This forum has been created so that club members can post up their modified car, with photo's, and show off the changes. It is one place to look for most if not all of the different kinds of modifications that you can do to your car, inspire you to start modifying, and put you in touch with those...
im going to use this thread to showcase some of the more interesting work completed by Kernow Rotary Specialist..
my first customer arrived today after sadly having his car fail its mot. the computer showed a apv solenoid circuit fault and a bank 2 o2 sensor circuit fault. the apv was not...
As most of you know the ASBO that is Flos is now a full bridgeport turbocharged monster 😏 few little bits of fettling to do cosmetically, handbrake and possibly rear calipers to sort. The plan now is to go with a haltec ECU as the OEM one simply can't cope with what I want to do 😔 currently out of...
Essex rotary are selling smoked R3 rear lights
Does anyone know if I can switch out my rear lights on my S1 without wiring problems
Are they plug and play or do I need to modify the connectors or wiring ?
Also, are smoked rear lights legal ?
Any feedback is gratefully received
Cheers
Ever since getting back into RX-8 ownership with the purchase of my panic buy shed RX-8, I have fancied the idea of getting a great condition, lower mileage, ideally special edition car, which I could take a bit more pride in. Don’t get me wrong, the last car was brilliant, and having got the track...
Well, as some of you may know - i've gone and got myself a banana RX-8! :yeah: :beers:
Today was the day of the pickup so nipped down to Stafford to sort a few bits out beforehand, and the transporter brought it back up! Got my work cut out for me over winter, it's in need of a full interior,...
So then gents
I have an ex development Cosworth FA20 supercharger kit that I have been modifying the bejesus out of to get it to fit the Renesis in my Rx8
I've been slowly getting this setup together over the last year and while I'm not finished thought I'd put some photo's up so I can pick...
Thought I’d put a little thread together showing the custom headlights I’ve been building.
Currently awaiting new Bi-LED projectors to replace the factory xenon due to a ballast failure
Will post some pictures from when I first started and update when the new projectors arrive
doobeedoobedo was in the process of converting it to a EV drivetrain out of a nissan leaf. unfortunately life got in the way and he got no further that mocking up the ev motor and sorting out some of the transmission.
So 5 months in and had my first worrying moment at the weekend.
Short drive engine not quite up to temperature, but still warm when I stopped. Came back about an hour later and took an unusually long crank to get her to start.
Probably 10 to 15 seconds.
I think to say that chucking myself in the deep end here is an understatement, but with the help from this forum and the specialists, and even my mates, I think I have a fighting chance of making this car even more special.
I have just bought a 2003 231psi rx-8 in velocity red. Just...
So………..I’ve had the car for a few weeks and have poked around it enough to have a fairly good idea of what it’s about and thought it would be good fun to document the journey of discovery here.
I’d like to say I purchased it because of the excellent compression test results and extensive...
After 10 months of ownership I think it's about time I started a thread to help me keep track of the work done, better late than never!
I finally think I decided on the name Winter for my 8
So I had an interest in the RX8 for about 3 years after seeing an aurora blue one parked...
So after jacking the RX8 up today I can see why the seller was happy to take £1500.*
Driver's side sill is rotten. There was a fair bit of filler and it was only when the weight of the car was on the jack that it became apparent it was more than just a bit scabby. Passenger side seems solid enough...
So i posted in the hello im new here thread but, I do want to post what i do to my car/service as a means to log things and changes that are made even the small things.
Now while i've managed to basically do no work on cars apart from a tyre change, fluid top ups, and a windscreen resin...
Right, so, as I seem to be collecting RX8s and amalgamating them in to one super-red-beasty, I figured I may as well start a project thread... Bit late and all that, but hey ho.
I'll put in some details and basics today and will try to update bits and pieces as and when they happen.
Evening all :)
Finally have my 8 running with no issues so no more mechanical bits (for now) and I can focus on the bodywork. Currently Velocity Red but with a bit of surface rust on the rear arches and a pretty chippy bonnet. The rust should be good once sanded down and treated but the problem...
Quite a few know by now what I will be building for next season's Nippon Challenge Super GT class so I took delivery of an RX-8 rolling shell from Steve D that’s gone straight into the paint shop I thought we would get a build thread up n running.
