The JDM car that I've been working on here is suffering from a bad case of what I call Clearcoat Bloom - whiteish patches caused by leaving the car covered by a random collect of tarps, in all weathers.
The roof is most effected, though there is some on the boot lid and bonnet.
Does anybody know whether these are stocked anywhere in UK? I've found a website in US which sells them, but by the time you pay for delivery etc, they cost £40-50 a pop -
Wow. Cleaned the car at the weekend and thought, wonder if those tailpipes are meant to be shiny! A quick google revealed this stuff is what you need to use (Amazon delivered the next day) and wow; from black - to polished in about 10 mins of effort. Amazing, for once the internet is correct!...
Some cleaning/detailing pictures from today, sorry the pictures look big (at least they are on my post preview).
Mazda RX8:
- Door shuts cleaned with Rhino Goo fast action cleaner, rinsed, then wiped with Powermaxed QD
- Interior glass cleaned with Autoglym glass polish
- Interior vacuumed and...
Just a heads up, one of my friends runs a detailing business and will be along at the BBQ. Great opportunity for people to ask any questions and so on if they have them 8)
I’ve discovered hot jet washes. Finally had it with broken Karchers and grabbed a harry hot wash. I didn’t know these existed. Basically, you pour in a couple of liters of diesel; connect water and power. Pull the trigger and you get 80degree hot water jetting out, and a load of nice diesel smell...
Just a quick update of a club members discount i have for us kindly provided by Andi at Detail Bug Car Care.
He supported us at the Betws Charity event i organised a couple of years back in his Supra and has developed his own range of car care products which have recieved many...
In my ongoing strive to look after the car(s) properly without having a driveway of my own on which to happily do work or clean them, I've been looking into the best way to provide some kind of portable fix for washing the cars.
Long and short of it is I park my cars in what is...
I notice with my lights on I can see a myriad of little tiny marks on the lens plastic which cannot be removed by exterior polishing and make the lens seem a bit 'foggy'
I know they are not dirt on the inside either as my attempts to wipe them off using a small rag through the light bulb...
Has anyone tried internally cleaning a coolant tank??
I need to sort a coolant leak on mine and thinking about doing (another  ) full flush and maybe jazzing up the hoses with red ones whilst I'm doing it. I have the common tank sensor fault on mine and 1: want to have it working again, 2:...
Hi
Sarah’s fiat 500c is four years old and I need to clean the roof and water proof it ,having never done this any advice on products and cleaning techniques would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance mark
Thought I'd give it a go on the French runaround rather than the RX8. Watched plenty of YouTube vids to get an idea what to do and set to work this morning.
It seems to have worked okay but TBH I am not bowled over by it. I might have another go on Mrs Smutty's car (she STILL hasn't hoovered the...
Good afternoon fellow wanklers. What i need some advice and suggestions on, is the following. I am a complete novice on this subject,so i will explain what i am trying to achieve. I have several cars that could do with a good mopping to get rid of years of road grime, oxidisation and general...
Slightly off-topic here but I'm looking for a quality polish that I can use on solar panels, so that at least some of the muck will wash off with the rain and maybe the bird crap and tree sap might not stick so hard.
There's a lot of products out there that appear to be suitable but most include a...
Some Interesting New Megs Products announced at SEMA this week for 2020.
Will be looking at trying out some of these when released
More detail
But at a very top level they are releasing :
Meguiar's M27 PRO Hybrid Ceramic Sealant
Meguiar's Detailer RTU - Non-Acid Wheel & Tire Cleaner
Meguiar's...
I was driving home this evening and turned towards the setting sun, at which point I may as well have run in to a bank of fog as far as my forward visibility was concerned.
My usual tendency would be to wipe the inside of the windscreen with a dry microfibre cloth, but I figured I'd consult you...
I am thinking about giving the manky bay of my 8 a clean. Literally never bothered doing this before so I have no idea...
Other than covering the obvious like oil filler, dipstick, electrical boxes (a list of which ones to cover would be great so I don't miss them), what should/shouldn't I do when...
Just a note to say don't use armourall headlight restorer wipes - looked OK when it was wet, but the results when dry are much worse than they were before!
