As you may have read, we are planning on doing a regular Car Of The Month feature for every month through 2022 (and potentially beyond!). This is where all you lovely people can post up your cars for consideration! As with all things...
As you will no doubt be aware, your committee has been working tirelessly in the background getting some glorious things tee'd up and planned for 2022. The events team has a fantastic thread which has been set up ( to detail all of the events and potential plans for...
This forum has been created so that club members can post up their modified car, with photo's, and show off the changes. It is one place to look for most if not all of the different kinds of modifications that you can do to your car, inspire you to start modifying, and put you in touch with those...
Though I might as well start a topic for this and hopefully it might encourage me to post some pictures of the things I will hopefully do to my new RX8.
I say new, I've owned it about a month now. It's 397/400 of the 40th Anniversary editions. Has been owned my one, possibly two, club members over...
P1120330.JPG P1120329.JPG P1120328.JPG In the early hours of Sunday 1st March Nigel and I were exchanging texts with Ranjan in New York about his troubled car and the outcome was that he generously gave the car to me!
RR54 is standard aside from a rebuilt bridgeported engine with possible issues,...
Hello
I went and bought a 2007 Mazda rx8 192 in black with a bad engine. I trailered it home on Wednesday evening and rolled it in to the garage,Friday evening I did a compression test and not good, compression ok on the front rotor and none on the rear,so I pulled the engine and there is 2mm of end...
So, having had a long standing rotary itch and a wish to start hillclimbing this year, last summer I got hold of my 1st RX8 and so far it's been great. Fresh engine build just before I got it and tatty enough not to be too upset if/when it has an argument with something solid.
So, after having settled on keeping the 192 then discovering sorting the bodywork out properly would be prohibitively expensive, an '09 R3 came up at a bargain price of 3.5k.
After driving it home tonight I've discovered that there are definitely some rough edges to smooth out, unsurprisingly:
Evening all :)
Finally have my 8 running with no issues so no more mechanical bits (for now) and I can focus on the bodywork. Currently Velocity Red but with a bit of surface rust on the rear arches and a pretty chippy bonnet. The rust should be good once sanded down and treated but the problem...
It's a start
She was put on a SORN this morning, which makes me very sad🤧 the thought of not driving her😪 may be able to get everything sorted by the new year, although still got to stump up for Gaskets, Engine Mounts and Hoses.
Hi - My name is Martin White and I have inherited my late brothers RX-8 which he had from new. He had it imported.
IMG_1061.JPG
It's been sat for just over 18 months without being used and has now been delivered to me. It doesn't start and I have just started to investigate. I am happy around...
After 10 months of ownership I think it's about time I started a thread to help me keep track of the work done, better late than never!
I finally think I decided on the name Winter for my 8
So I had an interest in the RX8 for about 3 years after seeing an aurora blue one parked...
So then gents
I have an ex development Cosworth FA20 supercharger kit that I have been modifying the bejesus out of to get it to fit the Renesis in my Rx8
I've been slowly getting this setup together over the last year and while I'm not finished thought I'd put some photo's up so I can pick...
Right, so, as I seem to be collecting RX8s and amalgamating them in to one super-red-beasty, I figured I may as well start a project thread... Bit late and all that, but hey ho.
I'll put in some details and basics today and will try to update bits and pieces as and when they happen.
Quite a few know by now what I will be building for next season's Nippon Challenge Super GT class so I took delivery of an RX-8 rolling shell from Steve D that’s gone straight into the paint shop I thought we would get a build thread up n running.
Many know I raced various tin tops for many years...
Hey all :)
So things are finally feeling like some kind of new normal. Through the past few years, I've buried my head in work and my own little project. I little while back I finally bit the bullet and bought this little beauty :)
I've had a full rebuild by Mick Hurley at Hurley Rotary in...
Here goes, my original intention was to only fix the broken things on my Rex, followed by any essential maintenance, absolutely no mods. Then I joined this owners club, and that was that, next thing you know I'm sporting Eibach lowered springs, and buying RR coils  . So the new plan...
Ever since getting back into RX-8 ownership with the purchase of my panic buy shed RX-8, I have fancied the idea of getting a great condition, lower mileage, ideally special edition car, which I could take a bit more pride in. Don’t get me wrong, the last car was brilliant, and having got the track...
So I decided I would start a project thread for the recent purchase we (myself and my step Father) made. Some of you may be familiar with the £500 Nemesis that was listed in the for sale section recently. Well, it landed at our doorstep last night around 9pm. Its a lovely...
So………..I’ve had the car for a few weeks and have poked around it enough to have a fairly good idea of what it’s about and thought it would be good fun to document the journey of discovery here.
I’d like to say I purchased it because of the excellent compression test results and extensive...
So 5 months in and had my first worrying moment at the weekend.
Short drive engine not quite up to temperature, but still warm when I stopped. Came back about an hour later and took an unusually long crank to get her to start.
Probably 10 to 15 seconds.
So I figured after a year of ownership it was finally time to make one of these. Although my car was only on the road from April until November last year it was thoroughly enjoyed during that time. (And the reason why its been off the road since november will become very apparent.) Purchased with...
