought I'd found the answer to this here as being 67mm, but I've bought some eBay special caps and they are too big!
This may just have been my misunderstanding, so without going and measuring the wheel am doing the lazy thing and asking the collective (and to also provide this as reference for...
Hi, on a different thread praising Agreed-value insurance, I mentioned how some nice, metal-loving victims with hearts of gold :-k cut my catalytic converter off, and unscrewed all the sensors whilst I was parked at my temporary occasional flat in sunny Swindon.
Any suggestions for a good exhaust manifold to replace my rusted original (for less than the £500 the Mazda dealer just quoted me!)? Probably will just change that part, I have a Toyosports stainless steel catback which was on when I bought the car. Seems in ok condition but, just in case, if I was...
Hi all, so at the moment as some of you may be aware, whiteline is currently having a sale of 25% on all its products for Black Friday. So I am probably going to pick up a set as I have a problem with buying things that are on offer, but my question is to do with the tie rods.
Now I know the Dr of Franken has had many dabblings with this sort of thing, and may well be able to enlighten ( ), so I thought we could have a thread for headlight things. 8)
One of the actions that I took away from the AGM was to identify a source for replacement club shop stock of the CG-Locks , after the last one was sold over the weekend.
The contacts I have with the manufacturer in the US haven't been responding and everything suggests that there is at least a...
Can anyone suggest suitable aftermarket replacement towing eye/straps that are correct fitment for S1's.
Looking for something with a bit of bling factor.
Will need at least one fitted for Three Sisters track day in Feb.
I've just ordered a set of Bilstein B8 Sprint shortened dampers to go with my H&R springs, and shortly afterwards saw on the t'interwebs a few American owners claiming that the damper alone will introduce a slight ride-height reduction at the front because of the spring perch position.
Having a bit of an ongoing saga with fuel hose at the moment.
Halfords fuel hose is sh!te, I don't know how they get away with selling it. I put this replacement hose on back in March this year, brand new out of the packet and it's perished already

Whilst I'm waiting (anxiously!!) for my gauge pod from Block8head Custom Vent Pods to arrive from the States, I'm about to press the button to order the gauges for my PZ.
I've gone with the three-gauge vent pod and the usual standards of Water Temp, Oil Temp and Oil Pressure. I'm...
As the car is in the shop having a rebuild (more on that later), after 100k miles on, is it time to change the rad?
What are the options? This ( is very pretty but it's also £260 quid (assuming we don't have a club discount anywhere??) which is quite a bit. Is it better to find a...
Good morning all, I was recently bought a after market CAI, the one with the cone filter that does away with the air box and leaves a gaping hole in the engine bay. I was wondering if anyone has ever fitted one but left the air box in place and basically cut it so the pipe goes right through it....
hello all ,i have been looking at alloy wheels for my 231 and have come across Cruize wheels on ebay. there is a great choice at what appears to be a good price. does anyone on here have first hand experience of these. i would like to hear any comments ,good or bad, from people with first hand...
I'd like to get a bit of discussion going regarding the PCV system on the RX-8 and the benefits and drawbacks of plumbing an oil catch can into the PCV system.
First of all, in case anyone's reading this who doesn't know what a PCV system is and wants to know, let me provide a brief explanation....
Hi all,
Just wondering if any MX5 parts are compatible with our Rx8's?
In particular I'm looking for an LED 3rd brake light to match the R3 style and came across this one
available at
Would anyone know if this would be a straight swap or would it needed a bit more work?
I'm thinking about replacing the Sat Nav in my RX8 with an old Nexus 7 I have lying around (I'm aware of lengthy threads on installation).
I'd probably use the Torque app to connect to Car Ecu etc but was wondering about a few other things:
1) Has anybody used the pogo pins for charging rather...
