Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

I had a guy delivering tiles to the neighbour’s house asking me about the wheels and showing me photos of his Supra. I’m glad I didn’t change them - I will get them refurbished next year though. I also had the guys at Pro-tyre making videos of the doors and the exhaust noise [emoji1787][emoji1787] I...

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

This morning was spent cleaning the car from top to bottom, including a ceramic coating product. The water spots were a bugger - I think I’ll invest in a car dryer. I’m now at Pro-Tyre getting the damaged front tyre replaced. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200901/7f00437200e7ef7aa72719cbc1a20642...

Re: So my engine died today

I can definitely see your point and I appreciate that it’s your livelihood that is under discussion. I have also run my own business and have taken online criticism personally so I can completely understand your position. Your discussion of points regarding the engine rebuild a few weeks/months ago...

So my engine died today

RRP, [ Edited ] Carl, I’m going to need a rebuild in a few months and your calm and professional response to criticism does wonders for your business in my eyes. There are not many craftsmen willing to put the time in to understanding and communicating with their customers in such a manner, especial...

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

Im enjoying this thread, like to see a good recovery story! What happened to the MS mirrors? I saw it was advertised with a full MS kit and the mirrors were in the picture but then they were gone in the next? They were removed by the owner before me. He said he changed them as they were too small a...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Reset the fuel trim after disconnecting the battery yesterday in order to mess about with the radio and then wondering why the car was stalling when the clutch is depressed. All sorted now.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Removed a parrot hands-free kit, fitted a GROM USB3 unit and cleaned the adhesive off the rear glass from the tint removal. I also had a mechanic inspect the tyre to confirm that the damage on the driver side front is old. I have also ordered a new tyre for fitting on Tuesday. https://uploads.tapata...

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

It’s really good news! A new tyre is only £120 fitted, where as getting the bodywork jigged about and resetting could end up costing a small fortune (that I’m saving for the rebuild). I have just fitted the GROM unit, removed the parrot unit and cleaned all the adhesive from the glass so a few small...

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

A trip to my local trusted garage suggests that the tyre damage is old and there is no clashing right now. I’ll replace the tyre on Tuesday and see how we go from there. I’ve arranged for the sill to be sorted while I am away too. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200828/88db54f415e24c48376f23054b8...

New member looking for a tidy RX8

It’s not my place to defend someone else’s asking price, but I’m over £5000 in to my car and it’s worse than the one advertised. If Felix has been available at the same time, I’d have bought it. I think the extra value comes from the documentation and the engine rebuild - it’s not something you get ...

Re: New member looking for a tidy RX8

The cost of a basic rust free shell, with a top engine rebuild puts it up there, in my opinion. There are £2.5k cars out there with no history and no rebuild. This is so well documented that I think it’s got to be worth somewhere between £3.5 and £5k?

Re: New member looking for a tidy RX8

Felix is for sale right now, if I was going to buy another RX8, I’d buy that one!

He’s just listed it on the Facebook pages too so I doubt it’ll be around for long.

Watch the videos on youtube and then buy it!!

It’s pretty low. I am going to raise the ride height tomorrow, then, If there are still issues, remove the front wheel spacers.

My tyre has been fouling the wheel arch, it seems.

Filled the tank for the first time since picking it up from Chris... what a joy to drive. The ASBO-exhaust is a lot of fun when off the driveway and away from neighbours :)

Braaaaaaap!

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

Re: residue on the rear window - have you tried IPA (isopropyl alcohol rather than IPA), or a citrus oil? I'd hesitantly also suggest a careful wipe with WD40. All of the above have been good at removing sticky residue for me at various times. I haven’t used WD40 yet as I’m worried it’ll stink. I’v...

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

It’s in from engine start up, so I would agree if it wasn’t for this. Also, it came on during a dry day but after a clean, which is why I think something is getting wet.

Re: LC05VRY - 2005 Strato Blue 231

I’ve got some lights making an appearance on the dash but at this time I don’t have a code reader to find out what they actually mean. I’ll get one ordered, but In the mean time, I’ve got the traction control light and abs warning lights illuminated. They’re intermittent and appear to be related to ...

Bonnet Adjustment

It had a set of bonnet raisers on purchase but these have been removed. Potentially the raisers concealed a poorly fitted / manufactured bonnet but I’ll find out more when I have bought another spanner. My 1/2inch driver is missing too. Ffs.

Bonnet Adjustment

I’ve got a carbon fibre bonnet fitted and the gaps are all over the place. I’ve taken a look today and there isn’t a whole lot of adjustment on the bonnet side of the hinge. Is there any play on the car side of the hinge? The panel gaps look awful as it sits right now but I’m not sure if I have many...
