Re: Engine Survey

Haha yes I've been explaining to my wife I need to drive it everywhere, shunning the very efficient CX3 so I can spend even more money on petrol once its run in.. Trying to convince work we need some parts changed at remote offices so I can claim some of the running in costs back :) I tell you what...

Re: Engine Survey

Changed vote, engine now rebuilt at 91k miles by RRP. Waiting to be fitted back into the car, from what Scott told me it was in spectacularly bad condition and he was surprised it started at all! "But I will drive 500 miles, And I will drive 500 more, To be the man, Who can rev his rex some more......

Re: RRP Engine Mounts - Now with Pure rubber bushings

So, when is the ETA on these new rubber bushings for mass production ? The recent RRP mounts on mine aren't as bad vibration wise as when I first got them, they've bedded in a bit, but I think I would still prefer slightly less NVH than I currently have. So the rubber bushings are looking like a goo...

Re: 300 Mile Club (S1 RX8s) or 325 mile club for S2 RX8s

i went for a blast round cornwall, then wales, then dartmoor to run mine in. :D Yeah, I did manage to go to near Cardiff and back for the first 300-400 miles which would have probably fell under the low load cruising no no but thankfully smart motorways and dufuses on the road made sure I was never...

Re: 300 Mile Club (S1 RX8s) or 325 mile club for S2 RX8s

6th all the way (in a stock RX8 anyway). You won't need to use 5th on any motorway in Britain, none of the hills are steep enough to trouble an 8 at 3,500 rpm. Not going to lie, it's boring as sin warbling along at 60, but still. That's 6 hours and 40 minutes of driving, for reference. I do hope yo...

Re: Engine Survey

Re-voted. Went for a rebuild in the end at 81K. One of my rotors was in the low 4s so despite no starting problems I thought it best not leave it too much longer. Plus I really wanted a streetport as well.... :)

Re: RX-8 takes a long time to get up the power band between 6-9k RPM?

I had a thing about a year or two ago where it was very slow from around 4K - 6K, then would whiz up like normal to the redline. Turned out to be my SSV sticking I think and it needed cleaning ? Not 100% sure.

Got the paperwork at home so will try to look at it over the weekend what it was.

Quick update, Went with RRP in the end. Heard only good things about them and so far I have to say the customer service has been fantastic. I am going for a street port along with a few other recommendations they advised. PM me if you want to know any more about reasons for my decision. Car is book...

Re: drive through wales.

I'll be at llandow racetrack near Cardiff on Sunday from around 12-6 if that's en route... the kart race track not the car one.

Time will be quite tight though so not sure if I can meet up to say hi.... and check out your car. Will be my cars first proper outing after its RRP rebuild.

Re: PZ Limited Edition Numbers, THE LIST

Late to the game, but from the licence plate I'm number 170. I've had it from new so can confirm the registration date.

Once I get the car back from its rebuild, I'll check the VIN.

Re: Body work on my RX-8 to make it look new again!

Yes, I did think about getting a full re-spray done but the cheapest quote I found from a reputable garage was at least £1,500 more than getting the individual panels that needed attention. resprayed. The core body is actually in decent condition although the newly resprayed panels will be blended ...

Re: Solar battery maintainer - Connect via OBD

The problem is usually mechanical in that the construction is bonded together so it's difficult/impossible to access the internal components without major damage. An additional external diode, in the lead, would prevent discharge but the forward voltage drop would limit the effectiveness of the cha...

Re: Solar battery maintainer - Connect via OBD

I have the very same AA solar charger for my track car so will be checking! Thanks for the heads up. Yes although I feel sheepish for not realising, if it helps others then at least my folly may have had some usefulness. Bear in mind I've had this charger for years and it's worked well so don't eve...
