I believe Howard was looking to produce a number plate holder and possibly a rear crest, but I'm not 100% sure. Got my strakes 4 weeks ago and ordered my crest on Monday so just waiting on it arriving! Mark I had been going to photograph/review the plate lowering kit, but nothing seems to have happ...

I haven't heard from Howard in ages, though he is selling the strakes on eBay still I think.

Shame; he had a plate lowering kit that I was going to photograph and write up, but it appears to have been abandoned or something - never heard another thing about it!

I hope nothing happened to him.

I'm sure I'm in da club now but not able to prove it yet - too chicken to push it all the way. The odo goes to about 270 miles with slightly less than a 1/4 tank left. Can I join the club then ? :D Mine hits the orange light very soon after that; I reckon 300 miles is more than possible, but the be...

Spotteds: WB in Middlesbro (53 plater, IIRC, probably the same one I saw in April!) - beeped at it as I went past on Friday. Black one heading towards me somewhere between Whitby and Essex (I was distracted, so didn't wave), and a grey one and a red Evolve on the M11 Southbound (I was Northbound). P...

IIRC Yellow was only offered for the first year (this appears to be traditional for Mazda, but MX5s appear to demonstrate otherwise!), so 53 and 04 reg cars would be available Yellow. The Nordic was on offer until 06 I think - certainly was on the website when I ordered my car, which is in the 2006 ...

My idea of Fancy Parking was to belt into Kelso Square (cobbles) and annoy the boy racers by parking the X1/9 "Montego" style - nose in, handbrake the back end in, as demonstrated by (I think) Russ Smith (whoever, BL/Austin Rover's Stunt Driver, does demos at Gaydon) in the Montego 1.6LX adverts fro...

Well, it IS quite effective as a chemical weapon - most of these things can exacerbate athsma and related conditions.

I won't have this crap in the house, let alone the car, and if I find them in hotel rooms, I throw them out.

Of all the radiators, its the aircon heat exchanger located behind the lower slot in front of the water radiator, which is the most fragile, and very expensive. So it actually more important to protect that area than the oil coolers which are as tough as old boots (no known failures so far). The pr...

Winning Blue and Velocity Red in Middlesbro today, red Evolve (not a club member) in Whitby Flowergate t'other day - chatted to the owner - he'd come from a Ford Galaxy and seemed surprised that the oil checking was something to be treated religiously, at least when getting used to the car. Saturday - red Evolve going around one of the roundabouts I think in Edinburgh (I forget where I saw it, probably near the Gyle).

And then today, red Evolve (I've forgotten the proper colour name - I'm assuming these were Evolves in that colour) going through Selkirk.

Greys, greys everywhere.

One going towards Galashiels on the A7 with their foglights on.

At least one salt-caked 53 plater in Greenside car park in Edinburgh, plus a black one with a private plate. Mine was equally salt-caked after the drive.

Another grey driving through Edinburgh.

Re: It is a lowered plate holder

Hi all, it is a lowered plate holder and it fits exactly where the front crest goes, it makes the car look far more aggressive but does reduce airflow to the rads, I ran it on my car in the summer and the fan came on a lot more often than without but I had no probs. Sold my car at Christmas as the ...

Re: Sold 790 sets of strakes and 300 front crests

I can not believe how many sets of strakes and crests have been sold, in the UK I have sold 377 sets of strakes and 190 front crests, the balance has been sold all over the world from Austrailia to USA. I have now sold out of crests and down to 10 sets of strakes. I need an RX8 owner to test my fro...

It looks like there are about 4 choices for connecting the iPod to the RX8 - I just replaced my 20Gb with a new 60Gb (music collection of over 600CDs - plus some random stuff - 37Gb in iTunes and it's hard to pick and choose!). Denison Ice>Link Plus - from what I can gather this allows steering whee...

My Sera - a 1989 Toyota 1.5 four cylinder - redlines at 7.5K. So the 190 doesn't feel 'special' to me in that regard.

Interesting choice for a first car... But, shop around. If you aren't fussed about leather some brokers have had the new cars for around £18K on a 190. Chrome bits... well, the Mazda parts like strakes and crest seem to have a reputation for not lasting well. They all have Bose sound systems. That's...
