Re: Opinion on PZ compression test results

He had it up for £2200 before he got the compression test, so would offer less than that considering the risks. Hopefully the new ignition will just help maintain the car at the current state for a while. I'm not expecting a miracle after my last buy, but hopefully will last a bit longer before a re...

Re: Opinion on PZ compression test results

Yeah, had a VSR when comp tested recently with no major issues. Just a tired engine mount and brake pipes corroded. I've got a spare cat and new coils as well to fit onto it.

May fire an offer to him, see how it goes. If it's cheap enough I'll take a chance. Cheers.

Re: Opinion on PZ compression test results

yeah, that's what I assumed. Just wondering whether it'd be worth taking a risk considering I have new ignition to put on her.

Opinion on PZ compression test results

Hi all, Still looking for a good engine (or car) for my 8. Came across a PZ recently, went to see it and it had a slight miss, but has a recent compression test (results in pic). I know they're not the best results was wondering what people thought it'd be like if I put my new RRP MK2 coils and new ...

Re: The search for a working engine

Yeah, could do. Think it's going to go for more than I'd like to pay for a cat s though. Found another PZ 20 mins from me so going to look at that tomorrow night. He said he's looking to get a compression test done so if I'm happy with the car, may go halves with him for a comp test as he is 5 minut...

Re: The search for a working engine

Joe, you will probably find yourself bidding against some one who wants a pz,and not just an engine.have you tried big pete on here. Did try bigpete when my engine first failed to no avail. Will check again soon. Was hoping that with it being a cat s, there would be less interest anyway. Just a tho...

Re: The search for a working engine

Without a comp test it's a bit of a risk. Also depending on the angle of the impact to the car its also a risk. As rotary engines don't deal well with direct frontal or rear collisions! Though if the engine had taken a shunt I doubt it would be running happily. I think it's a risk I'll have to take...

The search for a working engine

Hi all, Currently looking for a working engine for my shell. Had a look at a car today, was a PZ version (eBay auction). The car is a cat s write off and was bought by the mechanic I spoke to today, he said he bought the car for the engine and gearbox for a chevette he was swapping it into, but he's...

Yeah, even bought a new uprated one to replace the old one. When the comp test was done, he said it was turning over well.

Did charge the battery and it was a new Exide battery so I doubt that was the issue. Cheers.

Re: Black box damage?

Ah, right I see. Did look very intrusive when he was doing it as he had a lot of the plastic off around the fuse box and was soldering. Was just a thought. Hopefully will be able to get mine rebuilt soon. It's in the garage now about to be inspected for damage so [emoji1696]. Cheers again. Sent from...

Black box damage?

Hi all, Just been thinking about when I bought my 8. Didn't get a comp test, but started hot and cold great and pulled good. It was sat on the drive for a couple of months whilst I finished my insurance on my old car (was a 1st year driver then), and got a policy with Hastings smartmiles for £1400 w...

Ah, I see. Wasn't sure whether it was beneath the top layer or not. It seems pretty new anyway. Think it was changed about 2 years ago. Cheers

Best way to check a cat?

Hi all. After waiting for what seems a lifetime, the engine I took out of my car is finally with Dwayne from Silver Fern Performance. He's going to inspect for damage and we'll take it from there, hopefully won't be completely fubar but who knows. After dropping the engine off, he did recommend I ch...

Re: Rebuild (self-removal advise).

Mine started to fail about a month before lockdown started. My plan was to remove the engine myself (done during lockdown), and now I'm waiting for my mechanic to reopen again for him to do the rebuild. If all goes to plan, I'd like him to rebuild and refit the engine as if I have problems in the fu...

Re: RX-8 office chair... Am I mad?!

After looking at the owner manual, it says the heated seat fuse is 20a rated. Would that be a max of 10A per seat then or is it more complicated than that? I assume it'd be a bit less than 10a each?

Re: RX-8 office chair... Am I mad?!

its fused at 25amps iirc, so without doing the maths my guess would be a 15amp constant draw per seat. Right, didn't realise it would be that much, good job you said! Not sure whether you can get an upscaler for amps? May be better off buying a 15amp psu you think? Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapata...

Re: RX-8 office chair... Am I mad?!

Think I've found a good seat online from an evolve. I'll go for the passenger seat as it may be slightly lighter than the driver and I don't need the electrical adjustment. Now, onto the power for the seat. I have an old laptop charger which outputs 19v 3.42a. my question is will the seat just pull...

I'm sitting in mine now, having made it 7 years (or so) ago. A few tips... - The cloth seats are much lighter, don't have all that motor gubins and don't get so sweaty. = You need a base that's lower than you'd think, even with a cloth seat - REMOVE THE SIDE AIRBAG P6291632.jpg P6291634.jpg P629163...

RX-8 office chair... Am I mad?!

So, with the boredom of isolation hitting me hard, I had a thought yesterday. My 8 is awaiting a new engine and hopefully will get one after the world returns to normal! But I could do with replacing my old office chair and remember seeing a single driver seat at my local scrappy last time I was the...
