Re: Honkytonk's Black P-Shed

I use auto finesse snow foam and shampoo. Pretty sure the wax I had on lasted up to 4 months. Would wash the car every two weeks on average. So who knows. I'm tempted to try Nippon Shine either light or dark. Not too pricey and gets good reviews.

Re: Honkytonk's Black P-Shed

I did treat her to a quick clean (45m as opposed to my usual 2-4 hour spruce because it's still winter and it's just going to get filthy again) last weekend as it was absolutely disgusting, and was pleasantly surprised to find my wax from last year is still holding up! Shockingly, it actually DOES ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Ahah. When I told my mum I was going to do it she just said "Why not do it outside like in one of the sheds". Ah yes... One of the sheds that has absolutely 0 work level benches in it... Or the other one that has aspestos roof literally crumbling everywhere... She probably won't even notice a differ...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Took a bit of time to properly inspect my spare set of callipers. Removed slide pins and such. Cleaned them up with brake cleaner and put everything back together. For some reason the drivers front calliper is still a tad sticky compared to the other very free moving slide pins. Going to guess there...

That isolator needs more cable ties so its JDM. Looks absolutely awesome though Paul! Top job. ;D I'll make sure to use this as a guide for when I do mine soon (weather permitting)

I'm going to use cataclean should I fill up the tank before without adding oil?
There are instructions on the packaging. However, it says to put it in with a 1/4 of a tank and empty that before refilling.

Yeah. Only really want to hit the edges of the disc and the centre. Don't want brake pads contiminated.

Re: new disks and pads

Thats what I was thinking Dave. Considering just getting some decent enough road brakes on the car to pass the MOT along with a cat so I can take it south with me.

I should really go and find the pricing on standard discs to compare to MTEC ones.

Do check you're getting the right size for front and rear (top of head 343mm and 303mm ??)
323mm fronts Alan.

Ranjan once told me not to worry so much about what discs I have on. But rather get decent enough ones and top quality pads.

Re: new disks and pads

I've seen MTEC on ebay that offer corrosion proofing/uv protective coatings on their discs. Im probably going to get them when I put the car back on the road as the price isn't quite Black diamond level. Im sure I read a couple of people have used them before.

I've got next week off work so weather permitting my plans are to clean my spare callipers up and clean up my better pair of headlights before taking the set on the car off the car to dismantle/tinker with.

Re: Headlight Customisation

I would go purple but the cars obviously currently VR still... Future plans down the line to have it sprayed Midnight Purple 2. (Because ooft) But it'd look odd having purple headlights right now. Might go gun metal or maybe black. I'll have the second set for doing other things with anyway. :p

Damn... Definitely going to do this to the set of headlights I take off the car and clean up. I would love some Halo's but I don't think there are any in a convinient RX8 size. :(

Surprised no-one asked why Nigel requires a panoramic blind spot mirror... I can guarantee that it's not for its intended usage.
