Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

So now I got the brakes finished with for now etc and the spacers on, I could finally bolt the wheel back on and put the car on ground to finally see how it's all looks. There is bits of trim missing here and there as you will notice, but this is just because I'm still working on things, so it will ...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

Sunitrac tyres, too  ;) Terrible aren't they. Great if you want to go drifting, went side ways a couple of times without trying on a few roundabout. There is two of them and then the other two tyres are something else. Thing is, they was even missed match on each axle. I think this was clearl...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

I've actually already tried (and failed) once before. The front O/S bolt that holds the brace on sheared the captive nut from the subframe and I couldn't get the bolt out. Luckily it was still quite tight when it happened so nothing is loose. I tried swinging the brace round which would probably gi...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

Super job well done there! Will make a huge difference in keeping your 8 looking fresh =D> It can be a right pain whilst doing it and make you think is it really worth the hassle, but the end result always makes up for it. Your build makes me wanna start taking more parts off for a good going over,...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

Loving the attention to detail you're putting in - I painted the brake discs on my dads car and they still look brand new a year on :thumleft: I personally used the first method of painting my calipers on the PZ. I just gave each one a quick clean with some brake cleaner and a wire brush, then mask...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

Last part on my braking system for now, I got some new drill bits so I could enlarge the eye hole on the c-clips to fix the front braided lines to the wish bones. Also, more parts had started turning up being a set of Eibach Pro Spacers. I'm now feeling like I'm actually getting somewhere with it now.

Goobie....I dont suppose you took pics and could do a write up on painting the callipers could you....I'm a mechanical moron (my wife I'm sure would just say moron) and its something which I really want to do but I'm sure that I'd paint the wrong section or not have tools which are required etc. Hi...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

I then fitted my new clear coated Goodridge Braided Brake Lines and gave the whole system a good bleed through flushing out all the old fluid. Was really dirty looking, by looking at it, it properly was the same fluid from new. This really should be refresh every two years which goes a miss by a lot...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

Fitting time, it was pretty straight forward. I pre set them all so tension up and all matching and set about bolting them all on, then just nipped up all the nuts and bolts finger tight. I then used my hydraulic Jack with a block of wood and went round one by one jacking up each corner to compress ...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

So here wego, O.E. suspension off then dismantle as I need to reuse the top hats. Then new coilovers built up with the O.E. top mounts ready to be fitted. The eagle eye will notice, the bump stops on the front shocks have been chopped, so my car must of previously had lowering Spring kit fitted at s...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

More onto the styling side of things now. I wanted to lower the car, but couldn't make my mind up on how much and from previous experience, Spring kits can be a lotto with the stated drop and most of all I found never really sit the same height on each corner. So with this in mind I went with the co...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

My first job was to do a bit of rust control on the discs. So I masked them all up, made the central area I'm painting slightly wider to make sure I get proper coverage, so that once they are on and I've done a few braking stops, the pads will wear the over lap off and give a perfect clean line mini...

Re: G's S2 R3 C/W Refresh Build Thread.

Looking really good there, although not sure wrapping the exhaust is a good idea. Hi, yeah, already aware, thanks. Should be fun getting off whilst fitted. Next up, more parts had started turning up, renewing the brakes. Nothing to fancy as this is just a road car, no plans on tracking it etc. I we...

Re: Matt Lewis Braided Brake Hoses Don't Fit.

Goodridge Braided Brake lines do, I've just fitted a set on mine. Had to drill the hole on the C clip alittle bigger for the bolt to poke through that screws to the front wish bones, but I think that's the same with other kits. *Edit to add Link. I got mine from here. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3915...

Re: Carl's Pettit Project MKII

I was thinking of giving mine a go over to, they look like a right pain due to the shape. Are you going to replace the brake shields or just recoat them? You should renew the arch popper clips, only around £2.89p for a pack of ten delivered on eBay, really finishes it off. *edit to add ebay link. ht...