Picked up this 53 plate 231 yesterday; about to roll onto 100,000 miles!
-93igsa.jpg
It has been used as a drift car over the past few years, being trailered to and from events. As such, it's come with a welded diff, steering lock angle kit, coilovers, Mintex discs & pads all around and a full...
Basically, it was a very good price and the rising prices of 8's sort of forced my hand... I was holding out for either a dead clean 231 or a nice R3. I did always consider a PZ but most I'd seen weren't exactly clean and most of them end up being...
I thought I would start a thread just to keep a record of the life of my RX8. This is my second one. My first had oil coolant line corrosion which was not cost effective to repair so I've kept it for spares however it lasted me until over 90,000 miles which wasn't too bad!
I've had this 231 for...
So here's the back story....... back in March I discovered that both my rear springs had snapped on my R3. I had always planned, when it was time to replace them, i would upgrade them for Tein monosport.
My R3 is the only car I own and is only really used on weekends or...
This thread started out as a post to What have you done to your RX-8 today? , specifically for this:
Got it compression tested by a local with a TR-01 v2, but I'm not sure I'm normalising the results correctly as I keep getting back 7.1-7.3 across all six faces, however when tested last July by...
I'll start with how I came to own the car and then update the thread as I work my way through the car to bring it back to life.
A friend bought a nice looking one-owner RX8 192 about 7 years ago and I'd always quite liked the look of it. When I caught up with him recently he mentioned it hadn't...
good morning all,i thought i would start my own thread here, as i can keep track of my ownership of these truly gorgeous cars.
i am fortunate enough to own 2 of these wonderful kuro's ,and just as importantly ,covered space to both work on them and keep them dry.
the one in the pics is kuro 1...
I'm really sorry for the title, I couldn't resist.
Well, here I go. I picked up my first RX8 last Monday and am loving every minute of owning it so far. Other than it obviously having something up with the front suspension, on inspection it seemed in good mechanical condition and for the price I...
I'm pretty sh*t with cars. Only been driving 4 months, previous car was a Mini R50 that kinda went to sh*t. I tried to work on it a little, managed to do a coolant change but even that went wrong when I couldnt get the clamp back on the bottom radiator hose so I ziptied it instead and they...
Decided to write this one up, mainly because I think it’s probably one of the coolest PZ I’ve seen but also because I still think it’s on the originally engine and I find that really interesting !
So the basics:
Not so brilliant black 56 plate PZ
Full Mazda service history, all at TW whites...
Hello all,
I am a long term Alfa Romeo enthusiast and a current Alfa Giulia owner looking to buy an older but well maintained RX8 with low miles or rebuilt engine with good compression with or without mods. This will be a second fun car but I will also use it as a daily to commute 20 miles each way...
So, you wanna know what an Android unit in your dash is like, eh? well make a brew and buckle up for a long read with (sadly) not too many pictures in it - this is in progress :)
This is a full in-depth review of my unit and not an installation guide - I will be doing a DIY for the installation...
After having had a pretty smooth 18 months of ownership it's time to start fixing some of the little issues/niggles around the car, bring it back to it's prime and start taking it to some track days.
Start off with a little bit of history, after the fortunate uneconomical repair bill for my old...
So I have taken a punt for £150 on an engine that has sat op under a bench for circa two years. It turns easily and there are compression “ pulses” from the plugs holes but also it’s grating slightly so I think that circa two years with open plug holes may have resulted in some rusted internals....
Since I still have to wait another two weeks to have the car registered on our roads, I did some preventive maintenance on it. Started with coils, leads and plugs.
The plugs I took out looked in good shape, so will keep as spares. Coils were a mixed-and-match with two different serial numbers and...
Project thread for my new 8 that is picking up where the old one left off after I ran that into a wall at Fuji Speedway 2013/10/30 (more on that trusty vehicle in my old project thread here:
At first I was a bit at loss to what car to get, especially seeing that prices on late RX-8s had...
I did all my research - coils, hot start, compression tests, comprehensive service history, rust, don't buy the first one you see etc etc.
So I got a message from a friend of mine saying he knows someone selling a non-runner near me for cheap - not really that interested in buying a dead car and...
Hi
I have decided to build a pit in my garage,I had a couple of days off work this week so I hired myself a digger and set to digging the hole it was a tight fit operating the digger in the garage but I got it done the only problem was max under dig of the digger was 1.65 meters and I needed 1.85...
Yes, some of you read it right, I began looking for a replacement, and yesterday I found her. And drove her home.
IMG_3123.jpg
I've not taken any pics of my own yet, they will follow. There are a few minor things to work on, and now that I have a new start, I can finally have the...
The plan is to build a 400+hp car using the renesis engine.
As some of you are probably I have purchase Graham's old track car with Peripheral intake and Exhaust ports in the engine as well as a host of other mods.
I already have a NOS kit with plates and controller...
So I think its about time I posted a thread about this car.
A very brief history:
Just over four years ago, Malcolm (casey) agreed the purchase this RX-7 from someone who had contacted him via the Mazda Rotary Club. It had been off the road for about ten years and we knew from the previous owner...