Thought I’d do a second thread for these series 1 headlights
The goal:
Fully plug and play series 1 custom headlights
2x dedicated high beams, 1.5” projectors
1x Bi-LED projector to replace factory xenon
RGB LED DRL strips with integrated sequential indicator
Here goes, my original intention was to only fix the broken things on my Rex, followed by any essential maintenance, absolutely no mods. Then I joined this owners club, and that was that, next thing you know I'm sporting Eibach lowered springs, and buying RR coils  . So the new plan...
The car is a 2004 Titanium Grey 231, it has only just reached 50,000 miles and had full Mazda service history. It is totally original with only a Parrot hands free kit fitted by a previous owner. I purchased the car in November 2011 and it has been an amazing car up until about a month ago when it...
My oldest daughter turns 19 in 4 weeks and has her driving test in 7. It's therefore time for her first car 😱
Being my child she was never going to be happy with a fiesta/corsa/normal 1st car. So after a little looking this little (slightly worse for wear) beauty arrived...
Following on from my disassembly of a few engines here & here , I thought I might aswell make an actual thread for all my engine disassembly-ness, and hey - maybe in future i'll make one for when I decide to do the reverse and actually assemble one for a change
Looking into upgrading my exhaust system on my 40th to something a bit chunkier, nice tips and sounds nice, but not too noisy, anyone got any suggestions on type, trader for supply and fit, etc.?
Just thought I’d put together a thread on the progress of my Mx5 to document the progress so far.
I bought this as a cheap project to see me by when the Rx8 is broken every other few months
So straight away I welded new front chassis rails in and some other small bits of welding that was...
So here's the back story....... back in March I discovered that both my rear springs had snapped on my R3. I had always planned, when it was time to replace them, i would upgrade them for Tein monosport.
My R3 is the only car I own and is only really used on weekends or...
This is a little project I've been working on in my free time. I wanted actual gauges that work (not the fake ones on the cluster  ) but I like to keep my car "OEM+". Which means I don't really want big gauges everywhere, so I set to work.
My idea came from other gauges you see that replace...
So, you wanna know what an Android unit in your dash is like, eh? well make a brew and buckle up for a long read with (sadly) not too many pictures in it - this is in progress :)
This is a full in-depth review of my unit and not an installation guide - I will be doing a DIY for the installation...
The opportunity has come round for me to buy back my first Mazda RX-8, which was also my first car, my 192 affectionately called "Punchy". I sold the car shortly before lockdown to a friend of mine in Lancashire who has proceeded to blow up the original 51k miles engine, then hydro lock...
Boys and girls,i present you with Danielle!
I have picked her up yesterday from a fellow enthusiast, she is quite clean but does need some work.
Her purpose is to get ready to serve me in the near future for all my track events.
The car is a 2004 231 model, had an engine done at RR few years back and...
After approaching 13 years of ownership my 40th is being delivered to Josh @ Black Star Motorsport tomorrow for an engine rebuild.
I had previously approached Rotary Revs and Ryan Rotary Performance regarding a rebuild. Revs didn’t seem bothered & Ryan Rotary were booked up for about 8 months. I...
Hi guys!
I am working on a project which is at the drawing board stage at the moment.
The car will be Velocity Red with the aero kit (front lip, skirts, spats and splash guards),wheels, strakes and badges will be done in pearl white.
Now i am not sure what to do about the black diffuser as i am...
My last train journey was probably back in 2006 and boy have trains changed since then. Quiet running with no clackety clacking wheels, electronic information signs and red lights for reserved seats or green lights for free. Plus it also ran on time, well it was 5 minutes late!
The reason for the...

So after a lot of to ing and fro ing we have found the best low tax body shell we could find. Firstly, we would like to thank the seller for a seemless transaction, and Paul AV for giving it the once over before buying.
Rust?,what rust? ,...
A re-introduction of sorts, but more than anything I finally wanted to show off my, in my opinion, beautiful example of an RX8!
After 2 years of saving, set backs, seeing examples I wanted come and go, I finally found the one. It is literally the example I've been looking for all these...