So, I've given the old google/youtube a look. Asked a couple of showy car type people what they would do. And the consensus is to wash the car, decontam, polish/fix scratches and then seal/wax.
Seems pretty simple. But I'm not 100% on what I should do for the polish/fix scratches step (probably...
Does anyone know of a good dent man !!
ONLY some kind person has opened there door with such force that its put a nice dent along the crease of my back door (Not Happy )
Need someone close to me in either berkshire or Oxfordshire:(
I've been testing the new Ultra-Clear Headlight Restoration Kit from Surf City Garage , on the headlights of my Rex.
While I've see worse examples, the headlight lenses have been one thing that has so far let the side down when the rest of the car is clean and polished. They've suffered from...
Good morning all
Dropped a b*****k Monday spilled some Motul 300 gearbox oil on my boot mat in my 350z :crybaby: :crybaby: .So far I've tried Bilt& hamber degreaser, TFR, hot water & fairy, even tried petrol yesterday. Not to bothered about the stain if I could get rid of the smell as I don't have...
Anybody use one...and what do you recommend as looking at getting one but not sure which one to go for?
Have been looking at the DeWalt as it has good reviews...but also like the flex model also but more pricey :-k
So you're going to a car show but you can't wash, wax and polish it that morning, or maybe even the day before. So it's been sat for a day (or two) after detailing but before the show and has got a bit dusty, even in the garage. Maybe you even had to drive it a bit on the day in between the...
I haven't washed the car for 10 years +.
I wipe it down after a drive with a damp glove mitten and that's it. The wheels have a quick rince and wiped dry. I'm guessing with corssion issues it should prolong its life.
hey lads and ladies. What is the best way of getting stickers off cars. as when i got my celica it has stickers plastered on the driver side front and passenger side rear and they are fugly. Any help would be great
Just received an email from Autobrite Direct. Apparently they are having a big easter sale running 29.03.2018 - 03.04.2018 with upto 70%
Says they only have 2x sales a year, this one and one at Christmas so might be worth I look if, like me, you are needing to top up on detailing goodness.
I booked my car in last week for its first detail since my re spray over at Auto Detail.
I had the Enhancement Detail which included a 20 stage wash, clay bar, machine polish to remove any paint defects and then some protection (I may have forgotten something I have slept since then).
I'm trying to get my car looking as good as possible, ideally before Beaulieu next weekend and was just wondering if anyone has any tips for removing carbon from the exhaust tips? I expect to be using Autosol to polish them up but would prefer as much of the carbon gone before I begin that....
Picked up an R3 in Nov and must have been kept under trees / out of sunlight as the rear lights (and the front to an extent) had algae build-up all along the edges. I took the rear units out today and set to work;
I started with a paintbrush, then switched to a toothbrush but the algae was all...
My last large sized EZ detail brush broke after a couple of years use. These cost nearly £30 so not too happy. The failure was where the twisted wire jointed the handle so I think it is unrecoverable and only fit for the bin. Not sure I want to buy another of the same brand.
Hi all.
My drivers mat was slipping around in my new purchase RX8. Finding the mat had an eye but no fixing, I bought some fixings similar to the ones I bought for my previous car which worked very well.
I must of bought from a different seller as the first purchase turned up very quickly, the...
Back when I bought my car the original paint was pretty rough and I decided to have it resprayed by a shop recommended to me by other RX-7 enthusiasts. At the time all I wanted was a simple respray to bring the exterior back to life but unfortunately the respray was a disaster (I won't get...
I have recently bought an RX8 and the plastic on the lower part of the rear bumper that is around the exhaust finishers has gone very grey. The centre part of the lower bumper is still black so the grey bits stand out a mile.
I have tried Simonez Back to Black gel as well as spray and...
I've only had my car a little while and I have a small problem where the entire car is covered in little black dots, and I mean a lot of them. You can only see it on close inspection but if your in this section my guess it would annoy you as much as it does me. My question is what do you think is...
With the autumn/winter weather now showing itself, I've had a thought which may be totally stupid but worth an ask if only to get flamed ;) When you come home in your car to put it in the garage, and it's raining, is there any way of removing the water on the body before putting it inside...
